240Z_au Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 So went to SEMA thought to share this with you while still here and fresh in my mind. I have changed my outlook on what the modified S30 should be for me. oldmates260z 1 Quote
240Z_au Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Greddy was nice, but it had too many faults for my liking in the paint job. Just a shame, because otherwise it was a nice car. OS Ginken took the cake for me. oldmates260z 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 7, 2015 Administrators Posted November 7, 2015 So when you say you have changed your mind on what a modified S30z should be, does that mean you liked the car or didn't? Rocket Bunny S30z - Looks like it's a bit rough around the edges... *Edit you posted the O.S Giken car as I was typing my reply. I prefer the O.S Giken car also, more soul. Although I have to say the cut out bonnet isn't my thing (hopefully just for the show) and the black paint on an early S30z looks odd to me. I prefer period correct colours, the wheels are ok but again not my style. Quote
KatoKid Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Both look pretty awesome. Like the CF door trims and console! dat240z 1 Quote

IF (the key word) the mods are executed with quality and synergy in mind, you can create a really unique car that still works from all angles. My red 240 is modded, but well, its kind of boring to be honest (to me). I do want more of me in the car, I like alcantara, carbon and the race feel in and out. I will be selling a lot of parts soon Quote

240Z_au Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Any news on the TC24 heads? I think I read speculation that they were going to ramp up production or something along those lines? Very vague (same as last year when they had one on display), but the guy did say, that the final price will be established when they get few orders confirmed. I cant remember now, but he quoted either 20-30 or 30-40K..Cant recall. Hammered here after 4 days. Quote
AK Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Hey thanks for sharing - the trip and the pics - both great examples got agree that the OS Ginken had the wood - the wheel combination with on the OS Ginken with standard guards could be the most perfect I have seen any idea what they where running might have to rethink my own build. As for the twin cam head god if they could crank them out for 5k DREAMING they would sell everything they could they make, been to Vegas several times great party town is understatement. Plenty of interesting Automobiles as well with out the Auto show normally. Meet my wife Vegas story for another day, thanks for the pics AWSOME! Cheers AK 240Z_au 1 Quote
locklock Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Looking at the tc24 engine.. The headers are so close to the brake cylinders. Wont it melt it? The trumpets and manifold is very short too.. Quote
240Z_au Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 Well spotted. I don't want to sound like a whinger, but the headers I though had ben rushed and are a little bit of an afterthought. I mean look at the joints. With all of the gear I saw at the show and all of the capabilities, why would you weld 2 different wall thickness's together?. As for brake lines, they will have heat shield, just not for the show .... Quote
KatoKid Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 why would you weld 2 different wall thickness's together?..... Its not wall thickness, they have a specific increase in ID they are looking for .....its called stepped headers which are popular in some circles....they can show HP gains but it depends very much on the specs of each individual engine Quote

It's something I'd like to play with in the future if I ever do an N/A or supercharged build. Stepped headers don't seem to be much benefit on a turbo application. Quote
240Z_au Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 Thanks for that. Didn't pick up on that aspect. Would love to see the many dayno runs with various set-ups to see the difference.. Quote

260DET Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 OS Z is a bit rough because race car authentic Dash and CF are out of place, a bit of imagination using period materials could produce better more harmonious results, leave the imitation CF for the stancers. gav240z 1 Quote
Roberto Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Great result, but when did rwhp actually mean fwhp? Quote

locklock Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Was wondering how many of you here would swap your matching number 240z with this os giken engine? Im so tempted! Quote

locklock Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Makes me wonder again, after swapping the engine, would the car value increased or decrease? Seen L28 fitted on 240z, value not as good as original..hmmm Quote
EJ101 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I've seen price for the head at U.S $32,000, then add the headers, induction, short motor etc etc and you might be up for $100k. Don't know how much the complete 420hp 3.2 OS Giken engine is but I imagine $100k. If I was loaded I'd get it but you'd never get your money back if that's a concern. So how do people say the name? O_S Giken or OS Giken (OS being one word)? Quote
