  1. Hi guys, I spotted a pair of '240z' 1/4 badge emblems - the early style ones for an early 240z. They are original 'metal' badges as opposed to the plastic fantastic ones produced later, and I am keen to buy them - provided they don't get silly monies. They are on eBay US so I messaged seller to see if he would be kind enough to post to AU - given that they are small badges it should be much more hassle, but he has declined to send outside of USA. In Ireland there was a service called Parcel Motel. http://www.parcelmotel.com/about.html# Basically it's a PO BOX for deliveries when you don't have a US based postal address, you send it to this service who then forwards it to your address in your relevant country. Do we have anything similar here? I could try asking some work friends in the US if they mind me using their address to forward car parts, but as non-car people it's hard for them to 'understand' and therefore they will more than likely get sick of my junk turning up on their doorstep and having to forward it on.
  2. Lol if only that were true. If anything reading that article has inspired me to try track down some old owners. You never know may get lucky and find the old L24 block. Another thing I missed first time is that car on BAT sold in 24 hours. I think that is a positive indicator as to what others value the car at. Unfortunately yet again though they all think car this car is #51 of all cars made. But is that taking into account S30 chassis prefix cars or PS30's or HS30s. Funny I now see why it grinds Alan Thomas' gears (member HS30-H). Since a lot of discussions only pertain to a US focus and we all know they got the lowest spec cars with their 4 speed boxes . Other market cars got a lot of better parts.
  3. I agree mate. I've seen more and more demand and fewer cars on the market. I think they are still the bargain classic if you get 1 now before prices get silly. In particular I've noticed in the US price increases and that is the market where they are most plentiful. Lots of 2+2s still about here and 260z 2 seaters show up quite frequently but the original 240z's are very thin on the ground these days.
  4. http://bringatrailer.com/2013/11/21/bat-exclusive-the-18th-earliest-surviving-datsun-240z/ Worth a read to see the differing opinions. Every time a 240z is listed on BAT I find that there is always a crowd saying they are not worth that much etc.. I do have to wonder why that is when many other marques seems to have an 'accepted value'. Thought it was worth sharing anyway.
  5. 240z fender badge. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-badge-/200926398290 Asking price is a bit high considering price of a new 1 is about $50 US. Not listed under 240z on eBay so won't show up.
  6. I would have taken a punt on this if I was in QLD. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/south-toowoomba/engine-engine-parts-transmission/datsun-l26-motor/1037015228 $50 for an L26 - bargain!
  7. Another GTO replica. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/dudley-park/cars-vans-utes/1963-gto250-replica-ferrari-coupe/1036571494 Asking $37,000... I guess if you want your Z-car to increase in value, cut it up stick a GTO kit on it and flog it off. Apologies to all members who have 1 of these or are building 1. .
  8. Your parcel is on the way. A career in packaging I won't have... but it should do the job.

    summer meet

I was down in DeeWhy the other day along the beach there was nice, but having said that getting over the the North side can be a little painful if there is heavy traffic (if your on the South side), but I was also wondering if we should try and invite the ACT group along also, given that the ACT is only a couple of hours drive away? But maybe I'm too optimistic?
  10. Well mate on the positive side of things I don't think you'll have much trouble selling it. At the end of the day you can always find another 1. Although it looks like you have a really nice 1 I must say. All the best with helping the family.
  11. I know the feeling I was thinking of selling my reclining Recaro's but having seen what he is replacing them with I think I might get a set of those or similar in future.

    summer meet

I'm definitely in, unfortunately without a Z though... but it's about time the NSW fellas got together. Any thoughts on a venue?
  14. That was my point really, to say a design such as the L-series was stolen is a bit of a leap.
  15. Yeah that 1 is subject to much contention mainly because it focuses mainly on the US market cars and the way the car was launched in the US and it's subsequent success etc.. However it mentions nothing of the Japanese market vehicles including the 240zg, the 432 and 432R or even discusses the racing success of the Safari Rally cars. It also doesn't talk about the AU / NZ / ZA markets or EU markets for that matter. So whilst it is nice to see a documentary on Zeds, they left out much of the interesting parts of the story.
  16. By the way check this out. http://goo.gl/maps/vcVYY
  17. It was posted a while back, great little documentary and really lovely to see the way some of these restorer's work. It inspires me, I look on with envy at some of their skills.
  18. Problem is I won't be able to get a pallet into Google lol.. I just dropped the seats at my work and picked up a roll of bubble wrap and will cut up some cardboard boxes for additional outside padding. I should be able to stack the seats on top of each other and I'm guessing it weighs around 12-15kg at most.
  19. I guess by that token Mazda stole the wankel rotary design from NSU also .
  20. Nice. What about FD rx7 rear seat belts? The seats in the back of those are similar layout wise to a 2+2. Meaning they are just as useless really... Not sure what the rules are RE: custom buckles though, I do like the red button.
  21. I can't get over the colour. Would prefer flat black with red steel rims to suit the rat rod theme and pin striping. But purple of all colours?
  22. Happy for you dude, I know how you feel. So did they change the master cylinder or was there something else going on?
  23. Thanks G, is that an Australian contact? I assume so... he mentions he is on the ToyMods forum email is: sales@rmcarburetors.net
  24. Hi mate, your 260z is a 74 model. There was no 73 model 260z's sold in Australia. So you buy parts to suit a 74 260z, 240z parts will not work for you.
  25. Any idea if they deal with Mikuni's?
