Rev, please come after service. If you come I promise to perform a christian act I wont even make a single crack about hairdressing - obviously except to have a dig at Benny, but I'm sure that's OK. This forum is ALL about mateship. Still is and I reckon always will be. The Zeds are just the conduit. I'll also protect you from the 19yo Missing you MaygZ

Benny, want to bring some door skins?
-
I agree Simon. Just goes to prove that if you have enough power, you don't need to know how to spell apex!
-
I'll be there. If you answered your phone I'd know if you had a shed yet or M&D's for lunch

But I have managed to squeeze in a little work on the Zed between work and trips back to the farm. As you can see the shed has shrunk :'( The engine and auto are out of the parts car. I forgot how much oil comes out the back of on of these boxes, so a bit of clean up to do. The block is a 54 and the head is a P90. No idea of the engine internals as yet. It will be interesting to see. The box is an auto, so who cares about it. I'll give it a clean up and then it can be an artificial reef! Everything looks good so far.

Well something's happening. There has been a lot going on in the last couple of months. Not much of it on the Zed. For those that don't know, I've changed jobs, moved from near Kilmore to Bairnsdale. The new house has a small shed, as yet with no power :'( but as you can see from the first photo it's possibly a good move. The second photo shows my Lab, Jake, who has just had a shoulder reco @ $1600 and the next photo shows my Kelpie, Teddy, who had a fight with a Hilux. He's currently in ICU at Werribee @ $800/day. He'll cost about $5-6000 to get back now. This has cut into the budget more than a little. The next photo shows a man wedged tight into Martin Brundell's F1 car. Took nearly 10 minutes to get him out even though he wanted to get out. No they wouldn't let me start it

I must be missing something. One sections their struts and puts in some of Ben's coilovers, lowering the ride hight of their beast (along with other benefits). This obviously changes the camber - and possibly the caster as I'm not all over the strut angle. then we purchase an aluminium bloke to fit at the bottom of the strut? Doesn't this simply replaced the length taken out when the strut was sectioned? Doesn't it simply return the strut and angles back to the factory settings (obviously dependant on how much you sectioned)? It appears to me that Lurch's fix and/or BenZed's top plate or Whittie's arms would change the angles in a betterway. As I said, I must be missing something.

While it's on the hoist should we convert it from girl to man(ual)?? I think the sunday would suit me better as I think I'm starting night shift on sunday. I would be so much cooler to be able to say .... I'm going to HK or USA or something, but alas my life is dull, colourless and boring :'(

Does Auszcar Need A Private Forum for Members?
MaygZ replied to Sirpent's topic in Website Feedback & Club Discussions
Thank you Rev. Again you pick up on exactly how I (and many others) feel about this site. Car info is good, the banter and friendship that follows is great! I have 'trolled' a few other forums on different subjects (as I am a master of none) and on many other forums I have noticed that someone asks a question or logs an opinion and there is rarely more than 2 or 3 replies. On here that doesn't even happen to South Australians! (bite me Mick) Some forums don't allow entry unless you register. When I come across them I simply hit the back button and find another. With my natural distrust of people, I'm not prepared to provide my details without making some inquiries/testing the water/trolling for a while to get the feel of the forum and members. I suspect that many are of a similar view. I have no problem with trollers. Some will join and some won't. Some own Zeds and many don't. Some feel they have nothing to offer and some don't have anything to offer (note some of the latter join anyway - WOW a shed!) I joined this forum and my first post wasn't really an intro. I asked a question about a Zed I found and whether it was a viable resto. The responce I got was supportive and very much appreciated. I'm now an active member (possibly too active) with many posts and very litle constructive to say. But I have now made some friends - and some not so friends (Wow a shed!) On the subject of missing out on the bargain of a lifetime - that's disappointing. You could be donating $1M a day to the forum and still miss out by a minute. Magic happens. I know nothing about running or managing a forum. I believe that this one is run very well. Is it possible to limit the trolling access of an IP to a couple of hours? Can the sign up page link/direct the new member straight to the Intro section? Or to a page first that welcomes them and includes a guide to writing an Intro? Can there be some sort of block on posting before an Intro is posted? I now look forward to the crows picking apart my comments and the crow eaters trying to read them -
Welcome aboard and very nice collection.

Holy shiney Snakeman. They look mighty impressive. VROOM

I'm so easily confused I agree with RB for the reasons above.

It is difficullt for anyone to indicate 'pointers' that you have missed when you don't provide all the info to start with. There is nowhere to hook up a laptop to find the easy answer. It sounds like you have done all you can, and I strongly suspect that you knew that already, so bite the bullet and pull the head off and have a look. MaygZ

I think it look awesome white like the car. It doesn't look like an add on, but part of a well presented car. Good work MaygZ

a motor that has just sat for years will have surface rust in the bores (at least). then when you start it the rings scrap along that surface rust. this does two things: wears out the rings very fast and as the bores aren't as smooth as you would like, lets oil past them to burn. You are right that old fuel that been sitting in lines or the tank will cause problems. Fuel in the lines will have partialy disolved fuel lines and fuel in a tank will start to separate. Neither situation is good for a clean burn or eficient ignition, hence crap idle and run. You might find that it's not all together too late. Take out the plugs and runs some oil into the cylinders and allow it to soak overnight. Drain the tank and flush the lines with clean fuel. This might remedy the situation to a bearable level. In the long run your engine will need a hone and rings and seal replaced. A motor that's going to be left for a very long time should have the internals coated in oil, but very few people go to the trouble. Good luck Post up in the Introduction section and show us some photo of your ride. MaygZ

Happy Birthday Jane. Did he get you a pony???

John, is that the fan running at its full speed, ie are you running through the switch. Even with the holes, that's very good output. I'm guessing that when the dash and carpets etc are in it will be much quieter. I think you have done a great job. Now while you wait for the monster motor, you can build more of them for us

LOL LOL ;D ;D pi$$ed myself Rev.

Just to add a bit of confusion .... Lurch, I'll be driving past your front door Thursday evening. I can pick it up and take it to Lancefield if that helps anyone?? -
Really? None of you guys and gals are interested in footy? If you haven't done supercoach before: it's free, is easy to play and it's good giggles at times.
