Hey guys I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on these gauges, the first is a Z432 tacho, the second is one I was bidding on yahoo japan but missed  :'( It appears to have all the same markings as other zed tacho's and was listed for S30Z but goes to 10,000.....  8)

Anyone know what it's off and if so where to find one?? I do know there's intrument resto places that will make up new dial plates and calibrate gauges for required scale and engine but I imagine it would be very expensive....

I must have one! ;D

Thanks, Gareth.

Well Gareth my question would be why do you want a tacho to go to 10,000 rpm. You know having a tacho going that high doesn't help your motor rev that far.    :)

Lol. Yeah, but it will give the illusion that it can go close to 10,000 ;D

I just like them cause they're very unique. I do call it the riceburner so it's fitting with the theme

Hmmm I think the only people you will be fooling with the 10K tacho will be people who wouldn't know any better. But each to their own and I respect that.

You know what would really be impressive is a tacho with shift lights in it. Now your talking cool, modern and even practical.

Hmmm I think the only people you will be fooling with the 10K tacho will be dumb people who wouldn't know any better. Not the sort of people worth impressing really.

I thought that was reserved for peeps with carby V8's?  :P

In a manual car, I don't have a problem with high range tacho's; it's when you see massive 15,000 RPM tacho's with huge shiflights in an auto Hyundai Excel?

How did you do that Garvice, I was thinking I might be able to get a vinyl overlay done and the gauge calibrated to suit....

I know what you mean craig, There's definately a wank factor but if it's a factory lookalike or original then it's a little cool IMHO.

I could always put it on my turbo diesel triton  :-X redline at 4,000 hehe.

thats what I was thinking garvice. Though rather then getting it re calibrated, purchase a 10000 rpm gauge and fit it into the original housing with a new overlay to look factory!!

All the details are in the link I provided above, but here it is again if you missed it.

The night time photos do not do this justice, the needle lights up really well and the numbers are so much nicer then the dull factory green light.

That other one isn't a C10 GT-R tacho is it?

I have no idea there was nothing on the listing other than s30z... The back of the gauge was the same as 260z tach (+12v, neutral, and negative from coil) no inductive loop????

Hi , old post, but if somebody are still interrested, I sent my old speedometer 0-240km/h to this company and got it back as 0-340km/h perfect calibrated and looked as new, fantastic job.

They can rebuild your tachometer to 10000rpm and if you want a very impressing speedometer 0-400km/h , they can do that too.

A friend with family in Japan did the shipping and contacted the company for me and i am 100% satisfied.

So what would you want a 10K tach someone asked - well maybe you are building a race car that will rev/shift at 8500rpm (doable with the L6) so the 8K item is out + the factory items has accuratcy issues usually above 6000rpm.

But the answer to the original post is above - there is a place in Japan that converts the stock tach to replicate the look of the Z432 10K item - it will never be a Z432 10K item as they like many of the Z432 parts are special ;)

Or Nissan V8s that can rev to 8900+

Thread revival but I've been working away on this, want to get some samples silk screen printed locally if I can and see how they turn out.

Sports Option Catalog Tach, usually combined with CDI ignition.

Forgive my ignorance but isn't the yellow line on the 10k RPM tacho an adjustable needle?

Yes it is, I just added in the needles for effect.
