  1. You can just see this motor at 0:22 mark
  2. Awesome, some good footage of S110s in that spec here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZczC4ACcuk You can really hear the distinctive rasp of the rotaries racing against it also.
  3. Good idea, split from the Brown Hornet Build Thread here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4168.msg168444.html#new and put in the engine section of the forum. Knock yourselves out... FWIW: http://www.kameariusa.com/l6-twin-idler-gear/
  4. Not saying you're wrong but I got that information from here: http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/short_story/en_p22-01.html
  5. Doing some reading up on the LZ20B it seems it finally evolved in a turbocharged 500HP beast. Fitted to the Super Silhouette DR30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1SIkhiUMvw
  6. Very cool engine and story, lovely stuff. I wish they made an LZ24 or LZ28 a twin cam on an L6 would have been awesome and probably homologated. Don't suppose Les has ever had any experience with an LY motor?
  7. San Francisco!
  8. Man I want to frame that and put it on the wall. Don't suppose there is a higher resolution shot of it? I love the big DATSUN written on the boat.
  9. Just wanted to say that the other clock that is still available has some minor scuff marks on the outside of the bezel that were too deep to effectively polish out. This won't be seen at all once installed, but wanted to mention it in advance so the potential buyer is aware. You can sort of see this in the pictures above if you look closely (top left of first photo), BUT... if you want to see closer photos of this please let me know and I'd be happy to take some and post them up. I guess it just adds to the character and patina of the part . The other thing I'll mention is that the action on the adjustment knob feels a little different with the Quartz movement, it's quite nice compared to the standard mechanism and it's literally the only way to know it's not 100% original once it's been re-installed.
  10. That's what I would have thought also, I remember speaking to Adam when I saw the Hornet in person and he was a little upset over the extractors getting ham-fisted like that. I guess these things happen, even with professionals. It didn't detract from how nice the car was in many other ways.
  11. Found some great photos the other day in this thread. http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78309 I didn't want to 'dump' them here and take them out of context so best to read that thread. PS: No prizes for guessing who 'PZR' might be, it's easy to identify this person across many forums .
  12. It won't work as a standalone distributor, you need something to control it. These are good if you decide to use an ECU like MegaSquirt or similar to build your own fuel injection system.
  13. Minty looking 280zx http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/pottsville/cars-vans-utes/1980-datsun-280zx-4-sale/1074620862 $9,000.00 Negotiable Love the 80s retro vibe to it...
  14. But isn't the point of a replica the fact that you could daily driver it and not worry about destroying a multi-million dollar car?
  15. Maybe a bit of both... haha.
  16. 1971 240z for sale on Gumtree in Tamworth NSW. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/south-tamworth/cars-vans-utes/1971-datsun-240z-coupe-project/1077413514 Asking $6,500
  17. Life might be a bit like this?
  18. Just a quick update but Ron informs me he's running out of Quartz units. Seems there has been demand for clock restoration and he's running low on spares. If anyone has a late 260z style Quartz clock or 280zx analog clock for sale or parts let me know? 280zx clock looks like this I believe. Pretty sure I've seen 280zx's being broken recently.
  19. You should be able to register the car in NSW without having to go through any hassle first in Victoria, provided you can prove ownership and transfer the car into your name. Just get a receipt from the owner to say you've paid for the car etc.. as a backup. Having the previous registration details for the car is helpful. (Looks like RGH 442). Having said that call the RTA or Vicroads and ask them though, always better than asking someone who hasn't done it before. Another thing the owner told me is this, because I enquired about the headlight covers. In the photos it looks like they have chrome trims around them and I was wondering who makes them because maybe we could get them to produce some for the S30z. Here is a photo of the Shannon's GTO replica (based on a 240z) the car above is a 260z based replica.
  20. Paint cracking like that usually means 1 thing. Bog. Look at the front of the bonnet. We all know they rust inside out, that thing is probably not so crash hot under it's "Arizona dry state*" paint work. My other favorite is "It's a California car, so it's rust free". hahaha, like it never rains in California.
  21. Not having a good run of this....Sigh must make this photo attaching nonsense easier.
  22. Rev replied just before me but I'll post this anyway.... What you are describing is 'oil canning', thank god for Wikipedia. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/oil-canning So yes it sounds like you've stretched the metal, you can try and 'heat shrink' it but I've not actually done this before myself. My fender on the passenger side had a long scrape along it and we popped it back but it has a bit of oil-canning going on I was told we could 'heat shrink' it to stop it doing this. Probably not the best demo, but here goes.
  23. Images work now?
  24. The lesson is don't get greedy if a buyer comes along with cash and is willing to buy. Sell. If you held out for a 'better price' you may not have got a sale. Also stale listings can put people off, I've seen lots of cars sit around and not sell for ages and you kind of become blind to them as don't even consider them.
  25. Weird, that rad support has the hump at the top where the bonnet shuts. Which usually has a rubber seal across it. My 70 and 72 don't have this piece, but my 73 240z did. I don't have better photos at this stage but here is my 72. Here is my old 2+2 (260z) which was 75 year. This is after it was bent but you can see the top of the radiator support has a rubber seal. This was obviously added to help aid with cooling and create a high pressure area in front of the radiator and low pressure on the other side to get air moving through it. So if your car was plated as a 71 I'd be suspect that it hasn't already had a new rad support at some point in it's life. With regard to the front radiator support and black paint from factory. Yes they did, but only the bottom half. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/42150-what-color-did-datsun-paint-the-front-of-the-radiator-support/ Post #10 here is the best example. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/42150-what-color-did-datsun-paint-the-front-of-the-radiator-support/?p=379452
