Damn... Sounds good. If I wasn't heading out of state next weekend, I'd be down in a heart beat to have a look. Too much to do at home

Home Built Z 'full Video Build'
RAP260 replied to HomeBuiltByJeff's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
Well said @PeterAllen Yea, I enjoy watching your videos @HomeBuiltByJeff Anyone who knows what they're doing could do this in their sleep. It takes real commitment to tackle tasks your not experienced with. Kudos to you @HomeBuiltByJeff, and everyone else, who does this. Posts like these keep me moving forward, even if very slowly. I actually have a car I can drive. But I'm probably still 11 years, 3 months and 13 days from actually having the skills to "start" getting it to a stage I'm happy with.... Keep up the good work Cheers, Rob -
Cheers @peter t, Going to have to join.
-
Hey @peter t, Who was that organised through?. Looked like a good get together. Cheers, Rob

Yea I'll second that opinion. I had a 350z, fantastic cars. Highly recommended, you'll love it . Something you will need to consider is the cost of the insurance. I'm 46 years old with a perfect driving record, 6 years ago I was paying over 1k for the 350z. Also, this was an alright forum.... http://www.zclub.com.au Cheers, Rob

Late hello from a Sydney 260Z 2+2 Owner
RAP260 replied to Maddie260's topic in Introductions and Forum Etiquette
Welcome Maddie Good to see another 2+2 getting some love. Rob -
Yea, absolutely. I've run 40mm webers, then a 4 barrel and now SU's. On an L26. The webers had awesome bottom end torque, but would literally run out of breath above 5000rpm.Mine were 152s with the default choke, 32mm??. Maybe a bigger choke would have helped. But it struggled to get to 50kmh in first. By comparison the SU's breeze it in. Rob

Great stuff Paul . Awesome seeing someone who's not afraid to "have a go". As Jeff said, we learn nothing if we're not willing to make mistakes. What sort of welder are you using? I've been practicing with a gasless Mig welder I bought. But it's not as easy as it looks, especially working with thin sheet metal. Practice makes perfect they say, well hopefully.. Lol Rob

Racing?... Targa? Regardless of the official racing scene, you guys have the best roads in the country.. Full Stop. I was there at Christmas, and I'm heading back in September. Never had so much fun driving on public roads. Especially the west coast, and I was only in a Subaru Forester. Can only imagine how much fun a Zed would be Rob

Yea, but registration...... Its who you know... Not what you know ( the condition of your car to be)... Lol Absolutely. If you have the spare time @JDM-TOY, I'd love to know the real condition of this car. Cheers, Rob -

RAP260 replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Ok, UK, didn't think of that. Surely UK + Canada = lots of rust. Yea, a bit suss on this one. Seller could simply be trying to avoid anyone seeing how bad it is. -

240z Auction So.. I can't message this person unless I have the winning bid.... What if I want to look at it? Also.. "originally from Canada".. Well no, maybe originally from Japan. As the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Maybe I'm just being pedantic. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F202376227852 -

RAP260 replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
And.... The listings gone. Shame really, a 2 seater with two extra seats would have been handy.. I should have contacted them and ask if it had the appropriate qld mod plate.. Seriously, that had to be the sloppiest attempt at a scam I've seen in a while... Laughable. -

Yea, saw that. Sheeesh..... got to be quick. -
Yea, I'm starting to wonder if the young fella wasn't spinning me a bit of a yarn, regarding the effort he'd put in. Window washers, now the fuel tank. Hopefully not too many more surprises.
-
Yea Richard, from Toowoomba. Well, rebuilt there I should say.
-
Yea, a real shame nobody has produced the equivalent of a programming Superbible for this. That would be awesome Thanks @Enzo, that book looks great, and gets excellent reviews. Will be ordering it shortly. Cheers, Rob

Absolutely Don't get me wrong. I don't pretend that I'll be able to read some book and understand 30+ years of actual experience. I probably don't have that much time left Just trying to make sure I'm heading in the right direction. So when it comes time to involve a professional, I've actually headed in the right direction I just want to do as much, as I can, within my limited experience. Chinese proverb : "He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool forever." Cheers, Rob

Hey Kato, I understand what you're say. But I'm looking to learn more about the fundamentals , if that makes sense. If I do this I'll be doing it from scratch, as it were. DIY megasquirt for example . I've got a good grounding in electronics and computer programming. So this is an area I'm comfortable with. Plus, having installed and tuned three different carburetor systems on my car, I'm comfortable with my engine. And I know how to make her purr.... Lol I'm interested in pulse widths and timing, pressures, sizing ect. How do these elements all interact? Cheers, Rob
-
Howdy all, Just asking this on the off chance that someone has a particular recommendation. Looking for something that's not necessarily just an introduction, as I understand the basic principle, but a book that also goes into the nitty gritty as is was Currently researching a lot of different book options, just interested in others opinions. And yea.... I know there's a lot of info on the Internet... But they let anyone post information on the Internet....lol And don't even get me started on forum threads that start with a question, where the OP couldn't be bothered posting the outcome.... Grrrrrrr. Cheers, Rob

Hey @Groundhog I replaced the slave cylinder in my 77 about a month ago. It didn't have a spring. But googling this I see lots of references to it. Hopefully someone who knows something about these things could chime in?? Cheers, Rob
