  1. Thanks again Dave, I just can't find info like that on the CAMS website.
  2. Any more info on those Zeds? Sorry to say but I'm not diggin the awd conversion, rear drive foreva LOL.
  3. Thanks hmd, I thought that for sprints a car had to be road registered or logbooked so will check that out.
  4. Thanks Dave, that helps.
  5. A couple of questions but basically how do CAMS approach the the varying requirements, on the type of event eg sprints, or, the level of of competition eg national? The specific questions are, are any specific approved/types of seats required, and, will a tinted hatch glass be OK? On the glass, new ones are not available so I'm pretty well stuck with the tinted perspex one I have.
  6. As far as S30's go, tyres and brakes could be a safety issue, perhaps it's only restrained driving that has avoided a crash so far caused by tyre or brake failure due to over heating. From that point of view it seems more sensible that tyre and brake sizes be determined by car weights which would do nothing to damage the 'historic' aspect of Sc.
  7. Here is the HybridZ link Mike https://forums.hybridz.org/topic/129665-historicvintage-race-standard-brakes/ pick the eyes out of it of course. I do recall finding a cryogenic brake rotor treatment site that of course talked them up, if the tests referred to are good there would be some advantage for your use. There are all sorts of metal treatments available of course, if anyone has relevant info on them it would be the Porsche cabal, perhaps ask them LOL.
  8. Oh and on the subject of brakes I started a topic on HybridZ which came up with some interesting suggestions including a caliper fluid recirculation device. Freeze treated rotors would be on my 'must try' list though.
  9. Of course I'm not aware of everything that previous S30 Sc racers have done to get improvements approved Mike but I'm very aware of what is required to really push the issue. As you mention, evidence, without something like a dealer receipt for the improvement in question it's a waste of time. I've mentioned this in previous similar discussions, how eg the US would be a fertile place to start. Once a receipt is available with preferably supporting evidence then the issue can be pushed. And if it's still refused then there are legal avenues available to appeal the decision. That's the sort of commitment required, anything less is a waste of energy.
  10. A start for wider tyres/wheels would be to find proof that somewhere anywhere a dealer fitted wider wheels to a new car that was sold. I don't think that in the past Datsun racers were assertive enough with CAMS.
  11. Really if you want close racing then Sc is it isn't it, an import 280Z seems like a good place to start what with the prices of S30's here now.
  12. Wow, nice collection of Sc Datsuns above including the cheeky # 911, 280ZX 2+0.
  13. Camera car nicely driven.
  14. Did finally get an email from Nengun but it was one of those circular type responses, useless.
  15. Z31 + 4.1 + 6000rpm = 260kph
  16. Or a 4.08 will do.
  17. C'mon you, yes you the hoarder, turn your 4.1 into cash and make a donation to the site. Win win
  18. In case anyone checks, I emailed Nengun who have various kits listed but got no response as to what was which. I suspect that the difference is the number of plates in the kits. Like Roger I've decided to get a new LSD instead.
  19. LSD is sorted, just need the 4.111 for Bathurst.
  20. So which kit did you get and how did it work out.
  21. Maybe a 29 spline limited slip too, as well as the 4.111
  22. Yeh Dave, my point is that it's not part of the cage and forms just another point in addition to what CAMS requires to tie in with the chassis but we will see, the local logbook bloke is pretty realistic. As far as I'm concerned it's ready to go to the dyno bloke now. A better pic of the pipes looking from RF.
  23. Is that all you could find to criticise Lurch, I'll take that as a back hand compliment. Let's put it this way, would the door bar be better with the extra support or not? And, in the situation, if square section can be welded in much more effectively than round, which would you use?
  24. The price you pay for a V8, extractor and exhaust complexity, cost, weight......... But the local bloke did a beautiful job which needs a video to capture properly. But stills, best I could do. Too expensive to get it all ceramic coated but some heat paint should do something.
  25. She should be back on the track later this year so anything is likely to happen then
