Joiji
Sorry to bother you Saxon, but where did you get your carpet kit from? Do they also stock 2+2 kits? Looks good so far. Look forward to seeing how the AZC kits go in.
saxon
No worries joiji. They are from tru-fit in frankston vic. I wouldnt recommend buying from them unless you can take your car there. I didnt hear from them for 6 weeks after buying. Turns out they had 3 different templates and werent sure which one to use, and didnt figure it would be a good idea to contact me to let me know. In the end i went there and he found the right one. If they fit as well as they look ill forgive them
Administrators gav240z Posted September 22, 2011 Administrators Share Posted September 22, 2011 Awesome wheel choice and nice rust removal work Lurch. My Zed has issues around the same area at the front due to a small front end bingle so hopefully we can sort that out 1 day Lurch .
Administrators gav240z Posted September 22, 2011 Administrators Share Posted September 22, 2011 By the way may I ask what the wheels set you back? I was thinking those wheels would look great on my FD RX-
saxon
Was 4k with tyres shipped to the door. Would have been 3.8 if i shipped them seperate but a miscommunication led me to believe the shipping included gst.
C.A.R.
I've been a tad busy with work over the last few weeks, but I've got a bit done recently. A few more pics: Front PS guard was a bit sad: I've also finished the PS door repairs, but I dont have any photos atm...
saxon
Hi all, I got my Zed back from Lurch on Thursday after a bit of body work. Today I've spent a little bit of time putting the wheels and the front spoiler on. I'm happy with the wheels. They fit straight on without coilovers. Just needs to be lowered an inch. I am tossing up now whether to just sell the Arizona Z coilover set I got. Not 100% sure on that yet though. The fit of the front spoilier is okay, but I'll need to drill some new holes into it to bolt it up properly. Also had an absolute pain in the bum with indicator/fog lights. The screws are totally rusted up. I think I'll just get new ones cause they are in pretty bad condition (like the rest of the car). I've got a fibreglass front bumper which I'm spray painting black and that will go on soon. Eventually though, the front spoiler, flares, bumper, and rear spoiler will be resprayed so the shade of black matches. Happy times! Moderators Zedman240® Posted November 27, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 27, 2011 I have to admit the flares look great on the zed but I still can't take a grinder to my rust free arches! If there was nothing there but rust, I wouldn't think twice! Why not fit the coilovers? I'm getting ready to fit some to my zed once again.. luvemfast
Starting to look good Hamish. If you don't fit the coilovers, you'll regret it!

Personally, I'm a fan of Zeds both with and without flares. Just go with whatever you think is best for your car and don't worry about chopping it up. I think you guys are right about the coilovers, will have a good long think about it.
Agno
Just needs to be lowered an inch. Only an inch? How far off the ground are your chassis rails? At the moment mine are at about 65mm and to pull those rims off I dare say you may have to go a fair amount lower than an inch Looking tops though! I'll measure to see but theres not a lot i can move down. Maybe I'll get less streched tires to fill out the arches a bit more if needed. saxon
Having the worst day! Went to Bunnings and got a pair of long bolts for my bumper, and in the pack, one of the nuts is missing! Then I go to start up my car, it turns over a few times, stops, but the starter motor keeps going. It starts wizzing and smoking, I can't stop it, a couple of minutes later it dies. I don't think I'll be able to fix it before Saturday :(:(:(:(:(
Riceburner
Do you have a different starter to try? It could've just been the contacts welding closed inside the starter, due to age or poor connection..... A VL commodore or R31 skyline starter is a cheap upgrade, bout $30. saxon
Alrighty, a bit of an update. My project 260z is taking a bit of a turn. I never intended to do a lot of performance mods, but after hanging around you guys, the bug is catching on. I really love my car and I want it to drive as mean as it's going to look. I going to stick with the L series engine and keep it NA with triple carbs. I want to keep the character of the original Z, and don't really want to stuff around with engineers anyway. After seeing Peters legendary work with motors, a PMC engine is at the top of my list. I just have to decide now how hot I want it. I am entertaining the idea of getting a 3.1L stroker... when I told my dad how much I was thinking of spending on that, he almost took my head off. It's probably totally beyond what I need, but it's so tempting! One thing is for sure, I'm gonna have to live at home for a bit longer to pay for this expensive habit Cheers, Hamish
C.A.R.
You won't need a stroker, Hamish - a L29 is all you will need. Remember: Bulk revs = fun

Remember: Bulk revs = fun Coming from someone who spent big money to get l14 rods and an ld28 crank. I couldn't agree more the l28 or l29 is all you need. Its mostly in the engine head work where you get power anyway displacement helps but it isn't worth the additional expense imo. I'll still build an l31 because I have the gear but I would have done things different given the same optns again.

Retro Z
That looks fantastic!. The lighting makes it look exactly like the shade of orange I just bought for when my 240 gets painted. What colour are you painting yours Saxon?
saxon
Thanks guys! Yeah the colour I am going to paint it will be a bright orange, similar to how it looks in the pics. Was inspired by a car on hybridz. So we will probably have a similar colour.
