  1. That's why I haven't bought pistons yet...
  2. Both finishes look great, on the door catch that is more like the correct colour anyway. By the way George found you another project if you're interested? If you want to bid here is the ink http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/197785109
  3. Not many Datsun's around these days in general, 2+2s were always a popular car back in the day. Don't see why they shouldn't get $16-22k for a good example now. Same car just an extra fair-lady hump. You can fit more junk in that trunk!
  4. All RS30's in Australia had this foot rest. My old 260z 2+2 had it.
  5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/181388782993 http://www.amazon.com/Toyota-2000GT-Complete-History-Supercar/dp/0932128106 As you can see it's almost expensive as the car itself, just wondering if anyone knows where you can get a copy for a reasonable price?
  6. Yeah, I still remember going down to pick-a-part in Kilsyth and seeing 240k coupe's, old skyline's with L-bangers, 280zx's, rx3 coupe's etc.. Even back then I felt that the RX3's and 240k coupe's didn't belong in there and always thought it was a shame. Now when I see cars in wrecking yards I can't help but think they all look too modern. But it's just me who's got older .
  7. A friends dad had a Toyota Crown like this in a 'Safari Gold' kind of colour, his wife used to call it "baby shit brown". $2k is cheap if it's as rust free as that photo seems to indicate.
  8. Yes it is, dealer fitted probably. When I was looking for an S30z about 15 years ago I found a wine red 260z 2+2 a guy was selling in Brighton from memory. The car drove ok - apart from a hole in the exhaust but what put me off was the vinyl roof. Now though I kinda like it seeing it on this car. I also like the metallic brown hue, but I'm partial to that colour because a neighbor had a 260z 2+2 in the same shade and it was the first time I recall really taking notice of the S30z's. Everyday I'd come home from school and walk past it in the street and just sort of look at it like "someday" haha. That car didn't have a vinyl roof though.
  9. I don't know what the unit of measurement is, the writing in the top right says "Small area at bottom of bore 3.0". You can see cylinder 2 had a smaller area at the bottom of 2.7.
  10. Will PM. I don't actually need 1 myself, I'm looking to import due to demand for them. I have a spare that could be used as a template? It's the skin itself though not the frame. After your intro thread I didn't hear much so wasn't sure if there was any progress on reproducing panels for the S30z? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=15905.new;topicseen#new I do need a beaver panel for a 240z though..
  11. I'll check when I get home but Steve Wilkins wrote down some figures for my F54 block, he stopped after Cylinder #3 because he said it wasn't good for overbore past 1mm.

  13. I'd give them a call mate. http://www.allmusclecarparts.com.au/webshop/index.php/catalogsearch/result/index/?cat=11&dir=asc&limit=15&mode=list&order=relevance&q=front+guard Maybe they are out of stock for now? http://www.allmusclecarparts.com.au/?page_id=83 I don't know of anyone doing reproduction front fenders for the S30z in Australia. Good thing is these are not that hard to find second hand and it's usually the bottom section that is flogged out due to rust. You can get that section from Rare Spares though.
  14. My only concern with doors is that they will all have some degree of rust - even if they look clean on the outside between the skin and frame you get surface rust build up. If your frames are beyond economical salvation then it makes sense to start with better doors but knowing the right type is the hard part, with 260z's in Australia I believe there might have been 3 different frames in use. So telling an American to look for 260z doors is tricky, given they only had the 260z for 1 year and the 280z after that. New door skins are cheap at $250, importing a door will be more expensive than that. Roof turrets are getting very rare, hence the reason I'm considering bringing some in for sale. Also the good thing about a roof skin is you can easily see both sides so it's harder to hide bog in them etc.. Anyway I might try and source at least 1-3 roof turrets if it works out well I'll import more if I can get my hands on them. If 10 people say they need 1, then I'll definitely bring in a couple - since a couple of people will always bail at the last minute etc..But I'm sure a roof skin will always be in need.
  15. haha I'll take a few definitely maybe's....
  16. Is that an Aston Martin in the background DB6?
  17. Hi guys, I know in the past there has been some interest in these, I may be able to source a couple from the US but with the cost of the item + shipping to depot + shipping to Australia + GST and other fees here + shipping to you. I can't see it being do-able under $1000 at this stage. I would estimate a figure of $1,200 for a good second hand roof turret but will know better once I've imported at least 1. I just wanted to get a show of interest so I know how much demand there is and whether or not this fits within budget? I may also look at other parts like doors and hatches from dry parts of the US but need to first make sure what I'm getting isn't junk..
  18. 1970 Datsun 240z. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-Base-/131506299265 HLS3017997 This thing is a good example of a bog rocket.
  19. Nice fabrication work, have you got a small metal folder there?
  20. I'll have to download rotate reupload... I feel left out I don't have any of these dealer cards. Might have to make 1 up
  21. Pretty sure they didn't get them in the North American market, so yes it's cool
  22. Pretty sure Fairlady Z-L came with the foot rest before 1974 (which was when the 260z's in Australia got them). I believe you can see them in some of the works rally cars also. Alan will be able to confirm but I also think HS30-H (A.K.A Fairlady 240ZG) had them installed. Not sure about S30Z-S models, think they were pretty basic and wouldn't have had it. I think the 432s (PS30's) had it also. (from the RM auction site: http://www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm?lot_id=1072399)
  23. Progress on conversion is slow...I've had a couple of hiccups along the way. I'm trying to iron out.. You can see my questions here: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/411910-converting-to-ips-3x-from-smf-2x-and-coppermine-14/ Screenshot for now. You can see many avatar (profile images) are broken after the conversion...
  24. Headlight covers and original 260z wheels with white walls looks great!
