  1. I remember seeing a few rough examples on the road still around year 2000 and I always thought they were under appreciated cars. A couple of friends at school started getting into Datsun's after they saw my 240z and the 240k was a car that a few of us thought were really cool shape wise. The coupe's are so rare these days, many were crushed at the breaking yard. Ironically it was the fact that nobody wanted them or saw the value in them and they were scrapped that has caused them to soar in value and desirability. Good luck with your restoration mate.
  2. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/adelaide-region/other-automotive/datsun-240z-unfinished-project-1972/1036182254 Phone number is listed on Gumtree.
  3. Mark (mossy's) mig he only used a few times. There is a thread that mentions exact model etc.. Its a cigweld unit I think. Thread is here, was on mobile previously so harder to find thread. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13766.0.html
  4. I promise I won't pike out haha. After buying the welder, Christmas and the final fee for importing the rx7 with Iron Chef I'm a little broke till pay day that's all .
  5. They look like the 'right' ones to me for a Fairlady S30Z but maybe ask Mossy / Mark if they look the same as his ones?
  6. Good price for fender mirrors? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Fairlady-240z-260z-JDM-Fender-Mirrors-Used-510-B110-/281244447806
  7. Another option. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-1970-78-Louvered-Inspection-Doors-Lids-6-Louvers-/321238986322
  8. Found on Ozdat. 260z seats. http://ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=31986 L-series turbo manifold for L6. http://ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=32074 240z Air Box (looks like it's missing the front snorkel part). http://ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=32188
  9. George give her a call and she'll send you the details along with payment options. I can't pay yet I'm waiting until I get paid next, so I can't secure a spot until then, but I'm doing the course that starts in Feb if possible.
  10. I watched it also and was pretty amazed to be honest. It wasn't classified as a write off, so I'm guessing someone wants to build a replica and views this as a cheap way to do it? There isn't much that could be salvaged to make it a Z again. Maybe I should turn the Safari Gold car into a Ferrari replica, might be worth more that way eh?
  11. Ask member Ledge on here. He is SA based and does great work.
  12. I am also interested in this if Bruce doesn't take it. What is the fitment of these door skins like? Anyone know?
  13. I just called she wasn't available, so I left a message. Hopefully she will call back and I can confirm enrollment.
  14. Sounds good, I guess we should just enroll and if others want to join they can try and get in to the same class? Is it better to call Erin to enroll - since last time I filled in the web based form and I'm not convinced it's working properly so think it's better to secure via phone?
  15. Did you mean start with the February 1 and do it again in April? I am interested in starting in February, if it means I have the option to continue on again in April. I am sure the Safari project will take longer than a few weeks to sort out it's problems .
  16. Yeah I'd also consider taking a set of stock ones to a metal fabricator and asking them to install the desired vents. Gotta be a cheaper option?
  17. So I tried the WD40 in the bores left it 24 hours. About half a can I'd guess. But still no joy. I was reading on some rat rod forum people have used diesel fuel overnight in the bores to free it up. But then again they also said tomato juice and coca cola. I could no longer determine who was serious and who was being facicious. I figure freeing it up now would make disassembly easier. Thoughts?
  18. For those interested this is what the vacuum moulding process looks like for dashboard restoration. http://www.uniquecarsmag.com.au/news-and-reviews/article/articleid/61774.aspx
  19. No I was going to fire him an email though, I've been thinking about importing parts in bulk to supply to Auszcar members and charging a small fee myself for the time / risk involved as a way to supplement my Safari Gold project, but I need to understand more about the customs duty on parts imported etc..
  20. Oh oh oh I was going to ask about this, do we have the numbers of interest? I thought I already signed up. But guess not. Either will work for me, or should I say I'll make either work for me? Might be better to start with April, which would give me some time to strip some bits off the old Safari Project.
  21. Looking a lot better mate, the flat black was cool but the shiny surface helps show the curves of the old girl. The 2+2's tend to look better in the darker colours also as it tends to make the extended roofline less obvious.
  22. I like your track wheels and the dolphin tip exhaust. Very interested to hear how the car has changed in terms of it's characteristics from before and after and what you think is the biggest change that has improved the car for you?
  23. I believe they are listed as Hakosuka mirrors but they do look more 510 / BlueBird style to me. For what it's worth the genuine Fairlady Z ones seem to go for a lot more money than those chrome plated ones. I found a single side (S30Z 1) listed for about $150 in second hand condition and needing refurbishment. I think if you could get a second hand pair for $300 you're doing well, then just paint it up and re-plate the bolts and fasteners etc.. and you've got a brand new set of mirrors that will look right on the Z. I personally find some of the other mirrors on the Z don't quite look the part and since they are in a fairly prominent position on the Z I think it's worth getting the genuine article. I know when I saw Mossy's (Mark's) 240z it looked great with the correct mirrors. I just have to find a good way to purchase from Yahoo! Auctions Japan and deliver to an AU address without costing a bomb to use the service. I've been figuring out ways to find various parts for old Nissan's and started a spreadsheet which contains various Japanese Kanji Characters I can use to return various search results. Since many auctions are listed using the non-english characters.
