Welcome, Will just back up what whitte says, At the moment, only been to one open cruise with the 300zx guys but could not have been felt more welcome for a first time turn-up and was very cruisy. There seems to be a growing population explosion of early zeds in W.A. One day if we can get them all running at the same time hopefully will be able to have a meet. Other than that good luck with your build.

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
kobes replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Almost positive the link for that car for $1500 is not from geraldton, otherwize i would have purchased it! Also just a point of interest, from my limited experience in car transport ( as i travelled with car on the Indian Pacific ) from Peth to Adeliade was only $770 Fully Included for safe transport of me and my car. I then rung up to bring a friend and the price dropped to $750 for both of us plus the car! Go figure! When i rung up to confirm the price of car transport dropped from $500 to $300 with two people travelling and it only cost $180 for a cheap seat on the train! -

Thanks whittie. Just for an update, the Regulator arrived, and had no probs installing it The radio now does not now cut off at any rev's However you are right about the adjustment being needed. When I put the tester on the battery, At idle it was fine at 13.3 V, However Still is spiking up to 17v @ 3000 rpms. ( even thou it not affect radio anymore) so have dissconected from alternator again and going to give the battery a full charge with battery charger and try again tommorow. Iam kinda hoping that it was just still going that high as battery needed a bit of a charge. If that does not work, I will follow your advise and try and throttle back the adjustment.

Ian, Not sure of the differences, All i am working off is the part number supplied previously by Ledge. These are the prices i can get them to your door for. They are brand new off the suppliers. I work in the industry, but have no experience with master cylinders, and just did some phone calls around to my suppliers to obtain price and availabilty. Have no probs in getting in any brand. Just thought i would pass on the info to other members if they needed.

Ok, I have bumped an old topic, as rather than start a new one, to show i try and look for answer first and people might get some help of this. I am needing to replace my OIL PAN gasket on a 260z L26, as there seems to be a small leak at the rear, have purchased a ACL easy fit gasket, and about to start the adventure of replacing it, are there any tips / tricks / suggestions an experienced hand might like to give? my main questions are 1. is a normal fibre washer used around the sump plug? 2. when installing the new gasket, what sealent is best used? 3. the tightness of the bolts when doing up, can you get away with just doing them up tight? or do you need a torque wrench? 4. Any other tips or tricks appreciated. P.s I do not have a car lift, will be doing on the ground or at best with some car ramps. Thanks Kobes

Just to be the dumbarse ( no really it might help some-one else that is reading but embarrised to ask ) I would adjust it so that it is giving out around 14V at 2000 rpms does this sound correct?

thanks whittie, Not planning on driving it, but thanks for the tips. However you have me at a head scratch moment, you mentioned that it was adjustable? I presumed the regulator would come preset? any ideas on the method use to ummm tune them in ?
-
Spot on, it was the regulator. So due to need over research time have ordered one in for $75 bucks, looks easy enough to hook in, just plug and screw. Hopefully that will fix, In the mean time have unpluged the alternator, have figured it better to run just off battery than have the alternator overcharging the system

Ok, Possibly later than what i should have, put the volt meter on the battery. when car not started = 12.7v at idle ( approx 600rpms) = 14.4v at 800rpms = 15.5v at 900rpms = 17.2 v at 1'000 rpms = 17.9v at 2'000 rpms = 18.24v So I guess it fair to say that yes the alternator is overcharing the system. The alternator the auto electrician installed is a rxa011. Will drive it down tomorrow and see what is going on with him.

I actually googled flux Capacitor ( not sure i should admit this) Can't Argue with that logic, I should be happy, whenever the triples sing, the stereo kindly shuts off.
-
hey guys, Hopefully some-one can help Just installed a stereo purchased from MSA in america, it is a retro style 260z one. Now i have spent a few years in my teens working as a radio installer, so pretty confident it is all hooked up right from the wiring side. However, when took it for a drive today the radio cuts out whenever i go over 2000 rpms. It will turn back on when i go back down?? At idle you can play it for as long and as loud as you like. I have just installed a new alternaternater as well is the only other thing i can think of as important. So Far the only solutions i can think of are 1. The radio is farked ( i can test by removing and hooking up in my ford and trying ) 2. Some thing is wrong with the alternaternator putting out to many volts as the revs go up ( not sure how to check, but i think i could put a altermeter acroos the battery and ive her some revs to see if going above 14.4??? ) 3. I have messed up somewhere hooking it up ( unlikely but possible) apart from that i am out of ideas, hopein some input will help. The only other thing that has changed after installling alternator on uage in dash the needle now goes right up to (plus 60) whenever giving it some gas... not sure if this is normal. Kobes

That is totally Bonkers! by bonkers I mean you would have to be a totally cashed up bogan or an imbecile to even think of that. talking of that is not the exchange rate almost dollar for dollar. hmmm...... i would buy it, but it is missing the fluro lights!

not really hard, he was a week off buying another car. He has now had the pleasure in experiencing all the zed has to offer and has decided he needs one. He told me last week that he was going to head over east to go check out some out and was asking me about the details of bringing one over. ( as he has seen a few in vic he would like to check out) I told him it may not be neccessary and i would put some feelers out to see if there are any in W.A. , To be honest i just checked this forom and the zed register forum. I think it could more of a case of some-one that has not listed there car for sale but may be tempted knowing there is a genuine buyer that may tempt them. but thanks for you link, it was very helpful and will be good to pass onto him, might be a good starting point where he can add his own flairs and upgrades to engine.

Hey Guys, probly a bit of a newb question. However my alternator just died in my 260z, so sourced a new one from ashdown for just over $100 and it fitted perfect. Before hand the alternator was only temp working and providing little and spasmotic charge ( had already changed the bushes so knew it was not that) . And as the car was kinda new, and being my first 260zed, i just thought the headlights where kinda ordinary. However with the new alternator, it is like the headlights are on super steriods and i would say almost on par with my AU ford. Which is pretty amazing. However what has me bugged, is why are the headlights better with a new alternator, as my basic believe was the lights run off the battery, so until the battery starts to go flat the lights should be as bright as if the alternator was charging it? Just asking incase in highlights a problem i might not be aware of Kobes
