I would like to thank Gavin Doyle & some other members here for their assistance regarding a clients set of 48mm Webers, linkages & manifold that were stolen from our workshop. Our client informs me that hopefully the Oakleigh Police will recover them shortly. In the event that somebody has been offered these carburetors please let me know by personal email so I can pass the information onto the Police. Unfortunately this is not the first time stuff has been stolen from us. Cheers guys - Lindsay

I had assumed he was 'strongly advised' to return them. Anyway it's very sad that this kind of things happens. I can definitely relate to this as someone who bought parts worth about 400 pounds for my RX-7 had them sent to the wrong person (sellers fault) and then when I called the place that received them was told never seen them. A couple of months later the idiot tried to list the parts on a local forum and we caught him out. Got the parts back. Then I also had my FD RX-7 stolen and damaged which was gutting. Then after buying a rare set of Type RZ Recaro seats for my FD on eBay noticed someone posted the exact same set on Gumtree (at half price!), after contacting the seller he said it wasn't him and we had the add removed. I've heard all sorts of stories like someone turns up to buy something - from say Gumtree and then is robbed for the cash by a couple of thugs. I can't stand people who do this kind of thing. They should be castrated. I also tried to post a reminder warning on the site last night about buying from members who are new to the community (this member had 0 posts). However my internet connection was dodgy and dropped out as I hit the submit button. Anyway it's a good reminder that we should be careful when dealing with people we don't know and any purchase of goods. Preferably deal with established members in the community and if buying from a new member be extra vigilant and careful. Always take a friend - don't go on your own if meeting someone, meet them in a public area if possible and don't take large wads of cash with you until you've seen the good and are happy with the situation.

Yeah something along the lines of... I know what they are worth but I'll sell them to the highest bidder in the next 2 weeks. No phone number, no picture (at first) and very little details. He also couldn't tell you any specs on them in terms of chokes or venturis or whatever webers use . Just said it was on L28 worked good.

dazzed Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I think thats great it just goes to show how close knit the zed enthusiates are , there is the Z car register , face it if your 240Z was stolen , whoever stole it what could they possibly do with it ? they could store it and thats all so why steal it , the numbers and vin engine numbers cant be changed and they cant drive it so what would be the point , they would be busted in no time and the owner would have their car back pretty quick , It just goes to show how unique this marque of car is , im sure you will get your carbs back Lindsay

Be interesting to know the outcome of this, Probably end up with a little slap on the wrist. Name and shame, address, phone numbers, etc, so anyone else, in future, does not get caught out. Simon, how close did you come to this bloke? Oh, and Welcome to Lindsay, a long time Zedder, and now managing to do this internet thing. Just wait till someone asks you to post up a photo! I'm still confused, join the club.

He said he had 48mm webbers on a datsun manifold. He was a 35-40 year old Caucasian kind of chubby and short hair. If you like i can get Freddy to go through his surveilance and get the car and rego he came in. He seemed to know bugger all about Z's so i think he's a non enthusiast.

Was a scum sucking idiot that had worked for us previously. Never take pity on losers. They will try & reduce you to their level. The owner of the 48's just informed me that the Police will recover them shortly Yes we & other local traders have been robbed hard before. There is a rehab - just got out of prison house virtually around the corner. Then a client wasn't going to be using his R200 LSD for quite a while. We stupidly fitted & loaned it to what we thought was a good fellow/client that I am informed very regularly writes on your forum. Took 12 months & a visit from the owners Policeman brother to recover it. Customers cars get badged in our car park - a box of original door mirrors walked. We operate from a 3/4 acre factory all concentrating on cars we are repairing. On average 20 people a day wander in to visit. Some think we are pick a part & shove it in your jacket spares. Will swiftly change their names to Neal if we catch them.

Lindsay could not pay me for my work so he begged me to stay working and gave me the webers. I said to him once he can pay me I will give them back as I had no use for them other wise I would sell them. Another week went past and he couldn't pay me again so I walked out on him. A week or so later I asked him to fix me up what he owes me and offered the webers back to him but he could not afford to pay me my weeks work Nor for the webers back. I have spoken to the police about all this and they agreed with me that the webers are mine. Lindsay is trying to say that the webers belong to a customer of his called bob Rogers but the truth is Lindsay is in that much debt he had to sign over his business to bob when he went to jail a few years back. So everything Lindsay owns is in bob Rogers name not a customer. I did pull the webers off this forum as the police were investigating it and it has all come up clear.

And all the interior parts of mine you have. How bout every one on here google Lindsay drife's name and also Zshops name and see how credible he is. Also in the 2 months I worked there 4 staff walked out on you cause you could not pay them. Also your incompetent dodgy work you forced your workers to do. Like charging for new parts using second hand parts. What about the twin turbo motor I put in the burgundy 300 that had 80psi compression on one of the cylinders. Or the heater core you charged 1200 to supply and fit used a second hand one it leaked then u put bars leak in it. Your poor customers. Lindsay everyone knows how dodgy you are. And the few customers you still have left will realize soon enough.
