  1. Yeh before I saw the Z light the first gen Celica did it for me.
  2. Wonder how many kids and animals were killed in the making of that film? Good old nanny State protects us from that hooning these days.
  3. Another milestone, it's been painted, well most of it anyway. Pretty pleased with the result except that the roof has turned out bumpy as expected. It will do for now but if I can't get used to it then I'll see what a pro wants to charge me to fix it up. Next jobs involve polycarbonate windows and the rear lights custom setup, no hurry to buff the acrylic because the more it hardens before that the better. The engine is in for a new cam and modification of the sump, am still waiting for a 6 speed auto so the powertrain can be installed which should be soon.. Enough chat, pics.
  4. How to pronounce Japanese car makes correctly, not like the Americans lol.
  5. Congrats on the buy, as you'd know Cairns is the rust capital so please please keep her in a lock up garage and get a full rust treatment too. You have a nice investment there.
  6. Sounds like the OP does not have possession of the car but want's to stop it's sale for some unexplained reason.
  7. And there's more.VF HSV and late Z28 extractors which need some vinegar on the heat shields to get rid of the rust stains but other than the rust are in excellent condition. Unlike a L6 say, it's impractical to tune the V8's pipes in accordance with the firing order but these are plumbed 1,3,2,4 rather than the usual 1,2,3,4 which I hope means something good because it's a more expensive way to do it. The other item is the Improved Racing crank scraper and baffle, entirely CNC machined and as light as, good enough to go on display. LS engines need all the lubrication assistance possible so oil return is vital.
  8. Hack jobs for sure, done with an axe too. But yeh, it otherwise looks like a sound project car.
  9. The roof is pretty well ready for some undercoat, at last, not having the piece of equipment that I know would have made the finish better has chewed up time. Plus I know that it will receive some close examination by the fans so it's finish is race car plus Basically getting the car ready for painting which should be finished next week, as we all know this is a PITA job, once again the finish is planned to be race car plus. The non roof pic is of the scuttle area where the original ventilation intake is, it's all been blocked off for aero purposes, alternative ventilation is yet to be finalised but includes a axial flow fan.
  10. You don't know who he is? Shame, one of the pioneering US Datsun racers. My guess is that he would get black flagged at Bathurst Regularity, impressive.
  11. If the MX5 driver was aware of the approaching Lotus then he did the right thing by holding his line, some would panic and try to get out of the way. I bet the two dampened their pants though.
  12. Yeh the three speeders can be worked to handle up to 450hp I think, the 4 speeders a bit less. They are an excellent box, light too, but Datsun owners prefer to shove a lever around instead for some reason.
  13. It's the unexpected that is most likely to ............... 0:27
  14. Duh, the means something.
  15. That looked like fun Gordo
  16. Bumping this up for Lurch, he must have missed the comments
  17. The 'Chinese' ones I've seen are made in Taiwan, one factory makes a heap of different branded ones that are basically all the same. The question mark is over valving which is where MCA comes in, their valving will be the best and is worth paying more fore. Otherwise the general quality and finish of the 'Chinese' ones seems to be very good
  18. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14448-the-global-z-car-s30s130-market-thread/?p=203723
  19. Get some tyre width up you gen wimp
  20. Might try a vacuum bleeder, the Z31's new MC has no bleed nipples at all.
  21. Wow, wide open, love it compared with the oversize go kart tracks that are around. The name The Bend sounds a bit local though, nothing wrong with Tailem for a race track, I can't pass em so I'll tailem.
  22. What, the 50 I lent you. Now if I said that somewhere in particular it would create a flood of comment, lols of the intrawebs.
  23. Anyone tired of these wheels, they should be tired by now.
  24. It has a 1975 US Japan forces sticker which indicates that it was in Japan then.
  25. That's great news Gordo, look forward to seeing you there. Best PM Dave as entry time is getting crowded, most of us have paid a deposit already.
