Welcome It is all ways good to see another Queenslander join the ranks .You may want to go along to this meeting next month as there should be a few Z owners showing their cars .You never know what might turn up. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13825.0.html

I will do my best to be there Peter .Will you be bringing the recon- L28? Geoff (New Vice President ZCCQ) is known for setting out exciting runs which may take a little longer to finish that stated in the notes.
-
The first week of February should entry forms and all relevant information available for this event including a early morning happy laps(of Lakeside raceway) breakfast run the same as in the 2011 event.
-
It is now just a little over 2 weeks before the running of this event and it will be the first in a series of run up events for the Easter NDN2015 Nationals through out 2014. For more details of this event you can find them here. www.facebook.com/ndocarnationals

This run which is set out by the ZCCQ is one of the best that the club puts together .The drive is good, spirited at times one could say but nothing over the top . Food is always good and there is a good chance that there will be someone there you will know or they will want to know you.You don't have to have a Datsun-Nissan to enter this run(they just didn't want any photos taken) and the ZCCQ will not be pressuring anyone to join there membership if they don't wish to. Come and enjoy you will have a good time.

Thank you for the offers . I will put them on the back burner for now . I can not answer many question at present and thank you Jason, I was unaware that QR had changed from ASAA . Reading the new licence forms is quite interesting. But it will also be Lakeside fot the venue as dates on weekends at both tracks fill quickly and the 17th May was one I could get . Lakeside seems more popular with the masses .Remember the group sprint we tried to organise at Ipswich some time ago. But yes ,I have asked the question to QR and I have had no answer back as yet .Being Christmas and all I don't really expect to till new year. I feel it will not be a easy question to answer for just a single club event and the answer may be no. But that is no reason why the question can not be asked for the Warwick NDN2015 event.

As you may of guessed by now Richard and myself are looking after the next competition track event to be run by the ZCCQ . As this is a club day ,we are looking at the types of events would best suit a verity of club members, invited clubs and forum members It will be on the 17th May 2014 but I am waiting to hear back from Queensland raceways about what we can do in a fixed price day hire event. I have made a number of requests. The ZCCQ will not be making any money from this event and in fact may run at a small lost . Safety will be a primary issue in anything we do and we will comply with all requirements set out by QR for any events we run. This is about providing something that you may not be able to get at other events or at least a stepping stone to other events. We will need all the support we can get to make this work. Please help.
-
Long story short . It is a drive on public roads from A-B-C and is as about as simple as it gets . You don't need a navigator ,but it helps. But the ZCCQ is a CAMS club. This is so its members can obtain CAMS licences to enter other events organised by other clubs .Like all TARGA type events, sprints and event motorsport. In doing so we have to follow the rules CAMS set out for its events. This is a new one from CAMS. All who attend a CAMS Club organised and permitted event have to be a member of that club or member of an other CAMS club. This is why ZCCQ introduced a 1-5 day trial membership as we know not everone wants to be a full time member. So the red tape goes away for the cost of a gold coin.

Top gear events for the part of year required are booked .So they are out .Remember looking at this from a club point of view. Sprint days: Clubs are now limited to 2 groups only. So they are out . This is under ASAA. So that only leaves a day hire. Everything that has been talked about all makes good sense . But if something can be done it will be like an entry level event .If it works and is exciting , then those can look at moving into the other options offered at other race meets. Change your car to meet regulations and rules It may be something to be included at the next Nissan ,Datsun Nationals and that will be a CAMS event and could be the next stepping stone so to speak with CAMS rules and regs. I am with Richard as a Z only event .But I have been a Z person for 35 years now. So I am bias and we can not have that .In the spirit of the event and charter of the ZCCQ it has to be open to all ZCCQ members, invited clubs and owners. Not sure how that works for a NDN Easter event as most non Nissan Datsun ZCCQ members feel they should not enter or are not allowed to enter. As may be the case.

Some pics from the last X-Border Run .Told you I would get you Jason H for taking us on a wild goose chase. Never assume the person in front knows where they are going.
-
There will be a Cross Border Run on Sunday 2 February 2014 .Departing Nerang shopping centre approx 9.00am and arriving at the Heritage Tea House Bangalow around 12.30pm .This run will take in great country roads over Springbook ,Tomewin and The Burringbah Ranges for around 180 klms. The Tea house has been reserved for Lunch @$23.00 per person with plenty of on site parking available for group photos Entry is free and open to all Nissan Datsun owners . You will need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated car club and the Z Car Club of Queensland will provide trial on day memberships to those who require them for $2.00 each. Bookings are essential for Lunch and close on 19 January 2014 For further information contact Geoff Burton at NDN15@zcarclubq.org.au This event is part of the ROADZ to The NATIONALS series of events

Let me ask this same question in an other form. What if a group of sprinters from an open sprint or club day decided to have a five lap flag to flag race and you were there on the day, would you put your car on the line so to speak? Regardless of any rules other than safety and what sprinters run under in their classes. I am not being smart here .I have a genuine need to know if people would do it if the opportunity arose.
-
Yeah: But what if there was. Would you enter? What if it was just a 5 lap race to start with(flying start) and who here would be willing to go head to head over five laps?

All this fuss over Nev .The truth is he couldn't do enough for a follow Z owner. Helped push my car down pit row on more than one occasion. He is a strong supporter of LAPZ events at Lakeside . I hope he will be there in MAY 2014. Before you two jump in . NO: Its not so he can be their to push my car around .Be carefull or I will make you two work together in putting a flag to flag event together for LAPZ. -
No: that is a fair comment locky . I would say they are as competitive as the next person . You only have to look at Morgan Park results to see that . But some of us (me included) are a little gun shire of flag to flag .But that's not all of us.So as this is a ZCCQ organised event they may be open to what Jason sudjested and I am looking into its possibility. But primarily the day will be geared to suit most people . You will go home having had your fill of track time.If it is rained out we should be offered an other day and I am sure any interstaters that would want to leave their car with ZCCQ or AUSZCAR members fly home and then fly back for the offered day would be welcomed to do so. At this point I can promise you this, that a full day at Lakeside run by TIME ATTACK is $300 per car. Entry fee for LAPZ will be well below that.

Happy to say that this event is now up and running . It was a bit like a Z, need two turns of the key to get it started. So as per last full day event held in 2011 this event will start with a happy laps breakfast. Which is a buffet followed with half hour track time at highway speeds behind a pace car . You are allowed to take passengers with you on to the track and you only need a civil license for this event or learners permit. This part of the day is separate from the main day and will have its own cost. The main part of the day will be skill and speed events and as such the cost of entry has gone up from the last event held in 2011. You can expect that increase to be around 30%. As per last event there will be no trophies or placings . But there will be timing of cars in a number of different events so you don't need a fast car to do well (but it helps) on the day. I am now in the process of putting together a program and entry forms including license forms as this is a AASA event. This should be done by mid January and down loadable from the ZCCQ web site and Queensland raceways web site. The clip is from the 2010 event

Yes they did come on the S1 240Z but only on the first fifty cars .That is any 240Z's above HS30 000050 did not have them. My car was number 46 and I sold the cover to one of the members here over two years ago . He may still have it and I am guess he will want a bit more for it . I could ask him to MP you. The only other one I know about is on car number 12 in Brisbane and he won't part with it.

I can it on Sunday .I have all the Christmas lights up now so my job is done.

Hi Mike Glad to see you on board .You may want to find one of your old newsletters from early 2003 and post here the article about " THE TRUE COST OF BUYING a ZED" Up dated to suit today. -
Your idea ,Shaun(sexual-sushi) seems to be popular or the favoured one .It's in your hands now. Let us know where, what time you want us there.
-
There are planning difficulties with this event and they not related with anything in my primary posting. I am hopefull they can be resolved and soon.Anyone who has organised an event like this knows that there can be teething problems
-
sorry jumped the gun .There will be a hold on this event.

Another Lapz event (speed event)will be held at Lakeside Park QLD on the 17TH May 2014. The formate of the event has not been finalized ,but will be soon .This is an opportunity to put forward any ideas for a programme for the day . Last time we had over 40 ZEDS to the event and 30 other Nissan datsuns . We want to beat that this time round.
