  3. What a great topic. I bought my first zed in 83. And have trophies from NDSOC going back to 83. My next zed was 1988 that I raced successfully as a V8 till 1996. Then sold it to my brother Craig as I wanted to go Marque Sports Racing. So I bought a nice zed to turn into a race car, but I discovered it was way to good and sold it for a good profit and found a more suitable 240z which I still race to day. I have bought 3 other Zeds ,only one of which I decided to do up as a project car. the Blue 240z. This was a three year rotisserie build, and been finished for three years and never had Rego on it ,or been driven yet, only around the back yard. Click on Image for bigger photo.

As dat2kman says ,we will be making up the numbers and the big boys will clean up, Having said that it would be a good event to attend. I will keep an eye on it and if it is any good they will be back next year. PS hope its not wet.
  7. Beautifully done mate. You have put a lot of detail in. Love the color and the body improvements make it special. All your research has paid of. Bring it down to the all Jap car show at Dandenong show grounds on the 26 th Feb. The NDSOC will be there with club display. Cheers Gordon.
  8. Hi guys. The way I read it is pre 86, so if it is pre 86 Efi stuff and engine it is ok. But any motor after 86 is modern. They are not worried about brakes suspension etc. the main objective was that the gap between old and new was getting way to big. Remember this is just the msca in there wisdom to come up with this. I for one see it as a step in the right direction. Might bring a few more cars out of the garage. Cheers Gordon.
  9. Hi guys, I was racing out at Calder a few years ago, a hot summers day. So I took a set of old 520 bridgestones as spare tires. Dave and I were going at it doing 1.08s all day. He was using the Bridgestone 540s and I was using the 550s, to soft for a hot day. Dave was about a tenth quicker than me and I was really struggling with grip. So I said Dave I gotta try something, so I put the 9 year old520s on and was consistently 4ths faster. The older harder rubber had better grip than the to soft 550 s. they are now 12 years old and on my blue zed. And I won my class. Dave could not believe it! My best time was a 1.07.2. Dave got down to a 1.07.6. Cheers.
  10. Hi Guys ,my son Scott put a video together of the xmas bbq, here is the link. Cheers.
  11. OK guys this is it, get on board. Craig and I are the only two people to go on every tassie trip, from memory five trips. Every one of them bloody fantastic. It's not only the driving, but the mateship you form with the other guys, and the chitchat on the CB radio. The tours we do, and some of the remote places we visit. Also some of the great pubs we stop at to have lunch or dinner. Like Craig has said, people have come up to us and said it's be the best holiday they have ever had. That's why I keep coming back for more. So if you want to no more contact Craig and get on Board the Tassie Boat.
  12. Alan, your car still looks great, I'm sure the guys on the forum will be able to help you out with the suspention stuff. I think we had about 25 or 26 zeds as 3 or 4 left early. Cheers Gordon.
  13. Hi Guys, I would like to thank every one that came to the bbq on Saturday. What a great way to catch up with every one before Xmas. A great group of guys and girls, and it's a pleasure for Sharon and I to have you guys up here. At the end of the day we ended up in the barn watching the end of the V 8s race . Fantastic finish. Scott, so funny. We watched your wife get into the drivers seat and 5 Min's later you drove down the drive way, we all scratched our heads and thought it strange that you swaped. Now it all makes sense. lol.

  15. Well done Ash, Look forward to seeing them. If we have any more rain up here you might have to bring some boat anchors so the cars don't slide down the hill, lol! Weather is looking good, lucky it wasn't last Saturday. See you all soon, don't forget to bring a scaletrix car. Cheers Gordon.
  16. Johnboy it's your car on the list, just get some one else to bring it in to defend your trophie from last year.
  17. Good stuff guys, keep those zeds rolling in. With the weather the way it is things are very green at the moment. Got my ass on the lawn mower while I type this email. LOL. Hope the weather is good. But have lots of under cover space so will be on rain hail or shine. Might have to hang out in the scalextic shed. See you guys soon Gordon.
  18. Good stuff Ash, look forward to seeing them. Thanks Lurch. Regards Gordon.
  19. Hi Guys, Not long to go now. If you know of any one with a zed please offer them an open invitation to come along to the BBQ. The more the better. Hey Lurch do you think it is time to put this event in the up and coming events page, thanks mate. Cheers Gordon.
  20. Hey Simon, can you put me down for a set. Thanks Gordon.
  21. hi Gareth. this is the same type of brace bar my brother has in his v8 zed. Cheers Gordon.

  23. Hi Guys, with less than 4 weeks to go, its time to bring your zed along to the bbq and put some names to faces. Its a great opportunity to meet all the guys and show your car off to fellow club members. There will be trophies for some of the best presented cars. The scaletric track is set up in the shed, so if you have a car please bring it along. If you are bringing the family along the are lots of things to do for the kids. Sharon seems to be adding to the farm with sheep, alpackers, goats and one rabbit. Cubby house , trampoline, billy cart and swings and slide. So make the effort to come this year, and if you know some one with a zed by all means ask them along. Look forward to seeing you all. Regards Gordon.
