Apparently an LD28 crank is 1 kg heavier than a standard L28 crank. Edit found this post from Nzeder. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/5359-l28-crank-weight/?p=60553 So anything lighter than that has gotta be an improvement.

Question about this, usually there is a 1 way valve/ball bearing in this slot. Can you tell me why it's now plugged up and what impact this might have on the motor? Does it increase oil pressure or is it redundant now with new oil filters etc..?

In my opinion it could be worth between $8-12K depending on rust or lack there of. If it runs good then that's a bonus. Slap a good roof turret on it and give it a coat of paint and she'd be worth $25k easy.

I've said it before but in my opinion the 280zx was a rapid departure from what made the earlier 240z's so special. A true sports car no frills etc.. The 280zx had all the bells and whistles and tried to move more upmarket in terms of being a luxury GT. Everything was going computerised and it was more about the gadgets. I think where the S30z departed the market, the SA22 (FB) RX-7 picked up the torch and ran with it. Early RX-7's are still cheap and I think are under appreciated, as with other early rotary's soaring in value (just look at an R100 now) the early RX-7's (and not many are original anymore) will pick up in value soon. Totally understand, that's why I've been buying less from the US lately also. Although AUD vs YEN is not much better. But I've also been buying stuff locally also where possible. I would get onto Nato in SA about the rails, better to support local where possible. Given the lack of interest shown so far, I think I'll just order the lower beaver panel for myself, repair what I got and move on...

Would be also great if you can determine if it's matching numbers car (check the engine number vs the ID plate in the engine bay to confirm?) However also check the number on the firewall. HS30 XXXXXX, it would be good to find out what number she is. I'm guessing it's a 71 model. There is a couple of cars around the HS30 009XX range that were white with blue interior. It's not very common at all for our market from what I've seen of the early cars. So could add to it's value. If you do manage to buy it you wouldn't regret it. Especially if you kept it original. Seller might also be more inclined to sell it if you promise to keep it as original as possible and return her to her former glory. I'm also curious what number it is because it has the early AU market style fender mirrors. I thought cars after HS30 00500 didn't get those, but could be wrong.

So that's why I held off buying these, I figure OEM would be best and least amount of fettling involved but I will now be ordering at least 1 for myself. I look forward to your feedback on the item. I am guessing it's being sent via Air which is expensive?

Sorry guys I purchased the passenger door and driver door skin. As with anything impossible to tell how good the door will be until blasted, but it looks relatively solid and mostly surface rust inside.

I wouldn't bother with the stock 260z kit, unless originality is a concern? I am pretty sure this company has a kit for the S30z. http://www.vintageair.com/
