  1. be interesting to see what parts they'll offer. obviously body panels would be wanted by most, but I'd say that the tooling has long since gone unless they go to the the enormous expense of making new tooling? you never know.
  2. this one is back again. Price has dropped. Has anyone seen this one up close? Is it worth buying? http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?R=OAG-AD-14118058&Cr=5
  3. is the Legacy 240 running this year?
  4. so back to the topic. Definitely a lot of nice cars. Unfortunately Easter is an impossible time for me to get to any car events. so was there anything for sale? Zeds?
  5. a mate got this for me at a toy collectables fair at Penrith today. Now he did say there was another Matchbox car that was $55 and I couldn't quite get to the bottom of what it actually was, but I'm assuming it was a 240Z because the seller said they were super rare and collectable, just as the real thing. I said that he should have got it.
  6. don't know how you came up with that conclusion. I've never seen a 240Z or 260Z in race or rally form from the period with injection. Maybe someone somewhere may have dabbled with mechanical injection, but definitely not EFI.
  7. no it's actually the Isle of Man. i doubt that co driver was of any use almost every line is finished with "maybe"
  8. Ari at his best.
  9. Back then the car industry was protected by high import tariffs, so the Z's in Australia at least, weren't the cheap sports car they were in the U.S. But when you look back, Holdens and Fords were expensive for what they were. As Paul Keating once said, "we were paying a lot of money for cars that really weren't that good"
  10. saw this old ad on a FB page so 41 years ago, lets say average weekly wage was $150 ($7800 p.a). The Z wasn't cheap!
  11. personally I wouldn't, you'll just end up with a really heavy wheel. Can you even find anyone that does widening these days?
  12. my boss once painted a very interesting picture. you're Mrs wants you to get rid of that shitbox in the garage. A 62 Mini 850 for instance, but you don't want to get rid of it. What do you do? Place an ad............blah blah blah 62 Mini 850, $100,000 when at best you might get $5000 for it (at the time) weeks and weeks go by, no interest. Mrs says to drop the price. "Ok dear" Drop the price to $120,000 and on it goes until Mrs is defeated. could this be whats going on with the Z's?
  13. I won't ask what the final bill was, but how many hrs would go into such a body resto? it amazes me what can be done. It looks sensational.
  14. all the big dollar 240's aren't moving i.e $50k+ a correction in the market is needed!
  15. jelly beans are good. the wire wheels.........i'd ditch those. Don't suit the Z at all.
  16. well deserved win that was a bloody good Grand final match...........you couldn't ask for better.......nail biter 'till then end. just glad it went Cronulla's way
  17. problem with sanding at home is obviously time and patience, both of which I don't have. So you end up rushing and cutting corners and telling yourself "that'll do",and, if you live with a cleanliness freak, the dust and mess generated will drive her (or him) nuts, which will of course will come back on you. By the time you've finished doing it yourself you'll probably have ended up spending a thousand bucks on sand paper, strippers, chemicals, tools etc etc.
  18. true ugly car love?? just about every affordable British car of the 1970's. Run of the mill stuff. eg Austin Allegro but lets not forget America's contribution which is just as bad e,g AMC Pacer, Chevy Gremlin In England they have Hagerty's Festival of the Unexceptional, so they recognise the ills of the past.
  19. couldn't help myself. I went to Masters on Saturday as they are in the final stages of closing down. went to the tool section and the Stahlwille spanners were all but gone. There were a few left and were about 10% off, so I grabbed a few. They feel nice in the hand. Needless to say they went straight to the pool room!
  20. Gav before I joined the forum, I looked at a 240Z that was advertised on Gumtree and was located in Minchinbury. My knowledge of Zeds compared to now was fairly basic. I think it was a 71. It was completely stripped, had a hole in the roof where a sunroof used to be and if I remember correctly, looked to be "fairly" rust free. It was red, but the original colour was burnt orange??? He was asking $20000. He said he had all the parts, but I wasn't convinced. He was moving to Qld for work and wanted it gone. I offered him $10k which of course he didn't accept. Does this ring any bells?
  21. Gav what is the TAFE course you're doing?
  22. I watched Pumping Iron. A 1975 doco about Arnie in his final year competing professionally as a body builder and his last Mr Universe title. Arnie really should have started in comedy back then because some of the things he says are just gold. But........ he was an A grade dick. I recommend watching it. It'll give you an insight into his true character. Basically there's nothing he wouldn't do to win. Explains why he's worth $300M
  23. don't get sucked in by cheap quotes. if you're only paying an extra couple of hundred bucks a year to go with Shannons, I'd go with Shannons. There are so many new insurance companies popping up that I personally, get a bit suspicious. They are probably all good until you have to make a claim and the hope for the best. The bigger insurers like NRMA are changing their policies and hopefully prices because they are losing market share. Still, I don't think they've changed enough to make it viable to insure a Z through them
  24. and George as you're no stranger to rust, you'll feel right at home with the Valiants.
  25. what TAFE class/course are you doing?
