  1. Are Restored parts still available?
  2. Aw, don't you like the Rocket Bunny Gav
  3. They don't say how far the AWD project has proceeded, maybe not at all so it could be a good buy as a standard project? All the extras have to be worth something.
  4. Wow, sounds brilliant, can imagine it would be even better under load.
  5. Up to the wiring stage and associated bits and pieces now particularly running wires, the interior pic around the dash area shows the Commodore VF ECU on the left with the electric steering control unit in the centre above the trans tunnel. See also the two not three pedals the accelerator is a drive by wire VE unit. The ECU is really a Engine and Transmission Control Unit, one of the reasons for using the GM system which also controls the alternator. Had to buy a specific VF one which is in the latest engine front pic below, note the over run part of the pulley they use, also the ECU controls the alternator output in response to demand. Then we have a pic of the back of the car which is pretty self explanatory, just below the roof line on the left is the axial flow driver's fan for when we are sitting in the sun waiting to get going, air is sucked in via black ducting on the left and directed on the right towards the driver. That's about it for now, cheers.
  6. Nice looking S30 been advertised in HybridZ for a while, seems like there are two price levels in the US http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/129204-1973-datsun-240z-107k-miles-g-nose-flared-fenders-rebuilt-original-motor-buffalo-ny/
  7. Unfortunately I'm not going this year Gordo, your PI experience should be a great benefit although Bathurst has a greater variance of challenges. Make sure you post lots of video, it will be very interesting to see what your times are.
  8. Was the rice pelting to do with the Datsun? Think about it?
  9. I think that most of us would be having more fun and satisfaction with our grotty sheds and ROD's, rusty old Datsuns.
  10. Too good for rusty old datsuns, eurotrash only LOL
  11. 944's crack between the front of the sunroof to the top corner of the windscreen, T top Datsuns don't, Japanese engineering > German engineering.
  12. Nah, current model 750hp Corvette would do me, they actually do handle and brake now and by all reports are a blast to drive round corners.
  13. Don't get me started on Nissan and their failure to capitalise on the success of the S30, particularly their failure to offer a premium performance version and circuit racing support of each model. The 370Z is just a continuing example of that failure, always behind in performance, even their NISMO attempt is nothing much. In the US there is premium support for Zed prices in the form of various historic race cars that bring good money, nothing like that here because Nissan never laid the groundwork. Oh and as well as certain GTR's bringing good money here apparently good S chassis cars are doing well too.
  14. All sorts of things happening, have started work on the interior electrics and the dash but the most photogenic part at the moment is the radiator and surrounds. The top front X piece, which would be the radiator support on most cars, was gapped to make engine removal easier. Original radiator was in front of that at a steep angle but that was not practical here. Besides the PWR radiator out of the 280ZX was known to keep the engine cool so it was mounted at a slight angle in the gap which was closed with a removable bar for structural integrity purposes and to mount two brackets which locate the top of the radiator. One part doing two jobs, I like. In the top pic the Accusump is located at the lower right beside the radiator and the two coolers are below, the blue one is for the transmission. Not a lot of space around the radiator and it's electric fan but so far so good, it's all looking quite tidy. For a race car.
  15. Why would you sell that big place, collapsed ponzi, divorce????

    TEKNO NIGHT

Did you book the 260 in Aub to get the TEKNO treatment?
  17. Hmmm, anyone use one of these OS Giken LSD's for racing? 1, 1.5 or 2 way?
  18. A new thread might be best Jeff, the heading can't be edited. A couple of us tried the IMSA 300ZX, times may be back here somewhere, 2:12 or a touch better? Can't recall exactly.
  19. There is/was a dash repairer in Brisbane out Acasia Ridge way, they did good work.
  20. So what are the plans Tim after the engine is running, remove all the mechanicals and electricals, fix the body and go from there?
  21. Moving right along, engine and trans oil coolers are located as is the Accusump, couldn't finish the engine oil cooler system because no 12 mm hose available the downside of living in a country town. But progress continues, started hooking up the custom loom which connects to the GM engine and trans control unit, basically it's a VF V8 Commodore system. For a bit of light relief the composite bonnet was sat in place to try to finalise vent arrangements, learnt from the 280ZX how important that is. The two rearward vents are already in place, aero decides where they go which is at the low pressure part of the bonnet, see pics. But I also want two vents to act as radiator air exits, that means they have to be located at the high pressure of the bonnet which requires a different type of vent, see pics for the the two stainless steel ones just sitting in place. Could have a larger single vent centrally mounted but here that would require the air to do a 90* sharp turn immediately after exiting the radiator. Which may be OK given that the air there is going to be very disturbed and just looking for a handy place to go
  22. Basically you get all the wiring and bits and pieces belonging to the engine and transmission plus any other parts like sensors that the engine refers to like speed sensors. Work out what you are going to do for fuel and spark, the stock fuel supply system will need upgrading as to pump and maybe lines. I doubt that you will find info specifically on the 280ZX but heaps of RB's get transplanted in all sorts of cars so there will be plenty of info around. And make sure that you do a build thread here, there will be help as you go along and look to solve a problem.
  23. Made a sump protector, more of a deflector, out of 6 mm aluminium plate, it's nice to have a simple job for a change. In the pic the auto trans sump is visible, it's actually a bit higher than the engine sump so is not quite as vulnerable as it looks in the pic. Presently trying to get the required ride height and droop on the front suspension while waiting for other stuff, basically droop is adjusted by the length of the strut and ride height by the springs although of course both interact, that with the effect of the soft tender springs makes for some brain strain which ends up as a guess. Then drop it down, measure it up and try again.
  24. Vac-U-Pan's work off the exhaust don't they. On over run when there is a slight vacuum in the exhaust pipe with a one way valve to avoid pressuring when the engine is under load. Is that right?
  25. That's probably it, the offset. Anyway you have checked it all out so you know it's all good.
