Hi guys, I'm just about over trying to tune my L28 triple 45 Weber's. On the dyno idle is OK , progression is lean and top end is OK. But on the road it is all ways fouling plugs. If we change emulsion tubes to get the mid range good ,the top end is to rich, just going around in circles. What ever we do can't get a good power curve. But at the end of the day it still fouls plugs and then its undriveable. The cam has 480 thou lift and the extractors are 32" tuned length primerys 1' and 5/8 diam. The Weber's had 42mm ventures and tryed 38mm but no change. it's got me to the point of exploring the options of going to fuel injection, how much would it cost to set up fuel injection, and would it be worth changing over ? Cheers Gordon.

Bad luck to you Simon. Hopefully you can get your new engine finished and get back out there. What sort of lap times did the three of the zed guys get. I heard on the grape vine Mark got a lot of Arazona zed stuff fitted to his nice green zed.

Some nice cars up there guys, how is the weather looking for the rest of the easter brake.

Locky, you are the man for the Job . Good luck with it. -
Bring it on, only 10 months to go.

I would be doing a spark plug read. See whats happening in side ,are the plugs all the same color, rich, lean, black brown white oily sooty, clean them and run for a short time and have another look. You should be able to see witch one's are working, It should tell you something. Good luck.

Hi Lurch, I plan on doing the Saturday only, I have a few mate's that want me to take them for a spin in the GTR. Cheers.

Good news , today I received the third Gasket and it was 89mm round, great news. Apparently they scan a gasket and computer cut it . But if any of you guys have any cheap head gaskets in the shed you might find they are egg shaped, and that is where they went wrong. Cheers .
-
Hi Guys, I think all is good now, they are making a third gasket, so my fingers are crossed.
-
hi guys. Good news I just got this email back from them , so I will follow this up. And thanks Peter Mac but I will see how I go with this next one.. Gordon, I apologize for the delay in responding but we are extremely busy at the moment with the beginning of race season starting up. All the top drag racing teams are stocking their inventory and this is the busiest time of the year for us. We can make any gasket modifications you require. The gaskets that were provided to you were based on a sample that was given to us by Flatlander a couple years ago. Most of the custom gaskets we provide come from samples. If the gaskets you received are oval shaped, that is because the sample we received was oval shaped. We can make any gasket that you request. If can tell me what changes you want, we can modify the program. Regards, Rick Weaver

I thought about going down that track, but I am hoping after my last email they might get back to me. They have not asked for any thing to be sent back ,photos etc.

Hi Guys. There is no way it has streched. It was packed realy good, bubbel rapped and hard cardbourd not bent at all. The way I see it is they are computer cut and maybe the standard bore is 86, so the guy programs in 89mm and it only goes to one side . Width not lengh. How else could you stuff it up. And going buy the last email thats it. They are not doing any more for me. What do you think I should do ?

Hi Guys, Have a read of this email, it's been going on since October. Hussey from the USA can not make me a head gasket with round holes in it. Go down to the bottom, and read from the bottom up. __________________________ Sent: Thursday, 10 March 2011 9:26 PM To: 'Tanya' Cc: 'rweaver@husseycopper.com' Subject: RE: Nissan L28 headgasket. Well this is not good enough. I have two copper Gaskets that are oval shaped. 89mm to 86mm so I would say they do have a problem. I have the proof sitting in the shed. So Hussey do have a problem. They can’t deny it , because they have tried twice it should be right. Well yer it should be ,but it’s not !!! I bet you no one measured the Gasket because it is wrong end of story. And the people at Hussey are very unprofessional to say the least. And after two emails they did not respond. ________________________________________ From: Tanya [mailto:tanya@flatlanderracing.com] Sent: Thursday, 10 March 2011 3:27 AM To: 'Sharon Subject: RE: Nissan L28 headgasket. Hi Gordon, I am sorry to say but Hussey said they have made this gasket so many times before and with no problems. Since they have made your gasket twice and really look into the gasket and all, they are not making another one for you. If there is anything else please feel free to contact us. Hi Gordon, Thank you for contacting Flatlander Racing/IPP. When you originally sent this email to me, I forward it over to Phil in our sales/tech department. He spoke to Rick Weaver at Hussey about this matter and he is waiting to hear back from Rick about this. Phil said for me to give you Rick’s email and you can email him directly about when or what they are doing about your incorrect gasket that was made wrong twice. Here is Rick Weaver’s email address. rweaver@husseycopper.com If there is anything else, please feel free to contact us. Hi Tanya. I received the head gasket today. Well all I can say is they have done it again. EGG shaped bores 89mm x86mm. They must not have any quality control, This is a Joke. I’m sorry but my engine has been ready to put together since before Christmas, but is at a standstill, No Gasket, my first race is in two weeks and I’m not happy with what’s happened, How hard is it to measure the gasket. Please with the next gasket it must be 89mm round. What is Hussey doing ? Hi Guys, had a good day at Sandown, great to catch up with all the guys and Jane. I raced on Kumo tyres for the first time and must say for half the price of the Bridgestone 550es and Toyo 888s I was only about 1.5seconds of were I would have been. Had fun in the 2nd run when we started in the wet and then had a dry line.

If the rust thing is going to be a major problem. Maybe it would be a good idea to get it fixed properly first, befor you go for a rwc. If you take a car for a rwc and it has traces of rust you are asking for trouble.
