^^^ Hopefully you have full comprehensive insurance, if not, nothing you can do, other insurance company will low ball you, and your stuck with their offer. about 10 years ago someone Hit me and wrote off my car, i had a S13 Silvia K's, 2.0L turbo manual, top of the range model, it was worth 12k. I only had 3rd party, so my payout was from the other insurance company, they went off redbook value, said the car was only worth 6k, and that was my payout. Back then, 6k could only buy you a non turbo, automatic model. I was out of pocket half the value of the car, and i couldn't buy another one with the money i got. I sent the insurance company every single advertisement in the trading post and on the internet, about 50 ad's total, showing that turbo manual models started from 10k, they didn't budge i was stuck with my payout. The only thing they offered, was that i didn't have to buy back my wreck, which would have only been $300 anyway. Its one of those situations where you get shafted and there is nothing you can do. Hopefully it wasn't a dato you were in, good luck. Rudolf.

^^^ To be honest, i have no idea yet. It is an issue which i will need to deal with, it will be shame to cut up the nice headers, i most likely will just re split it up. Have no idea what it will do for performance, perhaps someone else might have some better insight. Rudolf. -

UPDATE 8/10/13: New autometer gauges. So Ive been waiting a while for bits and pieces to trickle in from overseas, and getting a few things made, there wasn't much i could really do in the engine bay, so i turned my attention to the cabin. Now a while back Locky i think, mentioned how my aftermarket clock didn't sit right up the top, and it looked out of place, which i agree, it did. So i decided to pull my finger out and make a new cluster for the radio slot, as i didn't have one and there was a gaping hole there. It helped that my auto meter volt gauge rocked up at my door, so there was no excuses. paint the panel, fit everything up, and hey presto, view from front and back with all switches rewired: and finished and working: -

NEW ZED AHEAD -caution my ramblings may not make sense-

If you consider a Stag, it has to be the 260RS model, for GTR running gear and RB26. What about a JZX100? or maybe abit too old. Rudolf. -
Unfortunately its not an accusation, i have hard proof of shenanigans, and you know what, since your a skeptic, im going to PM you and make you a believer.... I just wrote a 7 paragraph rant on it, including my experiences and outcomes but i deleted it. Don't want to get into it on a public forum, lets leave it at I don't like liars and two faced people, someone who is nice to your face as they are trying to sell you a cubic zirconia as a diamond. It really hits a nerv with me. One thing ill say however about that 240z at Edward Lee's, Ive seen it in the flesh, and it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. It is a clean example, hence the price. Rudolf.

At the end of the day, yes he can advertise it for as much as he wants, who cares? if someone pays 35k for it then good luck to Phil. Perhaps when they do a oil change and find the oil filter had 75000km's more written on it than the odometer shows, they can go back and try and get a free set of rims or a few grand back. The question really should be who still buys cars from Import dealerships nowdays? especially Edward Lee's. As for how id feel buying a car for 15k and finding out it was purchased for 5k, I payed 15k because i thought it was worth that much, and i was willing to pay that much for it. If someone got a awesome price through a deceased estate, or whatever the case may be, all the power to them, You should not be upset when someone gets a good deal out of pure luck, the right place at the right time.

Hey great to hear about the manual conversion, no body wants to drive a slush box! I'm pretty sure i saw your car down there at Stewart Wilkins maybe last week? when i picked up my headers from him. We will have to go for a cruise up the mountains, or up Old Pacific highway to Gosford one weekend, the 2 blue buses! I have to get mine back together first! Rudolf.

The wiring on my car was hideous, nothing worked when i bought it, i too had major issues with lights and stop lamps etc. I was scratching my head especially when id have 12v at the main harness plug for rear light assembly, but no power at the socket. Turns out all my light globe sockets were corroded, so bad that the pressed in stud at the back for the earth had corrosion between the washer and the socket. looked fine with a visual inspection, peel back the washer and it was rubbish. I ended up having to cut the wires before the light globe holders, buy new ones and solder them all in. With my car, 90% of my electrical woes were bad and corroded earths, but none were broken wires, it was all sneaky corrosion not visible on first inspection. Contact cleaner wont do much to fix the connections, you really have to grab a dremel with a wire wheel brush attachment, strip every connection, and buff all the terminals/posts/earths. I also had to replace all my 6 and 8 pin harness connections, crimp in new terminals, solder them in then re assemble. Rudolf.

common mate Sydney Isn't that far a trek for you! Don't you think it would be worth the drive up? Id love to represent, but id bring great shame and embarrass the family, id have to commit a ritual seppuku to regain my honor. In other words, my car isn't good enough to be on tv Rudolf. -

One of those original Silvia's sold through Shannon's auctions a few years back, perhaps 10 years? The listing was put up on the Silvia forums, it sold for 11k, was fully restored, looked mint. Rudolf.

I have a workmate who just finished a 4 year build on a stroked VL 5L, he keeps telling me that ill end up doing things twice, to bite the bullet and strip her down now and rebuild from scratch, trust me i agree with him, i just enjoy driving this darn car too much, i want to keep her running until something major breaks, then ill tear her down... im thinking engine, because im giving her hell, and i chew threw 1L of oil every 400km's that and it leaks oil from the head gasket. Anyway, update time! UPDATE 17.7.13: a new motor! I bought a new... well... not really... anyway, bought a L28 for the nugget. The old bloke was so nice, he let me keep his custom engine stand, which was a home made bird poo welded shopping trolley! I'm honestly surprised it didn't snap off the stand and fall off the back of the box trailer on the way home. Engine is a N42 head and N42 block, so meh, standard standard.... Rudolf -

your right, and i had the same issue, but this is not a Reinhard system, its a Fujitsubo system. And they do sell the rear only section. As far as im aware, they are the only other ones to make a exhaust like this type. I only wanted the rear section too. Problem i have, is that the Bus is longer than a 2 seater, so it would not fit anyway if i got the full system. Not cheap, it was over $700 to get it to my door, but hey, its the exhaust i wanted.... full system would have been $1300 if i recall. Then id still have to get it modified to fit my car, so more money there. Rudolf. -

I think the wing cost $450? around that, yes its a topstage reproduction of the 432 wing. Dont really want to sell it, but not looking forward to hacking it up either. UPDATE 8/7/13 - Nardi, Autometer and Fujitsubo? Wow ive blown so much money on this thing in the last few weeks.... where to start. I Bought Gareth's old carb set up, and plan to have a new manifold custom made by a engineering shop we use though work, of course, book it to something work related. Also fixed my clock, by cheating and buying and fitting a Autometer clock. Not happy with where it is, i will eventually remove the Din pocket where the radio should go, and put the clock and 1 more gauge that size there, probably battery volts, then up top have fuel, oil and temp. My Nardi Torino FINALLY arrived, after 3 months wait as it had to be made! I removed my radiator to send off for repairs, the small crack in the end tank ended up being a whole new radiator core. That led to me replacing all coolant lines, heater lines, fuel lines and vacuum lines in the engine bay. Bought a Choke Lever handle New shift knob with JDM awesomeness. Big thanks to Jesse Streeter for hooking me up with my Fujitubo Exhaust..... Haha 40 year old New old stock, 1 week express from Japan! Wasnt cheap! I also drove down to Stewart Wilkins Motorsport and ordered a set of headers, I initially wanted the 6-1 that everyone one here likes, but he convinced me to get their newly developed 6-2-1 set up which is apparently nearly as good top end with a more meaty midrange. should be done next weeek And since my car chews through 1L of oil per 400km's due to the valve steam seals being rubbish and having glazed bores, i decided to buy a second hand L28 to rebuild.... Im broke, Wife not Happy! -
Sure you can! its all in the tune! My S15 punches out 250kw at the wheels, and i get over 500km's to a tank of fuel. When it was bone stock as a rock i would struggle to get 450km's. And thats running Nismo 740cc injectors now. Hrmmm i guess your right, no reason why a JZX cant be good on fuel too with the right tune, Im only going off what a friend told me about his, and i cant recall if he had a ECU on it. As for your question juzo, Ive had my S15 for 5 years, and ive had 3 S13 silvia's before that! My Datsun is my first non S chassis car, and i love it! Rudolf.
-
Hey mate welcome! project is looking great so far. I like you already, i also have a pewter S15 as a daily driver! And funny enough, im starting to realize that it isn't the best family car too! I also considered a JZX100, cant beat the old 2JZ camry! But i hear they are pretty thirsty on fuel, which turned me off them. Rudolf.

UPDATE 7.6.13: ITS ALL ABOUT BLACK AND CARBON FIBRE! So i had a workmate recently finish his 5.0L VL build, 4 years in the making, and he wanted to head down to the local hot rod show on Saturday night for its maiden voyage, so i had quite abit to try and get done to make my car presentable for the show also so i didn't make him look bad parked next to him! I painted the rear light assembly black, and removed all the old window tint which made the car look much better. while driving home from the car show i had a mad fuel smell in the cabin, outside, everywhere. Upon getting home i saw that both my fuel lines to the fuel rail were leaking like a sieve. So the next day i fixed the fuel lines and added a fire extinguisher just to be safe. -
yes thank you gents, i was leaning towards option 2 also, just seems like you would not even need the cut away for the lock. and i agree about the need to either 1: paint it body colour or 2: have it sticking higher slightly to break up the spoiler from the light panel. ahh yes a sore sight for the eyes, don't worry, im trying to get a new exhaust from japan at the moment. Rudolf.

I received my Top stage 432 replica wing today in the mail, i know its molded for a 2 seater and not a bus, and i am aware either way i go, ill need to modify it to fit. Now i would like some opinions on which way to mount it, im unsure what will look better. Its either going to be butted up against the hatch lock like normal, where the back rests just before the edge of the hatch. Or the back is going to overhang the hatch and pop-rivited across the back aka "rocket bunny S13" or "Nascar" look. It seems it will fit better and would be slightly less effort if i did it the second way, but here are some photo's and some opinions please! Normal: as you can see it will need quite abit of trimming to make it fit nicely. Now if i overhang the bottom edge it looks like its a better fit, but the lock cutaway is no where near where it should be. So i ask for your opinions on which way would you all mount it? Rudolf.

Wow, imagine trying to stare at the engine bay on a sunny day! It would be like staring into the sun! Awesome detailed photo's! Im trying to figure out how to do my fuel rail at the moment, and this gives me some ideas!

hey buddy im interested in the rear hatch chrome trim, do you know if it will fit the rear hatch of a 260z 2+2? Thanks, Rudolf.
