  1. OZ001, Here are some more photos of the red 240Z (originally Lime Yellow). It is pretty ordinary. I was given estimates of $12-15K to get the body right!! Then there is interior and mechs. The red one is the best 240Z he has (the other, but I thought the pick of the bunch was a blue 260Z 2 seater?
  2. Re green 240z at http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240z-Series-1-260z-280Z_W0QQitemZ110467455486QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Cars?hash=item19b85f99fe SOLD already for $9500. now we will have to wait another week before we can bid on it again
  3. For those that can't wait, there are some photos of #5 at http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6019.15.html You might be able to see some of the others in a "where's wally' kind of way in some of the shots. Should this be moved into another Thread as it may well take over the e-bay thread?
  4. Has anyone had a look at this car? Is it as neat as it appears in photos? I don't want to start another debate on the choice of colour or the fen shui of the vinyl roof: just want to know if the car is in good knick. Anyone from up there planning to have a look at it?
  5. He is a really nice bloke. He was VERY reluctant to sell any of his Zeds. It took me quite a while to convince him to offer some items for sale. He was a past member of NDSOC and would get swamped by blokes wanting everything for nothing. I honestly believe that if he gets pumped for stuff, or attempts are made to score the bargain of a lifetime, then this aladdins cave will shut and will not open again. He's not looking to retire on the back of the Zeds (or his other cars), so I ask that people offer reasonable value for things and keep the cave open. My 2 cents.
  6. Hey John, How did you go in Lancefield? Did you have more tears than smiles? Did you find yourself not wanting to leave, just in case you missed something hidden under something, behind something else? How did you go with your breath test in Lancefield?? People are watching you
  7. G'day dubrat. Welcome. I'm in the same boat (all be it much further south) as you. I can tell you from my experience, the price range you are quoting will get you a car in the range from HUGE project to BIG project. Road ready(ish) and relatively rust free seem to start around the $10-12K mark. Having said that, you may be lucky if you are patient. Good luck.
  8. Many years ago, I picked up a wrecked mini and a shmick shell to do a swap. Had it in the olds garage for 2 weeks before Mum lost it sold the lot for $300 while I was at work for a couple of days. It was only 25 years ago, so I'm still not talking to her!!
  9. Looking really good. Well done. Carbs came up a treat. Will you be coating them with something to keep them that good? You got bloody birds in the shed too!!
  10. Wow, the engine looks fantastic. There is probably a post somewhere on this but, how do you get such a high shine on the rocker cover and aluminium parts? Have you put a clear coat or similar on the head?
  11. The one next to it is an auto 260Z. It too is so tired it's almost in a coma. He has 11 Zeds all up. One is a monster turbo giant, that stripped the thread on the g'box input shaft!! He wont sell that one tho :'( I have posted photos of a red 240Z of his previously. He has LOTS of stuff, but it is ALL very tired. He does seem to have realistic prices on them so far. that is until we as a group over-inflate them to ensure we get them!
  12. Yes, this is the bloke I was talking with. Please don't all rush out and buy all his Zed parts. I will need him for my own parts .... one day.
  13. Can't see the rust without them Can't read the label on the stubby either

    What Gearbox?

Again, I've been told, the 260 box is a one piece unit, whilst the 240 box is a two piece housing. Again some of the others will be able to give you more detail than I. To date I only get to read and talk about Zeds. :'(
  15. Thanks guys. I did find the NSW appears to have a greater variety of courses available. Thanks Sirpent. may well take you up on your offer. Probably take you up on your offer of Lurch's time also
  16. Price drop to $30K. Surely that has some thinking?
  17. G'day all, I have noticed in several threads reference has been made to an 'Automotive Restoration' course at TAFE. Can anyone tell me where to find these courses? Has anyone done such a course in the last 6 months or so? I have spent an hour or so going through TAFE and College sites looking for such a course. I found Cert III in Automotive Body which states it covers welding, panel repair, panel fabrication, trimming, fibreglassing etc. Sounds fantastic Course Requirements:- Employed in field!! FARQ!!! All I want to do is learn how to do stuff before I start stuffing up a Zed. I know I could practise on old Ford parts (cause who would care if I stuffed them), but without some idea is naught more than a walk in the dark. I know there are some quality books about (not quite the same as a course). What are some of the best and easily available ones to get?
  18. On behalf of all the 'challenged' people on this forum - that would be great!!
  19. I love these cars. One of the guys at AROCA had one in 1990 and it was a little rocket. It kicked but in the motakhanas! Everytime I point one out to my wife, she asks me if I'm a Hostie! Followed by a few offensive and discriminating terms for left footers. More power to you. I wish I had the courage to get one, but I'm weak :'(
  20. OK - who bought the green one for $9,300 ish?

    What Gearbox?

I have been told the 260Z box is good. I'm sure it is an easy conversaion and it has closer ratios than the 240 box. But I'll now step out of the way and let the guys that really know give you your answer Try this: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2675.0.html and this: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,1986.0.html
  22. Yes it helps a lot. Does 4 litres do the whole car? I assume it it done outside as it is probably quite messing? I can't wait until I actually have a Zed. I'm like a kid in a candy shop, and giving my wife the sharts.
  23. I'm on the same page. Awesome
  24. Looks good. Just as a side, what brand/model of tyres are you running?
  25. Rev, nice work. Forgive a (stupid) question from a bloke who knows nothing, but ... The bits that you have welded (or it looks like brazed) on the rear hatch/brace. Did you make them from scratch or are they cut from a donor? While I'm displaying my ignorance, what did you use to strip the body? paper or chemical? What grade of paper or what brand of chemical? That's enough from me for a while. Again, looks good.
