uktowners Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hi all My name is Paul and I live in the uk (portsmouth) I have bought a 260z 1975 and it arrives tomorrow. I have always wanted one but have a wedding to pay for next december! I bought it with the intention of getting it running an tidying it up to sell BUT the previous - previous owner wants it scrapped or the car destroyed! (it was his fathers). I am going to propose to him that it goes abroad that way the car gets saved! Does anyone know roughly how much the car is worth in Oz? plus any idea of container/import costs to australia (this will enable to work out the approx asking price for the car)? and also i need to know how to tell the difference between a 2 seater and a 2+2?? I will find out more tomorrow about the car and try and get some pics up - i bought it blind so have no idea what its like other than its burgandy/red colour and been of the road for a number of years (but its complete). Cheers in advance Paul Quote
luvemfast Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I suppose you want us to deposit some money into your account to send it over here? Sorry, but has possibility to be a bit dodgey. There are lots of scams like this going around, so you will have to prove to be genuine to us. Trying to sell a car from overseas as a first post never looks good. But I'm sure people would be interested in more info. Quote

modular9 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Taking your initial post at face value. 1. You buy a zed 2. previous owner wants to scrap it in some sort of "King George scuppering his yacht so no one else can sail it after I am dead" (I'm a history nut ) . 3. you say " hey I know We'll send it over seas that way the car gets saved " instead of insisting on your rights as a purchaser. 4. We send money. I'll sign up for that. After the cheque from the Nigerian prince clears and my teeth whitening products appear I will be sending you some money. Quote
herrods Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Hi there im interested in purchasing the car. Couple of quick questions re the condition of it. Is it original with the 5.7L motor? or has it been modified to take the 6 Litre one? Also has the motor been converted for twin turbo or left as a supercharger set up? I was just wondering also what the condition of the rear seats was like, esp the middle seat belt, i have found a couple where the middle seat is not in the greatest condition. Also is this one of the ones to come factory with 4 pot front brakes or just the original single pot front and rears. Are the recaro original seats still in good nick? Cheers Quote
Sirpent Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Ship it back to Japan, I hear they are paying top dollar to get them back now, and it's RHD so a bonus for them. Quote
T.A.P Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I am ready to buying it now but I am at mine at the moment as I am a mining engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but I sneaked off work and squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. Car probably worth around 30K in any condition but Ill pay you 35K just to secure the deal plus any shipping fee from your world to mine. I really want the car to be a surprise for a friend whom I never knew before so i wont let him know anything about the car until it gets delivered to him, i am sure he will be more than happy with the car. I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking and more importantly no money, but i can pay from my "other" paypal account, i will need you to give me your paypal email address so i can make the payments asap for the car and please if you don't have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com.au Web site registration will take only 5 minutes just get back to me as soon as you get back to me registered and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through. I have a pick up agent from Interpol that will come and pick the car up after i have made the payments... Thanks Quote
reverendzed Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Until you guys know how authentic this UK Forum member is, I'd keep your sarcasm in check, this certainly isn't the online community behaviour which I've been used to over the last 4 years! Rev. Quote
mossy Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 If you've bought it what say has the other guy got in scrapping it-none. Quote
C.A.R. Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Highly suspicious, but I'm with the Rev - let just see where this goes. (I do however, find it strange the 'previous, previous owner' wants the Zed destroyed. What rights does he have, to decide with whats to be done with the Zed? Very strange...). Quote
Zeddophile Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Sounds like it should be blue, with a 3.1 litre stroker, two turbos and triple carbs, and flares. Make sure the Devil Z gets scrapped! Quote
Aaron Neubauer Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Make sure the Devil Z gets scrapped! The devil Z can never be scrapped! NEVER!!!! Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Its worth more in the UK than it is over here. People ship Aussie cars to the UK, not vice-versa. Who cares what the previous-previous owner wants done with it. They have no say in it once it was sold. If he wants it scrapped so much, suggest that he buys it for whatever you are asking for it, then he can do what he likes with it. You get the cash, he gets to fulfill his fathers wishes or whatever. Win-win situation for all. Quote
T.A.P Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I bought it with the intention of getting it running an tidying it up to sell BUT the previous - previous owner wants it scrapped or the car destroyed! (it was his fathers). I am going to propose to him that it goes abroad that way the car gets saved! Rev I understand where you're coming but the quote above does not make any sense. He bought it so what say does the PO have? Pracically none....I too have received a few scam offers from carsales since my other car is up there and thats probably why I'm on my high guard. If he indeed, a legit seller than I apologise but if not then GTFO. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 15, 2010 Administrators Posted January 15, 2010 Hi all My name is Paul and I live in the uk (portsmouth) I have bought a 260z 1975 and it arrives tomorrow. I have always wanted one but have a wedding to pay for next december! I bought it with the intention of getting it running an tidying it up to sell BUT the previous - previous owner wants it scrapped or the car destroyed! (it was his fathers). I'll agree with the others it just doesn't add up. You have purchased the car, its on its way to your place and now you have a wedding to pay for so you want to sell it again? I am going to propose to him that it goes abroad that way the car gets saved! Why does it matter if it goes abroad? As oppose to stay in the UK? Why send it to Australia which is so far away, when you could send it anywhere else in Europe say like Ireland? There are some people over in Ireland looking to get into a Z and its so close. Does anyone know roughly how much the car is worth in Oz? plus any idea of container/import costs to australia (this will enable to work out the approx asking price for the car)? and also i need to know how to tell the difference between a 2 seater and a 2+2?? First of all the car is worth more in the UK and Ireland than in Australia. In Australia the cars are vastly under valued when compared with the rest of the world. The 2+2 has 4 seats, so if you have back seats in your Z then its obviously not a 2 seater. I will find out more tomorrow about the car and try and get some pics up - i bought it blind so have no idea what its like other than its burgandy/red colour and been of the road for a number of years (but its complete). Bought it blind, but you know its complete? Please do post pictures. Paul I hope you can see why our forum members are skeptical to say the least. Please be aware when you use this website or any other website for that matter your IP address is recorded and on this site logged. If we have any reason to suspect this may be a scam I'll have no qualms about notifying your ISP. I have verified that your Ip address appears to be from Great Britain so at least so far, you appear genuine. Quote
NZeder Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Why send it to Australia which is so far away You guys don't think it is anything to do with the prices Edward Lee is looking for his zed? aka http://www.japaneseautocentre.com.au/el so other countries are thinking AU zed prices are high = thing they can make some $$ and look like you are getting a bargain - when they don't know the it is going to take Ed a long time to sell those cars. First of all the car is worth more in the UK and Ireland than in Australia. In Australia the cars are vastly under valued when compared with the rest of the world.See above for the reason If we have any reason to suspect this may be a scam I'll have no qualms about notifying your ISP. I have verified that your Ip address appears to be from Great Britain so at least so far, you appear genuine. I notice he has not replied since - so, if he does not then this is a scam, and I say let his ISP know Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 16, 2010 Administrators Posted January 16, 2010 I notice he has not replied since - so, if he does not then this is a scam, and I say let his ISP know Give it a bit of time I say, if his IP address returned somewhere in Nigeria he would have been blocked and banned and IP banned from the server. However it still remains to be seen what this guy is on about. Quote

Mr240z Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Its very bright red! and is complete less 2 badges! Yesterday he didn't know the difference between a 2 seater and a 2+2, And today he says it complete - 2 badges. (strange) And the way he writes, doesn't sound right to me, for a English man. Quote

Since the forum is mostly Australian members. Usually people introduce themselves, but I guess under your circumstance you were looking to sell it as soon as possible. Often we have spam and scammers register on the forum and post gobbledegook about sending them money via paypal or other kinds of scams. So it was more the vagueness of your post that got people suspicious than anything else. All the best and after your wedding perhaps you will get into a 240/260 again. Quote
