  1. i pulled the head off this morning and by the looks of things the head gasket was leaking between cylenders 5 and 6. that could explain the smoking. and i also found that there is to much fuel passing through the carbies. and flooding the engine. im guessing the float bulbs might be gummed up. and no i wasnt expecting there to be a magic button to press, but i tohught you might no that every car is built and works diferently in their own quirky ways. i just thought there may have ben a little somethin i might have missed. thanks for all your help MaygZ, Linguini
  2. hey all, im new here and i just bought myself a 260z. it has rather alot of that dreaded rust on the shell. i came to this site for help and guidance. i thought it might just be a good place to start. p.s. i apologise for posting else were before here, and websites confuse me and i cudnt find any info on my problem or the intro page.
  3. i had oiled it prior to starting it, the tank was drained of old fuel and new fuel put in. i also put new oil in the engine and through the plugs before starting it. i am by trade a mechanic, but i just thought there might be any pointers out there that ive missed. i think ill just strip it and build it again replacing attthe rings and give the bores a good hone, i think that alot of the gaskets might need replacing to. thanks all the same
  4. can anyone give me any ideas on what might be the problem with my 260z. its been sat there for maybe 5 years befaore i accuired it. i managed to get it started yesterday, but it sounds like its only running on 4 or 5 cyl. its also spewing out ALOT of smoke and smells stronly of oil. weather it as old fuel in the lines or if it has a broken ring(s). i dont realy want to be pulling it apart if it is uneccisary. any ideas or tips would be much appreciated. thanks
