  1. Next time, get a real Z!
  2. Speak with Les Collins or Lou Mondello. *Edit, nevermind. I read 71a (but you want 71c). My bad.. Still speak to Les Collins though. Pintara is where I got my 71c extension housing with reverse lockout.
  3. You can save yourself a lot of time hassle and money by asking the right people the right questions. Yes..
  4. Maybe call the number in the ad? I'm fairly sure it sold a while ago though.
  5. Lou's old 240z is for sale. Asking $120k https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1971-Datsun-240Z-Manual/SSE-AD-6757746 New owner: Vinh looks to have spent quite a bit of money on Rb26 conversion. I've compiled photos of the car in the gallery. If anyone knows the VIN # please let me know?
  6. As far as I'm aware parts are readily available for 71B and C boxes. It's the 71a's that are harder to source for, but not impossible (just more expensive). They are quite a different gearbox and many owners have swapped them out over the years for later boxes due to difficulty obtaining parts. Of course with originality adding value to these cars 71a boxes are now more desired, but finding them is getting harder.
  7. You just need the vertical shifter? I may have a spare, but I think it's been bent to accommodate a 71a transmission holed car.
  8. If you have the early console it would have come with a 71a box from factory. Later boxes can work, but will require some modifications to fit. You can also have a 71b/c hybrid box made. (This is what I did on my 72 240z) using 260z (71b) close ratios.
  9. Thanks for that, I had no record of this car until now. So another added to the collection.
  10. That's Vince's car @NEW240.
  11. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/133472490582 71a box.
  12. Do you want a 71a or 71b? 71b will require a bent gear lever to work with the further back gearbox hole. A 71a will fit as intended but is costly to rebuild now that parts are getting hard to find and the "monkey motion" or rifle bolt shifter required machine work repair to fix slop. There was a 71a box on eBay for an S30z. At around $700. But no driveshaft to suit (71a has a flange style shaft), 71b has a slip in yoke.
  13. Looks like HS6 SUs.
  14. Doesn't look too bad. 2 seaters are worth over paying for. Welcome.
  15. I'm also working on a wheel. But I may need to redo the rim.
  16. I just posted a V8 240z on Gumtree that looks solid and a good start. Matching no.s it is not, but a better starting position then others I've seen.
  17. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/vermont-south/cars-vans-utes/240z-datsun/1252676762 Asking $25,000.
  18. I didn't know until a day or so ago and wanted to wait until it was made public. So now I feel it can be more widely shared. http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/rip-yoshihiko-matsuo-nissan-fairladyz-240z-designer-1934-2020/
  19. Yes I noticed that the other day.
  20. 260z indicator stalks have a "flash" or "pass" button that flashes high beams. I think the loom plug may also be different.
  21. What was the spray adhesive you used and where did you get it from?
  22. Video of engine after adjustment. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZPFmYYmYpyJbWFMq5
  23. Since it's lockdown in Victoria. I decided to do a long overdue job. Valve clearance adjustment on the white 71. They were nearly all too tight. Exception of 1 or 2 valves. I did them cold, because doing them hot is tricky because them motor can cool down quickly. I also had a hell of a time getting #4 exhaust but undone. Since it has limited room for adjustment and you don't wanna bust ya knuckles on the sharp edge of the engine head. The benefit though is the engine sounds much nicer and quieter. For those doing it. Intake is 0.20mm clearance. Exhaust 0.25mm. Turning top nut anti clockwise will tighten the gap, turning it clockwise with open the gap. I used cardboard to check off the valves as I did them and turned the motor from the cam sprocket (with plugs out).
  24. Not sure this is an early assembly, but may be useful? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/184360607415
  25. MSA is terrible on freight. Whatever company they use is charging full tilt.
