Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
240k on eBay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1975-DATSUN-240K-COUPE-MODIFIED-SKYLINE-2000GTX-REPLICA-/121231514735?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item1c39f61c6f&_uhb=1 -
I would wait for a 2 seater Z myself, as it seems to be what you really want. Otherwise my list would be: 1. Early SA22/FB RX-7 2. Datsun 260z 2+2 (8 - 14k) 3. 944 Turbo (don't even bother with a 924) 4. R32 GTR - if you can find a clean 1 within budget. 5. Toyota supra Mk3 (5-9k)
-
I did wonder if another Z enthusiast saw it on the way. I'll be glad to sell you the sunroof when the time is right. However that will probably be a while off at the moment.

Also worth trying. Head Unit (OEM) for Honda Prelude of the late 80s like this. Some muppet cut the wires though, free to any Auszcar member of friend of member, but a website donation would be appreciated also!
-
I should also mention that I'm open to swaps for other parts I may need for my projects or a donation toward website hosting would also be helpful. Parts I need / am interested in off the top of my head: 1. Mostly patch panels / rust repair sections etc.. Sills, Floors, Rear Slam Panel for hatch. Doors, Door Skins etc.. Early 240z rear hatch. 2. 2 seater roof skin and or headliner. 3. Diamond Vinyl Interior Trim Kit (can be a bit shabby condition wise) 4. Original 240z mirrors - door or fender style both acceptable. 5. Air box to suit triple mikuni's 6. Hand Throttle Knob for early Z. 7. Drivers side door trim OEM (in good condition 2nd hand?) 8. Wheels that are not HotWire / Aussie Muscle car style. Peanut / Kidney bean 70s style wheels with decent tyres perhaps? Try me..

Factory standard exhaust manifold to suit L-series motor. Price: $50 Center Console to Suit 240z after 71 year. As you can see it has cracked in the middle, mostly a clean break but it will need a little creativity to fill a gap. Also someone has drilled holes into the console at some point. I think for the choke? This could be a good candidate for dashboard doctor or similar to perform their magic on and return to new condition. The chrome trim is still in good nic. Price: $50 Air Conditioning Bracket and Compressor for L-series motor. I doubt the compressor still works, so selling as untested. Price: $100 Schneider 300F Grind Cam Kit. Kit consists of new billet camshaft, springs, retainers, lash pads, rocker arms and I'll include a oil spray bar - since it's not an internally oiled cam. Price: $300 To be fair after reading this thread I'm not sure I'll sell it here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13724.0.html Refer also here: http://schneidercams.com/dastsunL6_NA.aspx But each person / builder has their own opinions and so I'm putting this on the market just in case anyone thinks they can make it work for their application. If no interest I'll try Gumtree etc..

Yes the L24 in storage has E88 head, but it has been sitting for 10 years which and although I've thrown a cover / blanket over it. I'm not sure if dust etc.. has gotten into it. I just cleaned up a bunch of dust and crap around it today. I'm not sure if the E31 has been modified with larger valves when it was put on the L28 block, guess I'll find out when it's torn down. I may have a P90 head to use, it's been at a shop for 6+ years now so we are not sure if they still have it, will find out Monday hopefully. Otherwise I also have an N42 Lurch gave me many moons ago. Although it will need some serious reconditioning work also!

Just the other day I found some photos we took of your C110 when I was on the Gold Coast. Who are these 2 fellas? I'm sure we took better photos but I haven't found them yet.
-
Being that your 240z is before 1974 it should be acceptable that it has an MPH speedo. All 240z's sold in Australia before 1974 had an MPH speedo. We can provide plenty of reference pictures as proof if required for AU compliance. Only the 260z from 74 onward had the KM/H speedo.

Scuttle panel / windscreen cowl. It has surface rust but nothing major and is fairly straight. Price: $100 Sound fair? Only caveat is that I don't know what's hiding under that paint, looks like it was off a blue donor car but my old 260z wasn't painted by a pro that's for sure.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I'll put this cam on Gumtree / eBay and go with a Nissan regrind cam via wade as suggested. The reason I brought it up was that I had this camshaft sitting in storage for years now and with the Safari Gold Project I'm told the motor is seized. So my options are: 1. I've had an L24 sitting in the garage for 10 years that was running fine when stored. Bring that up to NSW and install it in the old girl and see if she'll run. Only problem is non-hardened valve seats with the old L24. 2. Rebuild the L28 with E31 head currently in the car. I was thinking of putting this camshaft in it at the same time, but looks like it's not a great idea unless I go do the associated head work. 3. Find a running L28 out of a breaker or junkyard car and put that in. I found a patrol being broken with an L28 gonna check to see how much the fella wants for the L28 (and see what head it has because often the patrol's have P90s on them). I've got a compression gauge to see how good compression is etc.. might be able to see it running and check for smoke / water usage etc.. I'm thinking option #2 might be best though, but I really need to stick to a strict budget with it, so thinking of just doing a refresh - no modifications. But I do have Triple Mikuni 44 carbs, LD28 crank and L14 rods . So I am tempted to do something with a bit of grunt... decisions decisions.

I might be getting confused between Ash's old race car and the RB conversion project he did. http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=70&pos=7

Like the colour mate, Kalahari Tan is a great factory shade. What colour was your car originally? I know it's had a different roof put on it at some stage, but do you know what the original shell colour would have been for this car?

Is Nato the bloke in South Australia who sells the bits on eBay?
-
No my resolution is to drink less. @Peter yes a NSW BBQ sounds like a good idea.

Happy new year guys. Here is to progress on your Zcar projects and a great year for all. Ps : 10 years since we started Auszcar.

WA Z Owner, 260 2+2 OJ!
gav240z replied to mitchsterbrau's topic in Introductions and Forum Etiquette
Looks great with those Hayashi wheels too! -
Hmm I recall discussions about that previously too. I think I'll stick it on eBay then. I might have a 240z A-Grind cam in storage. @Dazzed - is it best to regrind the OEM camshafts to a suitable profile? Or is there specific brands that you've used with success?

Front lip is on hold for someone.

Modified Door Cards. A bit shabby as you can see, but they could help someone out with no door cards or something even more shabby . I was going to keep them as a template to make new ones etc.. but honestly don't think I'll ever get around to that. I replaced mine with some OEM ones. Price: $100

Hi Guys, I'm in Melbourne until next weekend and I've decided that if people are interested in these parts I'd consider selling them while I'm in Melbourne. Otherwise they'll go back into storage until next time...I can't be bothered right now running around to post things I'm afraid but if a member in Melbourne wants it and isn't too far from Caulfield area I might be able to drop stuff off. Alternatively I'll be driving back to Sydney, but I honestly have lots of crap to cart back as it is, so would rather not bring stuff unless I really have to. S.U Carbs - British (not sure what they were off originally). Doesn't come with an inlet manifold but does contain some throttle linkages. These have been in storage since year 2000, so would advise a rebuild and clean up. Price: $100 Lower Lip / Chin Spoiler - Requires drilling into lower valance. - SOLD It's red (not my 240z colour but another red - was never on my car). Has some stone chips so needs painting anyway to be honest. See this thread also for more discussion on it. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13366.0.html Price: $200 L24 Rods with Pistons As pictured, pretty sure they are stock pistons on it. Out of my 72 240z's L24 block. The previous owner tore down the block and left it in pieces before deciding to slot an L28 in the old girl. Going to price at $150 - Would be good for stroker build. 60's style bullet mirrors (metal not plastic) - SOLD Comes with rubber gaskets and screws for mounting. Got these on eBay many moons ago. Plan was to install them on my 240z but change of heart now. Still a cool mirror but I'd prefer an original style mirror. 1 of the rubber trims around the mirror glass is a little wonky which might bother some, otherwise practically brand new. Would swap for an original 240z AU market drivers side mirror (or 2 if you have them?). Price: $150 L14 Rods a set of 12.... I didn't take them out, they look the same as the L24 rods but obviously are a slightly different length. Very rare to find now, and not sure if I want to sell them just because I hunted for these high and low. Mike (NZeder got me 4) and I got some from Japan and another from a Datsun specialist in NZ who I heard has since past on sadly. I had a look around on Yahoo! Auctions and found some sets. http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d148170910 http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e134488160 http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k161547832 Note: Part number is shown here: Price: $900 due to rarity. Enough to build 2 strokers. If you need to get in contact my mobile number is 0434 520 498. If I happen to find anything else I don't think I need / want I'll list it in this thread. If it doesn't sell it will all go back into storage.

Hi mate, I thought I had 2 spare sets, but I only have 1.5 pairs. I have 2 right hand side units and 1 left hand side. Of the units this is the 1 in the most shabby condition. Note: The hairline cracks in it, I don't know how you could polish / restore that to be honest. Also not even sure what to price a single side at either. Let me know what you think?

Hi guys, As the subject says how would I interpret this camshaft spec sheet? I bought this many years ago when I was much more green when it came to understanding how engines work and how crucial it is to have the head work match the camshaft etc.. I know many people talk about camshaft's in terms of degrees but that is subjective depending on manufacturer and I guess what I'm really trying to determine is if this camshaft would even work well on a relatively stock engine? The camshaft kit contains, springs, retainers, rockers, lash pads etc..
