  5. A very North American centric view of the S30z market. No mention of the Fairlady Z's or some of the more unique variations. But on the positive I guess it just helps build awareness of the marque.
  6. PM sent.
  7. Minor update. Les Collins had run out of internally oiled camshafts, so I had to go to my donor N42 for spares. I simply undid the cam tower bolts and lifted the cam out with the cam towers. I numbered them all from 1-5 (front to rear) and also took out the lash pads. Australia post have a special camshaft mailing device as seen below . For those that don't know the internally oiled camshafts have little holes in the lobes. Earlier engines had a spray bar that run horizontally along the camshaft and would flick oil onto the cam. The internally oiled design is better, but in order to convert to it, it's helpful to use the internally oiled cam towers also. Interestingly it had an 'A' stamp on the camshaft, I thought early 240z's had these but maybe some 280zx's also had 'A' grind cams? It doesn't really matter anyway as the camshaft profile will be changed to suit a very mild L24 (no porting etc..) build retaining SUs as induction method for now. I also sent along the front timing cover (water pump housing etc..) so that it too can be water jet blasted to suit the head and valve cover. Although will see if it's any good still when inspected by Les and Locky. It didn't appear to have massive corrosion issues but I could be wrong.
  8. Yes sorry, I deleted it as per instructed by Locky. Trip is off.
  9. Peter does it have an analog or digital clock?
  10. Keep rattling on about buying an ashtray off me . Dude isn't even a smoker.
  11. I'm sorry that asking about the original colour has caused all this fuss. I just assumed it was originally blue from all the photos I saw until I saw the interior colour. It's good to know what colour it was originally for the record as it helps us determine what other cars around the same build number should/could have been originally. It's all part of the puzzle. I think sticking to the original colour palette is a safe option. I can also totally relate to the increasing value of these cars swaying your decision. Remember I originally wanted to build a rat rod out of HS30 00150 but that's of course somewhat changed now. My 72 240z was going to get flares and big wheels etc.. Now it's slowly going more and more original. I'm sure whatever you decide in the end will be great.

  13. I love 918 Kalahari Tan, so you can't go wrong there. In terms of blue I like the factory blue as seen on Kats car. (So glad we didn't get the door buzzers here).
  14. Datsun Spirit Yahoo! http://sellinglist.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/user/datsun_spirit Actually based in the US but I sometimes see him advertise items on Yahoo! Auctions Japan also. https://datsunspirit.com/

  18. Redemption is just a click away, start here and scroll down the page. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/429-what-you-would-like-your-z-to-look-like/?p=166689 But in all seriousness, paint it whatever colour you like.
  19. More thread merging. No need for additional threads guys.
  20. Not an S30z but a dirt cheap P510 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/creswick/cars-vans-utes/datsun-1972-datto/1102027027 Price: $2000 I figure a Datsun nut may be interested.
  21. Quick everyone rush out and buy 2+2s lol... It is an original example though, down to the tires.
  22. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/linden-park/auto-body-parts/datsun-260z-parts/1102407899 Says original 5 speed gear knob. Good price if it's true.
  23. Thread going nuts here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14267-z432-edward-lees/ Although I may merge it here or in the thread decided to Edward Lee's shenanigans for better search engine visibility.
  24. I agree I wouldn't pull it apart unless you have to, better to enjoy it and drive it around. Get a feel for it, do other things first. Then decide what you want to do in terms of taking it apart and restoring etc.. Although from the photos it looks great. Only thing I would change myself is the wheels, sort of a popular style in the early 2000s but a nice set of period wheels would really enhance the look.
  25. LOL, 280zx fans? There are dozens of you! DOZENS! In fairness it is a tidy looking 2+2, a lot of parts are early S30z adaptations it looks like.
