Order Of Assembly

Starting with a bare shell, what is the rough order of assembly that will be most efficient and avoid putting parts on and taking them off unnecessarily?

Take boot, bonnet and doors off

Insulation - you may need to temporarily mount the pedal box (etc?) to mark out mating surfaces not to be covered with insulation.

install heater and all under-dash stuff, pedal box, vents, bonnet cable, etc., 

brake booster, m/c and hard lines - plus h/brake mechanism - plus clutch m/c and line.

fuel tank and lines

suspension

brakes

loom

wiper assembly

engine, drivetrain, exhaust

finish engine bay

dash

interior / glass

refit hinged panels

have lunch

Well done Peter...sounds like you have done that before...I was going to say start with the heater core because if any one has had to remove one it's obvious that this is the part that  goes in first....but I didn't think George would need that sort of lame reply first up.......all the best with the assembly George

Sounds like Peter is on the money. I recommend you follow Kate Kids build. He has done a fantastic job of detailing his assembly.

I would hold off on putting the windscreen in until your happy with the Dash.

After putting heater core in, examine hands and wash in brake clean or other similar solvent, have beer, check wallet, pack it all up and onto a truck and pay someone else to go through the pain........

Seriously though.

 

Grab a heap of cheap towells from K-Mart or similar and cover everything with them. Cheap insurance against a devistating scratch.

 

Get help with anything of any size, an extra pair of hands makes all the difference.

Been away for work all week so missed this post.

 

Apart from Forgetting the insulation I'm pretty comfortable with what I've done so far and it mirrors Peter's suggestions.

 

Good luck George, just take your time and don't rush it.
