  1. another two 2+2's for sale, once again both from opposite ends of the spectrum: The bad: $3000, pretty sad looking turbo L series with a pretty sad looking body and a very desirable rag top sunroof. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-260Z-1975/SSE-AD-3275870/?Cr=9 The good: $22 500, looks the goods, but id want to see full documented restoration on a rotisserie for that kind of coin http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-260Z-1975/SSE-AD-3269743/?Cr=24 Rudolf.
  2. Oh Phil.... I was going to bite my tongue... as i have in the past..... but HEEERRRREEE WE GOOOOO!! SO, many moons ago, my friend bought a car from your dealership, a S15 Silvia, maybe 8 years ago, with 57 000km's on the clock for $25 000. Even back then it was a relatively low price for a S15 at your shop so she jumped on it. Now there used to be another website id troll religiously, called prestige motorsport. They were a online import dealership, showing cars for sale In japan. Now here is the best part, they had a sold section, showing what they had recently sold, where it went and how much it sold for including vehicle details. Funny when i saw HER car in the sold section, but wait, it had 50 thousand more KM's on it? Now on YOUR WEBSITE Phil, you had the car listed with photo's with 50K less on the clock. Then when i did a service on it, the old oil filter had 95k km's written on it, less than what is stated when the car was sold in japan, ALOT more than what was on the clock in australia. Lucky i was smart enough to screen shot the website before you took the ad down, note the stickers on airbox snorkle, the HKS circle of life earth wire kit and pod filter.... wow... ITS THE SAME CAR Your utter scum, go away, surly we can ban his IP address.... Rudolf.
  3. ^^^ I would pay to see him get punched in the nose, better still, i would love to see him to get shut down and never allowed to open another business again. On a lighter note: 71 240z no 596 $26 000 http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-240Z-1971/SSE-AD-3245618/?Cr=4
  4. ^^^^ that burgundy one sold already it seems, that didn't take long, any details on it and how much it was? Silver one looks like a bargain, too bad its in the middle of no where. God i have so much on i cant even be bothered looking at another car! Rudolf.
  5. yeah i have always in the past met up with the person at a local service station or McDonalds as a extra safety measure. You cant be too careful with these things. I also usually snap a pic of their license on my phone. Story from a friend of a friend about 8 years back. Kid was selling his Honda Integra, guy comes to look. goes for a test drive in it (with the owner of course). The guy drives around the block where his friends are waiting, they pull the owner out of the car, smash him in the face with a baseball bat, knocking out most of his teeth, and steal the car leaving him on the curb. They caught one of them, and he ratted out his mates to avoid any serious charges, i cant remember what the outcome of that one was, but i recall i was angry because they had no jail time. It made it on the news then too. Great world we live in right? Rudolf.
  6. yeah i hear you Scoota! you can see the mad divot that will need to be bogged up. Locky made me the panels, and they were made big enough to reach the top line, i got scared of cutting the panel out that high because id need to cut out the edge into the door jamb. I wasn't confident on being able to re make that edge and lip and have a consistant door gap, so i left the original metal there. If i were to do it again, id give it a go how it really should be done! Maybe on my 240z which will come after the wedding, the double garage and when this heap is finished ;D Rudolf.
  7. Don't forget im getting married in 4 months, so there is ALOT of wedding crap to try and plan too! Trust me, once all this crap is over, The work on the dato will be full steam ahead, im sick of it, just want it in paint already! Yeah, i just winged it, pretty happy with how it came out, i want to carry on a similar pattern on the rail for the stairs too. Rudolf.
  8. UPDATE: 8.2.15- More Rust fixed, more to come! So quite alot has happened in the last 3 months, and really not much zed stuff.... firstly, continuing with the house extension, i spent a majority of time sanding.... sanding walls and filler.... I also took on a new project of making a new hand rail for the back landing... its a work in progress, i still need to add more support to the rail on the stairs: but progress on the zed carried on.... firstly i had some rust in the top of the drivers quater window, and to be honest it wasn't that bad, just surface and some pitting, i honestly could have just spot welded the holes and ground it back, but i decided to disturb the sleeping dog as they say.... and well a big headache later, i had melted away lead filler, next had a blowtorch burning it all out, but i got it fixed in the end: After that headache, the next project was to attack the passenger side dog leg, a repeat process of the drivers side: So i thought that was the major rust done, but then i uncovered some behind the rear wheel arch at the bottom part of the quater, most of it is in the inner skin, so thats the next project.... Rudolf.
  9. sounds like your car is going to have all the best bits on it, looking forward to the buildup. Just out of curiosity, those photo's look familiar, is you car the one that was for sale in seven hills or Toongabbie maybe 5-6 months ago? the guy wanted under $1000 if i recall? Rudolf.
  10. Ok Guys, im getting married on Saturday May 2nd, and id love if possible to have a convoy of zeds escorting me to the church, and if you guys are up for it, some photo shoots afterwards. I am willing to give fuel money, or even maybe some cash money for anyone willing to help me out, Name your price and i'll see if i can accomodate. Church is in Mona Vale, and church ceremony is at 12:30, so potentially would be a great location for a zed meet/cruise for you guys anyway, afterwards you could cruise to palm beach for a BBQ? The reception is in Akuna Bay in Terry hills, so a 10-15min drive from the church through the national park, its a MAAADD driving road, note, maybe a $11 fee to enter national park is needed which i'd pay for anyone willing to help out. We are hopefully going to have photos at West Head Lookout, overlooking pittwater and palm beach, which is maybe 15 minutes out of the way. If you can take a groomsman, great, if not, no big deal. We would meet up at checkers resort in mona vale, a 5 minute drive from the church, and the convoy would go from there to the church.... probably the most important part... If you are keen let me know in here or by PM Cheers Guys Rudolf.
  11. Nice Looking Car! sounds like you need to clear out some clutter from your shed and wrap your zed in bubble wrap! shame stuff keeps falling on it! 2JZ would be awesome in your car, if you need some more inspiration, check out this 280z in america running a 2J.... watch the lines it leaves on the pavement when they show it from the chase car..... its nuts! Rudolf.
  12. yes Google and contact Jesse Streeter, he is your best bet for getting parts out of Japan cheap. expect to be paying 3-500 just for postage though. Rudolf
  13. i don't know, i started watching it and posted it on the fly before realizing it was only half an episode! trying to find a full episode of it now..... If you pay closer attention..... they weld the passenger side fender to the radiator support..... i wish i was joking.... there was rust in the inner nose panel where the bonnet bolts to, so they cut it out, then extended off the top lip of the fender, welded a massive square onto the bottom of it. Then welded a massive square onto the radiator support to patch rust there, then welded them both together...... LOL good luck taking off your fender! I have a few pommy mates at work and... "Bunch of Twats" comes to mind..... Rudolf.
  14. Ok.......this is one of those "reality" car shows, find a bomb, do a full nut and bolt "professional" restoration in 1 week! and.... profit? Before you write the show off, they do a 280zx which turns into a 260z 2+2 which apparently is a "classic drifter in japan"....... its horrible, my eyes, the horror...but like a car wreck you cant turn away! Ahem..... these are your people Alan..... Rudolf.........
  15. Great to catch up with everyone again, and to meet some new people too! Eager for the next meet! Thanks for letting me drive the zed Mike, its just the kick in the pants i needed to get back into the garage. Rudolf.
  16. at least someone is thinking..... i have my Esky in the car, all washed up, bout to go Coles now and get some plastic cutlery, and ill grab some ice on the way in too for the Esky. See you all soon! Rudolf.
  17. Haha pressure is on Mike! lets see Georges zed... nope... Mine... nope Andy's zed? unsure? i know you were battling electrical gremlins and trying to get her drivable.... Atleast we will have 1 there.... right? right? And yep 11 - 11:30 sounds good to me! Rudolf.
  18. It does have rust, how much i couldn't tell you but i did see bubbling in the doglegs, bottom of fenders and even top of fenders.
  19. so do we have a definitive time yet? I can do cutlery i guess? paper plates, garbage bag, plastic knifes and forks and cups? i can also bring a big esky if needed and perhaps ice? what are our numbers so far? Ill be there with the wife.... Rudolf.
  20. Issac the "woodchippa" Yellow one is sold, blue one still for sale last time i visited him, i bought my zed from him 1 year ago, and a few others on here have bought their cars from him too. Story goes he took out his super 20 years ago, went around bought up 50 cars or so, and is slowly selling them off... my car paid for part of his wedding!
  21. Welcome to the mad house! As others have said, for that price a car can be had in decent condition, and like mentioned, every now and then a bargain pops up, but you need to call as soon as you see the ad, usually cars like that only last a day, if that, before they are scooped up. I remember a car being advertised on here, someone linked it from carsales and within 45 minutes of the owner posting the ad, the car was sold sight unseen from an interstate buyer. If you fancy importing one, speak to Yo-Yo on here, as he recently imported a zed, i think total cost of his including compliance and rego was around 24k landed, Ive seen his car in person and its in great condition. Ledge also recently imported a Hako, so you can go down that route too. Rudolf.
  22. he will blame it on an apprentice.......
  23. Honestly at the very least id be leading them on to the car being stolen, in no way shape of form should you take the car back to that workshop, go with the RX7 to pick up the keys and tell them to f**k off. If they don't want to give you your keys, just go home... what will they do? keep the car from you for not paying? oh wait, that's right, it was stolen! The money you save from not paying the workshop a cent, take to get your locks re barreled. It cost me $60 i believe to get all 4 locks on my zed re keyed to the same key. The bloke i use for pink/blue slips, and jobs i really cnbf'd with, keeps all his cars in his workshop. The complex is secured by a locked gate (an industrial park estate) and there is plenty of parking behind the security gate, but even so, the cars are all taken inside the warehouse building over night, that includes mum and dads camry too. Even the place that blue slipped my Zed when i bought it, i checked up on it a few times before i paid the old owner, and the workshop was pushing all the old shells and rusted parts cars inside regardless. A friend has a VL Callis, its a summernats show quality car, v8 the whole 9 yards, worth probably 70k or so. He had his car at a workshop, and got a phone call in the middle of the day from said workshop. Some seedy looking people had been driving back and forth past the workshop scoping out my mates VL, pointing to it, and talking and making a phone call, could have been something, could have been nothing, either way the workshop owner rang my mate and told him to take the car home that night and to bring it back in a week because he had a bad feeling about them. He knew that insurance would cover the car, but could never replace the 7 years and late nights my mate spent building it. What you experienced was in no way acceptable, and i wouldn't pay a cent to them. Rudolf.
  24. i used dry ice on mine. you can get it from any BOC gas, it isn't cheap, about $9 per kg. i just took a big esky with me and they filled it up. (BOC have dry ice pellets) Don't use your bare hands, you will get a chemical burn, i just used old leather gardening gloves and i was fine, mind you they were riddled with holes, my fingers were poking out through the ends, but i didn't hurt myself. you just get a scoop, lay it over the area, wait about 2-5 minutes, you will hear it cracking and freezing the sound deadening. then i used a chisel and hammer and chipped it all away. The transmission tunnel was a real pain of an area as it was hard to get the ice to sit there without sliding off. i ended up taping down some clear sheeting just bellow the area i wanted to work on, and tipped the ice into it to catch it and hold it against the trans tunnel. seemed to work. Pro tip, after the 5 minutes or so, scoop up the ice pellets back into your esky before you attack the panel, it isnt cheap! still a real pain to do, it took me all day. Rudolf.
  25. Its great to see another zed in Sydney, seems we are growing more and more every week! At the last meet up there were no 2+2's, lately there have been a few new members buying them up around here. It will be good to have a few on the next cruise! Where did you happen to find that gem, she looks in good condition. Rudolf.
