Administrators gav240z Posted January 9, 2015 Administrators Posted January 9, 2015 Hey Rev, If you still need seats get in contact with Ashley at Moorabbin Auto Spares. He has a couple of seats lying about, just not sure if he has enough 240z style rails. Quote

chris240 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 If you're driving it home from Canberra, don't be surprised if people ask you how much you'd sell it for along the way. Haha, when it made the huge trip from central Canberra to my place 10 mins away, I could have sold it twice ! I stepped out of my house at 6am this morning to find a man and a jack russell asleep in the front seat of a landy on my verge.. They arrived midnight last night yep this bloke is good ! I feel bad that I didnt offer him coffee. Quote

chris240 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Just to clarify Gav, the guy in the landy was Victa from umbrella towing , nice bloke. Quote
zed74 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Just to clarify Gav, the guy in the landy was Victa from umbrella towing , nice bloke. I always thought "Landy" was short for Land Rover It was a 100 series Toyota Landcruiser in the photo backing trailer in the Garage Has Toyota now taken over the title...they are more popular! Quote
chris240 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I thought a land rover was a rangie , or was it a range rover ? Discovery is a disco, landcruiser is also a cruiser, hilux is a luxy, suzuki 4wds are ferrets, .....where getting off topic here Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted January 10, 2015 Moderators Posted January 10, 2015 I have always regarded the original Land Rover and the 110 type as a "Landy". Quote
zed74 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I just which it was backing that trailer with a RED 240z into my garage! Quote
reverendzed Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Time for an update! Just moved house and moved the Zed into it's new home! Can't believe how nice it is to not only have a workshop again but also the beginnings of a spacious mancave. Got to work getting the motor running today, probably need to rekit the carbs after sitting so long, but did get it to idle more consistently. Began to remove all the factory sound deadening and found a couple of small repairs in the floors where they meet the tunnel. No big surprises yet, hopefully it will stay that way! I've put a post up about some parts I need so if you have any leads let me know. Next on the to do - weld in replacement sections in the floor, then begin on new interior! ETA to get it on the road...end of March. Cheers Rev Quote
oldmates260z Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 That's a very flash cave, looks much more like a proper workshop. I am sure it will be put to good use, cannot wait to watch the build. Quote
dat240z Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Very cool space for the beast to sleep mate. Schmick. Quote

reverendzed Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Started with some minor work today. Returned the rear tail light garnishes to a deep metallic gunmetal rather than the red they were painted. polished the rear lights and reassembled - looks way better! Quote
Riceburner Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Nice Rev! Did you use anything specific to polish the tail lights? Quote
reverendzed Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 yep, I used a Mcguiers plastX - it's a pretty good product. http://www.meguiars.com/en/automotive/products/g12310-plastx-clear-plastic-cleaner-polish/ Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 7, 2015 Administrators Posted February 7, 2015 I hate colour coded bumpers and rear light garnish on the S30z it was a very 90s mod. Much better with chrome bumpers and contrast on rear light panel. Did you paint with a compressor? I'm thinking of getting 1 with paint gear. Painting has always been a bit of black art to me but I've decided I want to learn. Just don't want to paint cars for people. Just my own stuff. Too much messy work for not enough pay I think. Quote
reverendzed Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 FINALLY!! After 10 hours of chipping away sound deadener I've struck metal! A couple of small repairs and then a full interior coat of POR15! You gotta love some of that 70's metal pressing!! Quote
