  1. Love the wing Peter .Does a car covered in saw dust fall into this category?
  2. That is good news Alan . The sooner all the details are out to clubs the better. Karyn has been working hard for guys for some time now if I am correct .Perhaps a life membership is in order if she doesn't have one already.
  3. Some more photos and some of the competition . You can see how steep the roller coaster is by the bill board to the side. It is level
  4. Will this do
  5. That would work for me Peter. I need to get the saw dust off Z anyway.
  6. As I understand it the ZCCQ is not attending officially as a club on the Sunday display . But only Dave (president) would be able to confirm that . There was only one paid up entry for this event at the last meeting and the club needed to book space, so it was a no go . I am not sure if you can turn up on the day and display your car as a group of Z's if non club members attend. That should make things interesting if one of the Z teams win or places in the regularity . There will not be anyone there on the Sunday to collect the trophies
  7. I will be there on Saturday for a while . I plan to get a number of photos and some video for the next My Z Car newsletter for the ZCCQ .
  8. After reading this thread ,I went down to the shed and looked at the L24 turbo on its stand with its L28 bottom end on the floor beside it. Stood there for some time just looking at it. Then went over to the Z and started it first turn of the key in a month. Three 45mm dellortoes raw to life. After 32 years that sound still has not got old. So the turbo can wait a little longer.
  9. There is a DVD of the NDN09 event .It is about an hour long and covers most of the cars that were present at the event ,Simon's car included. It also includes some in car and out of car footage of many cars along with over 800 photos. The DVD has been presented to Nismo officials in Japan along with a DVD of LAPZ 2010 at Lakeside QLD. Dat2kman was the one who presented it ,so he would be able to shed more light on the what happened. They are not bad productions considering a 16 year old school girl with help from her younger brother produced them. But this may be just a proud Dad waving a flag moment.
  10. Thanks Matt but Dave did most of the work . I just dragged along a few lights . Not enough judging by Dave's pics . Sure adds weight to my argument about needing some photo gear for the club to use . The flash makes all the difference to focus at night.
  11. And some more
  12. There are a lot of Z's at Morgan Park this weekend . This is just a few
  13. Good day had by all present . Interesting run up the mountain lots of foggy cloud, little rain ,some rocks and lots of waterfalls due to heavy overnight rain. The allday Breakfast was good with talk of events we could do next or later this year and Peter T you missed a good run.
  14. The thread is not bleak , just a little head butting going on . Nothing to worry about. NDSOC will host the next NDN in 2013 .What this topic is about is what form they will take in the future .At present the NDN's are hosted to a degree (around 75%) by Z based car clubs and the NDSOC. All eastern sea board clubs. There is no reason why they could not be hosted in SOUTH AUST or Western Australia. The Eastern Sea board states now have 3 to 4 events each under their belts . So the appeal to attend for some members is not so high any more. But an event held in the other States. Now that would have appeal. Imagine 70+ Z's together across the plains at the same time or 300+ Nissan -Datsuns .It would have to be a photo from space . Or put us all on the train to Perth . That could be a party. There is also no reason it has to be held at Easter.
  15. I will have my work cut for me(as ZCCQ magazine editor) in the next forth coming sprint at Morgan park Warwick. Looks as if there will be more than 20 S30 Z's and a 370Z competing . Should make for an exciting weekend of motorsport.
  16. There's a problem with Lakeside. What is it? Nice try Richard to get us to come out. I think there are a number of us who would like to try flag to flag . But like gambling you only risk what you feel you can afford to lose.
  17. This has to stop . Good luck with NDN13 VIC.
  18. Time to set the record straight . This is the financial for the last 2 LAPZ events held at Lakeside . 2010 was a standard street sprint day on the QUEENSLAND RACING calendar . We booked three groups of 20 runners at $1750 per group at a cost of $100 per entrant. This for a total number of four runs of five laps each. Because their were so many of us all 6 groups on the day were of 20 runners each . This was to much for their timing systems to deal with on the day. With the left over funds we purchased base ball caps and stickers of the day for each entrant. 2011 we were asked to book our own day for the club . But rules had changed , it was now three hours of private practice and four hours of timed runs. We were offered 6 groups of 15 runners at $2000 a group. But with some arm twisting a deal was struck at $10000 for the whole day . We were allowed 75 cars in all but could only attract just over 63 on the day. The cost was set at a $160 per car which just covered costs . So we organised sponsors for hand outs on the day from Silverstone Tyres ,Autobarn and others . Also you could get a hot Breakfast and 1/2 Hour of paced track time for $20 on the morning of the day. All of entrance fees we charged were well below what a private entry fee is for a street Sprint with private practice. How do I know this. Because I organised it.
  19. You still chewing that bone Jason . Can not be much meat left on it by now. It seems that almost everyone who has replied to this thread has at some point been involved in at least one National event at some level. So we know it can be done . Cost is not a real issue ,it is a matter of value for money for what can be organised. Getting the organizers on the same page is another issue. With that done everthing thing after should fall into place. Having said that we all know its a good feeling when its over .I do not believe this kind of event should be left to die .Even if it is just a few lap dashes and a knob polishing event. I feel both the NDN type events and Z Nats should have a place in our calendars. ZCCQ will look at this issue in up coming meetings.
  20. Would it be possible to hold a Z Car NATIONALS in the off year of the Nissan Datsun Nationals in an other State ? Or would this be spreading things to thin to be able to organise?
  21. So Best guess? What will the current series of Z's from 240 to 370 be worth in 2030? I was present at Nissan QLD in 1990 for the launch of the Z32. I would never of guessed what today's prices would have been.
  22. First Z was a 240 purchased in 1980 .Had it till a semi hit it, I then moved all of its running gear into a 260 shell in 1989 and still have it today.
  23. I have seen your family day outs . Dusty is going to want to build something to match it or better .You do know that, don't you . Dam, that puts me down an other rung on the ladder of fast Z's in the Club . I need to start work on my turbo L30 engine. Richard and I were thinking of a day at Lakeside soon.
  24. Is that the X-Dusty machine ?
  25. Gavin I know it has been 12 months since the QLD reps Steve and Shaun came to visit the ZCCQ. At the time it was decided we would make some kind of donation to the cause . There are a lot of ZCCQ members who use this site and would not wish to see it finish. To this although the club caters for all Z's and then some most members own S30 cars . There was a joint event held in December and some funds were raised for the forum . Perhaps a friendly PM to Dat24 may help the cause also .
