there are three Nissan part numbers that cams have allowed the z cars to use. Unfortunately my 280z has a part number for the spoiler, but it doesnt seem to exist it should be written into the CAMS technical Bulletin Specification sheet for Datsun Z cars most of the 240.260 guys are running them now, have been for quite a few years, no issues, until I turned up one meeting with a wide shovel attached!! they dont allow the BRE type design, go figure, apparently it will make ALL Z cars far to quick. wooses

Brisb. Two rear bumpets one front one

D3Coy is in for first chioce of a rear one -
Educate me, a 1994 is that a front wheel drive jobbie? If so, dunno! If not, just jack up one corner at front, or both, whatever, and try spinning wheel. Could be something silly simple like a twig behind brake backing plate. A small stone or pebble can do this! Or yep pad wrar indicator, dry wheel bearings You might have to do a bit of undoing of things.

Not relevant on topic, but in the "off"year of 2012, the three day june queens birthday long weekend is vacant at Morgan Park Warwick. The z club up hete sort of booked it, but have dcided that it doesnt want to be bothered going ahead, as some reckon it is financially a risky thing to do. Morgan Park track hire, and ancilliary costs, including cams permit, medical crews, fire marshalls, and other things needed, would cost aporox 12 to 14 k. Entry fee of $160 per car, times max of 120 , min of 80, would pay? I have suggested to FOSC to bring their circus to Warwick, and was met with enthusiasm! Big question is how many southernets would come up for three days of motorsport, with a show and shine, and Satday Nite 1/8 th mile straight line event? Can people still afford, and have ability, to travel to largish events? There arent too many personnel that are CAMS qualified to run these things at a club level basis, here in Qld!

Not a problem Mick, happy to help! Whitehorse make pretty well all the piece rims in Aus for quite a few "manufacturers"!! Now, someone pull their finger out and do a deal with matt for tne shell. We need to keep the dream alive, and get him into a prod sports race winner, the plan is laid!

My bad, thete will be a rally Zed there, Rob Devenish has offerdd to run as car Zero, to ensure all controls and officisls are readty to go, for tje main field, Rob will be approx 20 minutes in front, with a little cute old Datsun 120 running rear gunner just behind him! Now lets see, do the rules allow overtaking slow old Z cars?

Little birdie whispers is that Bathurst FOSC Easter 2012 could???, be go, there will be some form of contract for a couple of years extra, no doubt. With council. Now, if, and a bloody big if, say two organising parties COULD get togethwr, shate costs, bring more entrants, cars, show and shine, social things, etc, along to a group that KNOWS HOW to run a meeting at the most iconic track in this country, then it is a win for all. Mercedes did it in 2008 porsche in 2010, Datsuns in 2013??? BUT god forbid, that two separate organisatipns can work together! Just little birdie whispets, at this stage???

Looking at the design, and the positioning, these will create turbulence to airflow, thus delaminating the stream, slowing it, which in turn stops air from "rushing" through. By slowing air its cooling effect will be greater, hence the later fitment purpose for aircon use. Also reckon it may have been discovered rhat in summer events in Japan, the cars ran hot. I had heard that some Aussie g nose fitted cars can run hot, but as these arent factory and i dont know what was fitted re ducting from behind grill leading to rad core, i have no idea. I have done a bit of thin ally flat panel ducting to a race car, that has a small stock rad with great effect ( datsun 2000) engine puts out huge heat, due to its capability to develop up to 243 hp, engine bay is not aero friendly, so by running flat ally panels from grille opening, flareing out to rad core, ie a revetse funnel, this keeps all air concentrated, and allows it to slow down. These winglets, could aslo be known as "canard wings" these are used on outside of body work to create negative air pressure zones, often in front of front wheels to aid brake cooling ( helps to"suck"air out of wheel centre)

If you think you can weld, can cut things up, know how to put things back together, well, talk to Patch, and PZG302, both here in Brissy, pick up the two, and make a good "one". Pzg's rear half is an early liteweight 240, the front is a bit bented but! That'd give you something to do, over many weekends, and, keep you out of the clutches of the Ministry of War,

I reckon that a impromtu get together for a feed should occur, lurch, jane, maygz, me and any others going. Im at the rally hq at no 1 esplanade, arroving wednesday arvo. You giys are well familiar with food joints in the afea, and best of all i am on a strict sea food diet,,,,,, i see food, and i eat it ! Bluerat, give the lebos at swift and shift a ring, and get your ass there ! Nah, running put in front, no one will be passing me, but Rob Devenish in his rally Zed is 00 car!, ill have to request passing him if he gives me too much dust!
-
Gee, but not one Zed entered, but coming down from Qld is the most iconic rally car in Australian history, the Datsun 120Y ( ex George Fury), it is running at front of field, in the 120 car event. Now fitted with the original spec cams, to give it more low to mid range stump pulling torque, matched to the gloriuos top end of 9000 rpm FJ24 goodness, it will be the best sounding thing in the forests around Lakes Entrance, since the woodchippets wre kicked out!

I have a set of Performance Mackay rr valve springs for $100, had little use only. Gee you combine all the above and you are onto something decent, as long as you go ahead and do it!

Has anyone tried these aftermarket panels from eBay?
dat2kman replied to RLY240's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
he is known as Phils 4 Rotaries, in Lawnton Brisbane, and will sell direct from his shop, if you want to bypass evilbay, and cheaper rates, sometimes too, he gets them stamped in Thailand, does job runs at a time, so sometimes stock supply can be an issue. Always ask first is it available. I get some bit off him for a thing that strats with M and dont have pistons! -
Hey Pete, I have to use it, Group S Historic prod sports rules, so i just make it the almost best it can be. I have done more airflow testing on some things not yet fitted, they comply with rules, i just need certain things done to the inside of certain things, yes secret squirrell, stuff, but i have a competitor trying to do one the same, so we are all a bit sshh sshh! what a bloody giggle this all is, the sheep stations we race for are SSSOOOOOOO HHHHUUUGGGEEE!!!
-
a piston is a pump in a cylinder. the cylinder is not closed a lot, it has valves that are controlled by a cam, with overlap between exhaust and intake. It is surprising how much fresh fuel air charge can escape out the exhaust port at rpm. I flow plenty through a single 50 mm L28 injection throttle body, as much as any triple weber carbed, or a SU carbed car, it is all dependant on which pistoon pump is drawing air, and how much.

Gav, buy my historic logbooked Group U sports sedan, series 1rx7 690kg, mid mount 13 b pp fresh motor and box, full suspension setup, big brakes, complete ready to run, just needs fuel lines and carb linkages setup, has 6 fronts, two rears,10" wide rims, full race compliance. Best of all CAMS has said the U cars are to race with the group C and A touring cars! Do the math, its a front runner, why pay $200,000 for a gp a/c, when ypu can steal this from me for $25k atm. Once i get it finished, and some runs on the board, and probably fall in love with it, the price will go up! Oh also comes with heaps spares and full body moulds, but the rest of the forum fraternity will be sure to dis-own you! And they sound bloody horrid!!!

Hi Aub, hey, whats 245 kmh in mph? A little red Datsun, with no roof does that, at two race tracks, and only a four cylinder too!!
-
well i race with that lot, in Prod Sports, and I have a historic sports sedan i am finishing off, so pretty familiar with the whole racing scene, Lourch has been on the periphery of it all, and likewaise a lot of other guys here. Why you ask? You got a car you'd like to put on track? it is not too hard, and a lot of fun!
