I'm going to be bidding on the 1 on ebay first, however if that doesn't work out I'll definitely get in contact. I'm sure with some massage work the dent can be smoothed out and fixed. Sounds good to me. As I mentioned above I will wait and see how eBay goes, if that falls through then I'll PM you . Yep they are a pain to come by. My PO thought the 200b mirrors were a nice addition to the Z. I tend to disagree myself but what do I know right? If you have a change of heart, I will give it a good home though. To be honest, if we can get the stalk replicated I think we could just use the US mirror parts and create the correct RHD replacement part. Anyone know if the UK market Z mirror was different? Nzeder you seem to have the part numbers?
-
Are you mentioning this because you are willing to sell it? Or did you just want to brag?
-
I think its just that they are hard to find. I've not had any luck looking on ebay for 3 - 4 years. I have no idea what they are worth to be honest I guess I'll find out when the auction ends for the 1 on ebay.

Damn it, I was quietly watching this 1. I've been chasing 1 of these for ages now. I'm fairly certain its a 240z mirror.

Hey there, We have a small community of enthusiasts in Ballarat. I'm sure if you ask nicely 1 of the experts will come around take a look and help you out. It might even cost you a 6pack of their favorite beer. So is it a 260z 2 seater or 2+2?
-
Man $600 is so cheap. I bought mine for $850+ from memory. In the US they are going for $450 US + and that's before postage so very reasonable price I think. Definitely eBay it or maybe even try ozdat.com

WA 10 peice Carpet templates for 240z 260z
gav240z replied to chartoo's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
It moments like that, where I can confidently say "attention to detail" on my resume. Not really, for something as special as that you have to "make time" hehe. All I'm saying is consider the possibilities here. I mean Zed carpets one day. Furniture bazaar the next. You could even be a TV Star -

What year is this S1 240z? Also is it worth resurecting?
gav240z replied to RBZ 260's topic in General Discussions
I've seen some early 71 240z's with the Fender mirrors like those in Japan. So who knows maybe this Z had them but someone plugged them up or maybe cars in SA as you say couldn't have them so Nissan decided to stop fitting them on later model Z's in the Australian market. If it already has the holes for them I'd put them in again, but that's just me. -
Funniest comment I've read today. She's a diamond in the rough for now. Good luck with it. Good that you are saving another 1.

Split Topic (Re: FOR SALE - ORIGINAL RED 240Z (MINT))
gav240z replied to waxhead's topic in Cars For Sale
Guys I split the thread because I don't feel any of this banter is helping Stewk sell his Z. FWIW - I think Waxhead was being a bit cheaky and obviously knew it would cause a bit of a stir. Maybe he was serious and to be honest if he wants to fork out 30K for the car. He can do what he likes, even if it means sticking a modern engine in it. To me, yes it would be a shame since not many cars this original and well looked after come up but at the end of the day if someone wants to buy it and do that. It's their choice. Of course the seller may agree with Lurch and may decide not to sell the car to somoene who won't look after her and keep her original. Lurch was also being a bit cheaky, but I think it the joke was lost in translation. I think if you only Lurk on the forum it can be hard to see all the good things Lurch does. He is very helpful and friendly in person. However on the forum he may come across as a bit short and somewhat rude - depending on how you take it. Eija I would like to welcome you to the forum and it is a shame you missed the introduction because it would obviously help us know more about you and your interest. I assume being an owner since 1980 you would have a wealth of knowledge to share, which I'm certain that everyone here would really appreciate. I hope that you havne't been scared off, but at the same time I'm sure you could understand where Lurch was coming from if you really appreciate this Z and its current condition and originality. If anyone wishes to continue this argument, please feel free to do so here. -
Hi Everyone, I realise this is off topic, but I have been living in Ireland for a while now and whilst I miss home, I think I could be here for a while longer. Recently I have been considering buying a car, because I want to go surfing on the West Coast in Summer and its a 4.5 hr drive. I could hire a car, but weather conditions are not easy to predict and booking a car in Dublin could get expensive if I do it often. I don't need a car for work so it would be my weekend warrior. I have more than enough cash to buy the car outright and I've always loved the Mazda RX-7 FD. You can get them relatively cheap here. From 4,000 euro - 12,000 euro depending on the year of the car. Compared to what they go for in Australia I consider this a great price. Other thoughts to consider I'm still a young man with no mortgage or kids so I want a 2 seater sports car I can enjoy. I would get a Z but the only 1 for sale in Ireland right now is going for about 22,000 euro and I have nowhere to work on her anyway. So what I'm looking for is feedback on the FD Mazda RX-7, have you ever owned 1? Have you ever owned a rotary? What's the general consensus / feedback on them? I'm trying to get a copy of Brian Long's Mazda RX-7 book (same guy who wrote the Fairlady Z Story) but Amazon have it at a very high price and the publisher says its out of stock on their website. But I will order it soon as it has a buying guide and outlines the changes in the years. The Spirit R version seems to be the duck's nuts but could be too expensive and I don't even know if any exist in the Emerald Isle anyway? Here is a few examples in Ireland for sale right now: http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/894220 http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1210549 http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1188581 http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1146387 http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1209453 http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1200624 So have I sold my soul here if I buy a Mazda? I realise the same money spent on this car could be spent on my 240z back home and get lots of nice things done but I could always resell the Mazda RX-7 before I leave the country. Insurance, maintenance, NCT (National Car Test) their version of RWC are also things to consider in the cost of a car. Oh and I'm looking for a car as close to standard as possible. Not interested in silly rear wings, big chrome wheels, massive exhausts or other non-sense (or at least I think that's all non-sense). I'm looking for a car that's been meticulously cared for and babied. Thanks guys.

Haha, I know Dale too well, it's not his cup of tea to do that with a Z. He likes em' nice and original.

It's that time again and I'm looking for a new front page car for this month of March. If you don't know what to write or need some ideas here are some questions you could answer: 1. Why choose a Z, when you can get a cheap import with 300 ba-jillion horsepower so cheaply? 2. How did you find your Z? Did you look at a few lemons before finding the right Z? 3. After getting your Z, what was the first thing you wanted to change? 4. What has been your vision for your Z? Was there a particular car that helped you decide on the right look? 5. What do you enjoy most about owning a Z? 6. What's the funniest thing that's happened to you since owning your Z? 7. What annoys you most about owning a Z? 8. What / who has been the biggest help? Anyone you want to thank? 9. Future plans? What would you do if money was no object? 10. Any advice for people in the market looking for a Z? What would you do differently (if anything)? 11. Total investment so far? You don't have to disclose, you can say none of your business or more than X amount etc... Then you could just send along a list of modifications you have made and a few photos and I'll do all the rest. Feel free to add anything else that's relevant or I haven't thought of..

FuFu'Z 240Z Project! 56K warning... too slow.
gav240z replied to fufu's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
Glad to hear things worked out right with Eiji and they are the best wheels you can get for your Z. No other wheel looks as good and well balanced as those on a S30 Z. I'm very tempted to treat myself to a set. But even in euro they are still damn expensive . -
IP.Content 2.3 includes a new feature designed to help you build your forums and website out the way you want to: control over your primary navigational menu. The primary navigation menu is the the "tab" bar across the top of the page that includes links to each major section of your site. IP.Board builds this automatically based on the applications you have installed, but when you use IP.Content, you will likely find yourself creating new pages that you wish you could quickly link to in that same bar. It is possible to edit your skin templates manually to accomplish this, but this presents a few problems: Your template edits may need to be reverted when upgrading in the future in order to inherit updates in the skin in future releases. You will have to determine the logic necessary to show the tab as "lit up" when someone is viewing that page (and to ensure other tabs do not appear to be lit up). It is inconvenient repeating this process each time a new page is created. This is no longer a problem with IP.Content 2.3. You can now visit the "Navigation Menu" page available under the Settings module in the IP.Content ACP area and build tabs through an easy to use interface. You can control what order your tabs display in, and even put them before or in between default application tabs. You can control almost every aspect of the tab from the title, the textual tooltip, any additional non-default attributes (for instance, including a javascript click handler that will log the click in an analytics program) and more. You can even create submenus that will display on click or on hover, including many links underneath one tab. You can also modify many aspects of your default application tabs as well, going beyond what IP.Board offers by default. For instance, using this tool you can add additional attributes to your application tabs, change the title, and modify the textual tooltip shown when a user hovers over the tab. The best part about this new feature - IP.Content automatically figures out which tab to light up without any extra work on your part! We hope this new feature in IP.Content 2.3 helps you better control your site the way you want it to be.

When you edit content in IP.Content, whether it be blocks, templates or pages, there are many built in tags that you will need to or want to utilize in order to generate the content appropriately. Blocks have variables containing data that may be of use to your users. Page templates have variables that perform important functions, such as inserting the page title or marking where the page content should be displayed. It is nearly impossible to simply remember every variable that can be utilized in your pages and templates. IP.Content features a template tag help panel that you can use to alleviate this problem. The panel can be minimized if you don't need it (and your preference is remembered so you won't have to minimize it each time you load a new template to edit). The panel is tabbed, providing you with various tag options based on the specific content you are editing. Database templates will show you the database tags you will need to use, while blocks will show you the variables being passed into the block template. You are able navigate some of the tabs when necessary in order to better determine the appropriate variables for the specific area you are editing. A small icon is shown next to each tag, and clicking this icon will insert it into your templates automatically wherever the cursor is blinking. You need not manually copy and paste the tag - simply click to insert! Some tags will have additional information or perhaps a relevant example of the data it represents. These tags will have an arrow indicator next to them to let you know that you can click on the arrow to view further details about that specific tag. This panel is always available and dynamically adjusts to the type of content you are editing. It is but one small feature available in IP.Content designed to help you build your site the way you want, as efficiently as possible.

IP.Board 3.1 introduces a new feature that is available for any application to make use of: sharing links. IP.Content makes use of this feature in the custom databases (and articles) modules to allow you to more easily expose your content to a wider audience. Along with supporting sharing of your content with third party services such as Facebook and Twitter, you can now also send an article via email, print the article, and download the article easily by clicking the appropriate icon under the article body. The additional printing and downloading features allow the content to be shared, online as well as offline. Within the articles module specifically, the article image that you upload when posting the article (optionally) will automatically be flagged for use with Facebook when someone uses Facebook to share the link. This ensures that the correct image is the one Facebook displays to other users. Similarly, we pull out an appropriate extract of textual content for Facebook to use as well. If the user is logged in to Twitter or Facebook, sharing the content becomes even easier, not requiring you to even leave the site. We hope that by providing tools to make it easier to share content on your site, your content will be exposed to a wider audience, bringing you more traffic and making your content more easily and readily available to the world.

With IP.Content articles and custom databases you can mirror a topic to the forums when a new article or database record is submitted. In doing so, IP.Content can also utilize that automatically-generated topic as the comment "storage" for the article or record. When a comment is submitted to the article, the comment is actually stored as a reply to the topic. Similarly, replies made directly to the topic in the forum also show up as comments for the record. This functionality can be enabled at a per-database and per-category level. You can specify separate forums for each category in your article section, for instance, or you can turn off forum commenting for a specific category, while enabling it for all others. A few additional configuration options, such as allowing you to automatically remove the topic when the record is removed, and specifying a prefix and/or suffix for the topic title so that your users can more easily identify that such topics were stemmed from the articles section help round out the feature, giving you better control over how these automatically posted topics are handled. The forum cross-posting capabilities allow the administrator to better tie in articles with the forums, giving you better opportunities to expose your content to a wider audience. Additionally, forum management of comments provides for easier maintenance and stronger managerial options of the comments, utilizing IP.Board's powerful, proven feature set.

The media module in the IP.Content ACP section allows you to quickly and easily manage multimedia files you may need to use with IP.Content. While you can certainly upload your files through FTP, or link to offsite files, you may find it easier to upload the files using the media section of the ACP, and then copy the links for use within pages, templates, and blocks. Media files uploaded through the IP.Content Media Manager are also easily inserted using the Template Tag helper window available when editing pages, blocks and templates with just a single click. From within the media module, you can create folders, upload files, move files and folders, rename files and folders, and delete files and folders. When viewing a listing of files you will see a preview (if the file can be previewed), and selecting a file will present some other pertinent details. You can also right click on the file and use your browser's "Copy Link" option to quickly get the link to the file. This tool can be a timesaver when you simply need to upload an image quickly for use within a page, block or template. The media folder is defined in the media_path.php file in your forum root directory, giving you the freedom to move and organize your paths as needed.
