Hi guys, recently i gave my dad a couple of clocks to see if he could fix them. He went right over them and did fix them. So i gave him another members clock to fix and he repaired this one too! So i have asked him if he would like me to post an ad on here to generate some business for him, which he obviously accepted.

My dads retired these days but still has some light work coming in from wesfarmers as he repairs electric fences for them.

Im just trying to keep dad active and help you guys out too with this offer as i know theres not too many working clocks in the zeds out there.Im sure he'd be able to takle the rally clocks also.

Because of the time involved in this repair hes asking only $50 per clock plus postage. He will only fix the clock, not refurbishing the entire housing and making it look pretty.

As it takes about 2 hrs to fault find, replace dead component's and then get the time calibrated over a couple of days.

If your interested PM me and ill forward on my dads details to you.

Thanks,Simon.

Silly question, but can you reach the clock in the 240z without removing the entire dash? Heater panel removed should provide enough yeah?

Should be able to get it out if you take the heater panel out. Once the heater panel is out there is one screw under the clock holding the it in. If that fails then it can be helpful to remove the glovebox as mentioned by Cozza.

What kind of clocks has he worked on so far? Early 240z clocks sound different to the ones you describe.

My clocks are from early 75 260z 2+2 and the other members clock was 77. These clocks were slightly different in bold nubering but yes they are different from the 240z clock which he hasnt worked on yet. But they are the same principle being pre quartz design and im certain hes up to the job. Hes very electronic savy and was a tv technician when i was a kid so this simple circuit board definitely doesn't overwhelm him.

I wouldn't post this ad if i thought id be wasting peoples time. He has even gone to the extent of ordering bulk capacitors and resistors that hes has found to be the failed components in the clocks so far.

Andrews got it sorted, its really simple as i found the other day; Remove the 4 screws holding your heater panel, once your in behind that there's one screw under the clock on the 'strap' holding it in place, take that out then it just takes a bit of a jiggle and the undoing of an electrical connector then the clock will pop right out, the 'strap' stays attached to the dash. Only a 5 min job

Dad is sending back a fixed Jeco clock to its owner today. The same member will be forwarding on another one or two for repair now. So he has now worked on all the pre quartz clocks and is willing and has all parts for a quick turn around. Pull your finger out boys as dad does have health issues and wont be round forever. Just pm me and ill forward on his details. I dont get anything from this, just piece of mind knowing hes pre occupied with somthing to do.

I've got a few sitting in a box. Need to pull the 1 out of HS30 01415 and replace it with a Quartz modified Jeco. May send them up to your dad then.

Quick note to say we received the clock back very promptly and is now installed and working well. Many thanks to James for a job well done.

Second clock on its way.

I would like to send out a big thanks to the many members who have given my old man their clocks to be repaired. He has been very successful in getting them all working again. Could i ask that the people that he has helped out to write some feedback on here on your experience so people sitting on the fence can feel at ease and not be hesitant to send theirs off too.

Cheers guys

Hey mate,

I started to have a play with mine and got a few of them working. So I decided to keep going, however I went to JayCar to find the replacement capacitors and resistors for the later 260z clocks, but haven't had a go at repairing it yet. If that fails I'll send you mine for the old man to fix.

I just wanted to say a huge shoutout and thanks to Jim for fixing my clock.

My clock was intermittent and needed a good thumb to start it. I sent it to Jim and he found pick up coil was open circuit on one winding. He even got hold of a microscope to try and find the brake.

He has worked miracles and got the clock working again.

He is a legend. Can’t recommend his work highly enough.
