Moderators PB260Z Posted October 27, 2016 Moderators Posted October 27, 2016 Agree that would be early Patrol, among others. Quote
theremm Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 To my knowledge there was only 1 HS30 manufactured in 1969 and my assumption is that it was HS30 0003. Therefore almost all HS30's sold in Australia were 1970 models. The very first cars had a Nissan 2400 OHC cover, which appears to be cut off around HS30 00090 range.. From what I've gathered. This coincides with a June/July build date - which is when it appears HLS30's stopped receiving the cover also. HS30 00150 appears to have been built in August/September and just missed out on the early style cover, along with HS30 00149 and HS30 00151 all 3 didn't have that style cover. Interesting to note that HLS30 03156 manufactured 1970 has the Nissan 2400 OHC cover as per this ebay ad. No photo of ID plate so just going off what is quoted in the ebay ad. Who knows whether the cover was fitted at a later date. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-/142159020486?forcerrptr=true&hash=item21195681c6:g:xkYAAOSwo4pYDf29&item=142159020486 Quote

It would have been built around April, May or June I believe. You can read more about build dates and HLS30 #s here. http://zhome.com/History/1970or1971.html Edit actually here is a better reference. http://www.zhome.com/IZCC/ZRegisters/classic.htm Quote
mossy Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 What are the standard nissan OHC rockers worth? Quote
CBR Jeff Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 The orange one would be worth heaps.. :-) I don't think the normal "Nissan OHC" covers are worth anything but the big "Nissan" covers can go for a few $ as they are a bit more unique. I have seen them for upwards of $400 on some auction sites? I'm sure Gav will know. The "2400" ones are the $$ items. Jeff Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 21, 2017 Administrators Posted August 21, 2017 Try flog the "Big" but smaller version you have of the Nissan cover off to the guys in the US. Might get lucky and get $250 USD for it? I dunno.. The others are not worth that much depends on what someone is willing to pay you for it, but like anything are getting rarer and rarer these days.. mossy Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I thought I might try and hang onto the Big letter version Gav, I did't think the others were worth much. It seems it wasn't that long ago L28's were worth much but I see now they are starting to get good money. Quote
mossy Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 I ended up getting these hydroblasted, they come up pretty good, some streaking but I imagine that might be from previous oil stains that have soaked into the metal? Got to decide which to use on my build now. cracker, CBR Jeff and Ponyo240z 3 Quote
GregTas Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 The original Nissan OHC. A more period look mossy 1 Quote
Andrew_L26 Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 So what's the go with the Elephant oil caps. I managed to score one from someone for next to nothing. I reckon they're pretty cool and it seems that they have something to do with the rally success in the late 70s? Quote
