The ZCCQ was invited to attend an open day at Rolin imports today on the GOLD COAST QLD. Unfortunately I didn't ask to may questions other than what NISSAN L series engines do you have in stock . Sweet bugger all was the reply . But they do have a wide range of engines that could replace them all with goodies to go with them.

As crazy as it sounds ; a XJS Jaguar . But I would fit it with 6 down draft Weber's . I heard an XJ13 with a V12 with 6 Weber's at one of the Grand Prix in Adelaide many years ago .It sound like THOR had farted as it was going down the back part of the track.

Don't put yourself down Lee . They are respectable times ,especially if that was your first time to the paperclip. You will just get better from now on.With any luck we may be able to have a group booking later in the year along with a breakfast. Then you will be able to see how you go passing a group of Z's on track. That will get the butterflies going. Aub

I agree with Dave , good photos Peter . Did you get any of the other jap cars present on the day? Good effort getting 3 of your Z's there Dave and I am guessing you had to put up the tent as well. All in all it looks if it was a good day.

I had a problem very similar to yours Bozo . But mine wouldn't go into forth gear . My box is from a mid 80's Nissan using a 260 bell housing and it did the same thing almost word for word as yours . But I was on a run with the ZCCQ which involved a lot of up and down mountains and I was pushing it hard from time to time.I managed to get it home on the other gears with no problem . But I decided to pull the box out and have a look at it some 2 weeks later as it is not an every day car . Before doing so I tried the box just to get a fell of what the problem may have been , only to find the problem was gone just like yours . That was almost a year ago now and I have not had any problems with it since . But I also haven't done any mountain runs in that time. I have even done a day at Lakeside without gear box problems .Unfortunately I can not say that day was totally problem free.The only thing I can point to with mine is there was a lot of hard acceleration and deceleration going through the box on that run . That may have something to do with the lock out of one gear with heat sink. Other than that only God knows what was going on.

So Richard, should Nev be worried .

I wish to apologise to all those that wished to attend the proposed Lapz event on the 17May for its cancellation. I have been overseas for the pass 5 weeks and was not part of the decision making process to cancel the event.If you have processed entry forms and forwarded them to the ZCCQ and have not received a refund you need to contact them(ZCCQ) directly . There seems to be talk of an event to replace Lapz some where down the track ,but I do not have any information on what that may be or when. Again sorry for any inconvenience that has been caused over this event cancellation.

There are some very fast Z's signed up for this event .With the likes of Neville M and Lee F (sub 60sec laps)from the last LAPZ event and a number of Z's for the cruise drive first up in the morning. But we have some RX7's throwing down the gauntlet and we need more Nissan's and especially more Z's to hold this lot at bay. We don't want to cancel this event but as a small club(ZCCQ) and with expense for the 2015 Nationals knocking on our door we can not afford a huge lose on this event.Please throw your support behind this event and sign up or give notice of intent here or email ZCCQ if you have and intrest in this event. Susie's day was brought to the attention of those present at the last ZCCQ general meeting and emailed out. The plan is to assemble between 12:30 and 1:00 pm in the rooftop carpark at Coles Greenslopes Mall Shopping Centre cnr Logan Road and Plimsoll St, Greenslopes- best access is into Plimsoll St from Logan Road, left into Lottie St, then left into Sackville St, then a sharp left into the rooftop carpark. Look for Bill's White Zed and Aubrey's Red Zed. We will then make a short procession to nearby Hunter Street, Greenslopes ( see Map link below) and park up in the street for say 30 minutes to allow Susie to view our Zeds. Sunday shopping can be a little busy from time to time so the closer to 1.00pm the better. The Quinn Boy's : went up against them in 2004 in Queensland Raceway Saturday sprint series . Tony wiped the floor with me then ,hate to think what he would do now. Looks like we have some sponsor support from LIQUI MOLY,MEGUARIES,MOTOR ACTIVE and others . But I am not sure what's on offer . It may be all for the 2015 Easter event ,but they will be flying flags on the day . So our engines may run well and the cars will look great.

Yes Matt , you can enter the Mazda . As far as the extension goes .That is a cams requirement(QLD reg cars only if I remember) for when you leave the main road and cross on to private property before entering the pit area. It is a sound practise but not required for this event. Having said that if you feel you need to get one I would.

It's on again LapZ at Lakeside the ZCCQ is hosting this event as one of our RoadZ to the Nationals events as lead up to NDN15, sponsored by MotorActive - Meguirs : Liquid Moly ; House of Kolor ; Love of Cars ; MotoEx . Full Day of driver skill and Sprint Event to be held at Lakeside Raceway on May 17 Entry is open to all with the event structured for Novices to Experienced Drivers. Track Licenses available if required. Road Registered and Un Registered (Track) Cars can compete. Multi Event Format means entry is limited to 60 Cars, Entry closes on the 9th May if not fully subscribed before. Happy Lapz and Breakfast is held prior and separate to the speed and skill events so anyone who does not wish to compete can still come along and enjoy themselves with a cruise of LAKESIDE RACEWAY prior to the main event.. I take it d3cOy. If you won't have your car finish for July then we won't see you at LAPZ in May ether. If you could match it with Nev in his white 240 (if he enters) and some others. Then you would have a good chance to take it to the rest.

You see there's your problem .You are seaking permission .It is better to seek forgiveness . Ether way you pay . But with forgiveness you have what you want up front and in most cases costs less than permission.Yes you will have to eat humble pie for a while and chunks will be torn from you . But that is what a Z is worth.

Entries will be open on the 1st March and this is a day long event. But be quick as entries will be limited for both the speed events and Happy Laps event.Anyone from here who entered the 2011 event will know what it is like . This year will have a few speciality events included. 17 MAY IS THE DAY.

In the process of putting a claim through Shannons now. I have all my cars ,house and contents with them. A number of weeks ago there was a hail storm with stones the size of tennis balls come through here . Not a lot of fun to be out in. I tried to save my daughter's car with some old carpet underlay but when these things came down I bailed and stood in the shed.Her car was not covered by shannons. But I have a colorbond roof on the house and it was damaged although it seemed very minor I left it up to Shannons to decide if it should be replaced or not. I just notified them that it may have been damaged. In their wisdom they decided it should be replaced and I can keep the old roof if I wish. So a car port for the children is now in order. All this will happen in the next week or so. So fingers crossed ! But to date things are going as smooth as . I take it your Z is a daily drive.

Soon ,very soon .Just the T's to cross and I's to dot. Dam this is a lot of hard work . When entries are open I would get in quick or miss out as this event is only once every 2 or 3 years.

Dam I was hoped I had dodged that camera of yours Peter. That was a great run to kick off the Roadz to the Nationals series of events . Geoff from the the ZCCQ has to be thanked for organising such a great run. Also for the guys from the 300ZX forum for their support.I must admit I have never seen so many snakes on the road . Peter failed to mention that a large number of S30 cars got lost just outside Bangalow . So as we do all the navigators huddled in the middle of the road to try and figure out where the hell we were. I thought this was worth a photo .You may not be able to see but there is a sign in the back ground stating 16klm to Bangalow . We all knew it was there , but did we go that way . NO! We all charge off down a goat track ,because that is what the instruction state or as best we could understand there meaning. Now we all have to tighten the bolts on our cars . My Driver's side mirror fell off on the way home. Still lunch was great and we had our fill and it was a good day.

Sorry Guys, there are no Long term Projects .There are just projects and they last as long as you are a Z owner. As for your love Ones . You got to make them think it is their idea to do all this work and that there is money at the end of it. Problem is at some point they will catch on there is no end. It is simple enough , you start out buying your childhood dream of a sports car(not quite what you were hoping it would be) and set yourself a list of things to do and a time table to do it in. First thing you do is burn the time table because that will never work.This is followed by the brillant idea of getting a donor car for the project . Problem with that is you can not bear to pull it apart and decide it is worth fixing as well . Need a wreck! By this time you come to the realisation I NEED A BIGGER SHED. But it doesn't matter because you will find that no matter how big the shed is . It will always need to be bigger.Shelving ,racks, over head crane, hoist ,none of it you can afford . But hay got to have it.So now you have an engineering complex and filled it with 2 1/2 dead Z's .Now you decide you need a working example as a guide to restore the dead bodies piling up in your shed . Ten years have gone by now and you might have 2 cars working .You take at least one along to an event .First thing you see is other peoples projects and think to yourself .I COULD DO WHAT THEY DID and the whole process starts over again. I have seen this happen to so many times.Is this you!

You have to take this sort of thing in your stride Lurch . It happens all the time . Take a road trip to QLD in May and spend some time on the track with us and we may even have a breakfast for you.
