Wow..Almost 12 months passed since my last post, time flies..I finally managed to get motivated to complete my car. Its been sitting arroud collecting dust in my garage while I pay rego and insurance. Madness!. I actually sold my very special "other" car and was motivated to buy early 90's 964 from a client of mine, but at the very last minute, with a bank cheque in my hand, he renigged on a deal and pulled out. Was going to backdate the Carrera to early 70's and was getting very excited about that project, but comes Australia Day 2015 and I get this SMS...

"Sorry, but I cannot sleep at night, some may think its crazy, but I cannot sell my car, I'm sorry for this waste of time."...So, I'm disappointed and nothing else around, so I think time to finish off my Z.

Week off and all bits a back together, seats, belts, carpets, etc. I take a car on a spin up to the Blue mountains 8pm 2 weeks ago. Running the engine in I take it nice and easy with varying RPM and on and off throttle. Coolish 22C, Windsor, bang....Car cuts off. So, I'm stuck, quick call to a friendly towie (11pm) and I'm on my way back of a flat top :(  Seems dizzy module went cactus, so easy fix, but annoying and probably the only old part on the entire engine management (new/rebuilt dizzy. fuel pump, sparks, coil, leads, ect, etc...

Got a new module and couldn't wait to drive the Z again. Took it out on an old Pacific Highway last weekend. Car pulled stronger again, but I cant corner too hard as my rear are scrubbing at speed. Time to install flares.

OK, so flares installed and more bits and pieces back on (new badges, rear bar, etc). Car looking good BUT....Lowering next. I have rear coilovers sent from TTT and a lot of other components on the way. Time to bring it lower to the ground and wider rear wheel.

LOL, with that much travel, I can even attempt some 'air' off one of the local hills :) , but with all seriousness, this thing needs to go down.

OK, so she's back from SWA with limited slip diff, coil overs lowered (needs to go lower again), suspension reworked, bits and pieces and an $11K bill LOL. Love the way the car handles now. I'm removing the silly hook at back I placed there just to see how it looked. New rear Watanabes are rubbish. Sending back to Otomotto to replace or repair as they came in from OS badly warped out of the box.

Hey. Thanks Very Much!..The car is getting there, far from perfect (for me), but its a constant WIP to keep me on the straight and narrow. Recently purchased another Z, this one original (well, very close to) so keeping me very ZHappy right now.

Not sure of any Z owners in and around my area. Very illusive bunch :)

You're in the Hills ? If so you may see me in the area later in the year.

My car is very close to being on the road and my folks live in Castle Hill.

Cheers

I've recently moved to Baulkham Hills from Perth. My Z isn't here yet (or even roadworthy) but will hopefully see yours getting around :)

Great!..Lets get the Z vibe going on in the Hills :)

Exhaust done..6 to 2 all the way. Experimenting with two setups. This one has 4 dogs running centre and end (2 on each line). Sounds great, but I think its still too muzzled. I think I will go to the 1 on each line route next.

Finishing touches on the engine bay. Will fix the fuel lines a bit nicer soon, but I will need to take things out one day as I do want to paint it the same colour as the rest of the car, but its not important to me right now and I'm just enjoying the car. Next, the seats. With the much improved handling, the old seats are annoying now. Researching what to do with it, want a clean look and nothing I see fits the bill right now.

Cheers George!..Bought them with my Mikunis and never saw anything like this again. The land of the raising Sun shines throughout this engine bay :), just need to get away from the silly K&N filters!..Anything Jap out there?

Experimenting with rear exhaust. The set of 4 dogs worked very well, but now trying 2 dogs as resonators (one on each line) and nothing at back. Lets see how she sounds tomorrow. I just dont want any mufflers at back and its a bit of a trial and error to get it just right for me.

Getting New seats soon and a harness.

Hey Andrew, will be very keen to see how the over under slash cut double reversed dogs work out. Love the look and will be after same, good luck with them!

OK, so got the end-pipes with no dogs and the sounds is a lot more aggressive, as I wanted (it was already with 4 dogs), but now creates unfavourable note past 5,000 RPM which I don't like at all. Looks like I needs something in-between so fitting up the rear dogs again, this time 1/2 the the previous model length which should, in theory, give me the in-between sound I'm after (slightly more aggressive than the 4 long dogs, but without the top end note I get in the current no rear dogs format)

Have been enjoying the car a bit, driving to and from the office, but still not happy with the exhaust note, so now building custom rear silencer with a help of few people in the know, will be adding baffle plates and shortening various tubes to get the sound I want. Meanwhile getting bored with all red look and over a beer, we decided to give her some decals :)
