So how far off is it from making its own noises Pete?
  2. Only Eccentric millionaires build them??? Tell us already.

  10. Depends where the inspection is. Perth would be quite serious, port headland not so much.
  11. I watched "30 mins or less" today. Its a new (B grade?) movie thats a bit funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn9DoxS_nck Anyway, they steal a mint looking 280zx and give it the beans in a car chase. Watch how much the gear stick moves around when they change gears, the gear knob travel is literally about 40cm 1st to 2nd Pretty funny, but the best driving is the 80's model mustang he fangs around in at the start.
  12. I was going to do the opposite and mount mine on the outside at the back, right after the exhaust tip. That way the exhaust flow would cool the oil and if you did get an oil leak you would have an afterburner.........for a little while.
  13. Thats basically exactly how I did it right there Gareth, patent pending "Peter's Chassis Repairs Encorporated". The holes were drilled approx 1 inch apart, on both sides of the rail for the entire length. You can see the drilled holes on the previous page. I went through and spot welded along the edges of the rail afterwards. The RHS at the end might be a bit bogan for some, but it was the best I could do without the car on a hoist and will still be very strong. I fish oiled the rails, then sealed the seams and welds with sicaflex, then painted body deadener tar over the sicaflex and painted the rail itself black. So much easier for those of us not blessed with a hoist or with their car on a rotissery. Although I still had to weld each end of the rail under the car still, which I still have a few bald spots on my head from. At least the smell of burnt hair has cleared the garage now.
  14. Finally finished the rails. Big thanks to Peter (Allen) for his idea of welding 'through' the floor rather than from underneath, and ScottZ for letting me borrow his awesome MIG welder. I got a little bit loose with the paint on tar (thats what all that messy stuff is on the seams). I was thinking of strengthening the original moustache bar by welding some steel to it and then I saw this pic, which makes me think if I should make up a brace that goes between the two rear mounts of the control arms as well. Just to keep everything solid when launching etc. What do you think?
  15. Nice, that is gunna be loud...
  16. Supercheap, autobarn, bursons.
  17. Selling my ute. Can deliver to Brisbane for the cost of fuel and a Virgin flight home again ($200). Need to sell ASAP. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/toyota-hilux-2005-11662255?cr=31&distance=100&vertical=Car&Range=Price:Min,Max~1&Page=3&sort=default&postcode=4680&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294962861 4294962537&silo=Stock&eapi=2
  18. Hope it all goes well. New holley should perform great.
  19. Hmm. What colour finish do the fibreglass ones come in?
  20. You've got me looking at installing an AUX jack in the stereo in my Clubby now. This mob do the conversion on later model stereos but might prompt some ideas for ya: http://www.asr-audio.com.au/caraudio-stealth.html
  21. http://www.japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1600&highlight=hakosuka If you havent already, have a read, possibly one of the best JDM build up threads ever. Anyway, this guy some how found or installed an AUX jack into his original Datsun stereo so his Ipod/Iphone could plug in and play his tunes through the original stereo. What a legend.
  22. LOL
  23. Wow, you've just splashed a few quid there mate. Re the oil pressure, can you just get a different sized pulley for the pump to reduce pressure? And all that effort for your oil system but your breather set up is still factory? You've even got the carbon canister/fuel tank vent hooked up to your flash fast manifold. With all that extra oil pressure I'd be increasing the size of your rocker breathers and venting them into a catch can or the next engine build will be becuase you sucked a gut ful of oil vapour into the engine through the manifold. Nice cam idle too. Dont be shy with the videos at your next track day, I'm keen to see you wipe the floor with you competitors .
  24. Those pictures arent what I expected to see, with the average 'crash into shop front' etc. Did they try to drive out the other side as well??
