Retro Z Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I am originally from Victoria, and when I moved up I refused to change my reg and lose my plates. Plus I don't get picked on much with the Vic plates Ahh I see. I thought if your local id drop by and say hi when the strut braces arrive. Quote
saxon Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Nice photos man. Don't change the colour!!! This is my favourite car on this website, it looks so tough like that. Quote
zzzzed Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 trouble is if he left it in primer 5 or 10 years down the track it would be a giant wheet bix because primer will not seal out the moisture and it will rust Quote
Stivva Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 I don't mind the colour as is either. I think it pulls it off with the clean wheels and low ride height. But I have always wanted to paint it so I must prepare the body for this major overhaul. Tonight I sanded back the bottom of my drivers door skin and sanded out a little bit of rust from here and there. Smoothed her over and hit her up with a little primer. Only problem is that now the car is two shades of primer Quote
saxon Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Okay if you aren't gonna keep it like that, then what colour primer is that, I will make my car that colour and spray it in low gloss clear so it doesn't turn into a weetbix Quote
Sirpent Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 The car does look great in the color scheme Stiva has come up with, but Mick is 100% correct about the longevity of the car in a primer. And putting a clear over a primer wont work, primer is not paint and is too porous to even attempt something like that, it has no UV properties what so ever. Looking at the color, and if you wanted something to look similar but with some bang, I would be looking at a grey based pearl white as on the Bently pictured, it isnt white, nor grey nor silver and a class looking color. Have to go now, Top Gear Australia's started and I need to chuck up. Quote
Stivva Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Just go down to your local painter and ask for a gloss grey and don't put a clear on it. On less a paint has a metallic it can have a smooth finish and not require a clear. Or you can try a grey called Berlin grey and clear it for a gloss grey. Quote
saxon Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Thanks for ideas. Will see how I go. I'm sure I'll love the new colour too though, that test panel looks pretty darn cool. Can't wait to see the result! Quote
Stivva Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Still more highlights to come with that test panel. Bought new clear side repeaters and have been redoing the 260z badges with pink highlights to match the wheels rather than oranges. Wait and see before you judge. Quote
RB30X Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I think we all judged you a long time ago stiva ;D Especially after seeing what you had on your head in that latest magazine Quote
Stivva Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 Thats my Tigger hat from tokyo disneyland. Everyone was doing it. Quote
Stivva Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 Little teaser for you all. Now to do the rest of the car. Quote
Stivva Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Front flares are on now, I just need to do the rears and then get the car ready for the panel shop. Moving into overdrive now. Quote

fufu Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 omg sakura rims... what a baller! very nice! Stivva, Are those HIDs or Diamond Visions? Looking at getting replacements for mine. Mine just feels like 2 small candles lit. Quote
Stivva Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 The headlights are diamond vision globes and the Parker lights are white LEDS. I hope to get the rear flares on this evening. Quote
RB30X Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 The headlights are diamond vision globes How do these install? Quote
Stivva Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 Just have to purchase a semi sealed beam headlight and install the H3 globes. Simple! Quote
saxon Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 ooooo I just noticed your display pic. Is it done??? Quote
Stivva Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Not done yet, just something I whipped up in Photoshop. I went to a JDMST meet on friday and I found these photos on the web yesterday from a bunch of other photographers. Its nice to see photos taken by others for once. Quote
Brabham Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Love the wheels Stivva. Did they come in that color or you resprayed them? I am guessing you resprayed them. Quote
BobsYourUncle Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 They come that colour - http://www.wheeltechwheels.com.au/rota-wheels Not sure I'm a fan of the colour, but I do like the look of the amount of sidewall height you get with 15's. Quote
Riceburner Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Looks tuff Stiva Thats some huge offset! Have you had any luck increasing the guard clearance when turning? Quote
Stivva Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 Not really, but I am going to try a new set of tyres instead. I have a 195/65 now so I am going to try a 195/55. I think that will be the way to go. Quote
