  1. OK first of all, Hi, my name is Tim. I've been sticking my nose in this site for a little bit now while I've been trying to track down my own Z. Any way I would've prefered a 260Z 2 seater but I have found in Townsville (where I live) this 240Z which was somebodies project before they had to move cities etc etc. It was picked up by his mate a few years ago from having some body work done which included full panel replacments and some lower sill work, then resprayed red (was yellow). Now the mate who has it at his place wants it gone. I read the advice you gave the other bloke on here that was looking at the yellow one down south. I checked all the places that you mentioned for rust and took a magnet with me etc and to tell you the truth after seeing other cars with massive rust damage in pics and vids on the net, this one exceeded my expectations. Bit of a story to go with it as always, the 2.4L engine was running before it same out a few times to dummy fit a 1JZ engine. The last time it went back in nothing got hooked back up. The interior is still at another mates place apparently. Anyway the mate is getting in contact with the owner to find out a price and where the rest of it is. My question is what do you think it's worth?? Doing up one of these cars isn't going to be a short term project for me and I'm pretty sure I want to throw in an RB30 with a 26 head and keep it na with six throttle bodies and trumpets etc.
  2. I've got a standard bosch VL fuel pump that I ripped out to fit a turbo pump when I did a turbo conversion. Come to think of it I have a turbo pump as well.
  3. Which site was this from, reason I ask is I've been scanning the qld trading post and ebay etc for Z's but they are few and far between?? That magnet idea is brilliant method for making the guy feel like a bit of a rip off just before you offer him 2.5k to 'take it off his hands'.

"Apparently" plenum volume should be around the same cc's as the engine displacment. 3L for a 3L engine etc. I'm not sure if this changes with forced induction, or whether that was for forced induction and it is different with na. I believe the length and diameter of the runners effect your torque for an na more than your plenum size. At the end of the day it's not about the size, it's how you use it.
  5. How much are L28 engines?? Are how hard do they go standard? RB30's go for about $100 around here, or you could buy a whole VL commdore for a grand and everything you need is there apart from custom mounts. If you only want 200hp then bolt on a turbo conversion for $1000-1500 and make that power easily. You could always do this unoticed after the mod plate (if one is required?) I'm guessing they'll be more fuel efficient too.

  7. I'm lead to beleive the interior is stripped out but still comes with the car.
  8. Thanks for the reply. It would sure save me a lot of money in the long run as it has the 200 diff, the RB mounts and most of the body work done etc. I've also found an rb26 head for a "totally original" rb26/30 six throttle body na engine. The guy said he's done many rb25/30 conversions for Z's so I would've thought he'd at least be on here.

  13. Whats happening with this build up? One quick question, where do you get a vac signal to tune such a set up or is it all tps?? One more, if you used an rb26 head for example, could you use the existing six throttle bodies and simply purchase and mount efihardware trumpets?? I can't wait to hear this thing take off under load.
  14. Great photos mate. Shame about that throttle body, what have others in your situation done? I don't suppose you could press in the guard a bit or cut and shut so there is room for a silicone hose to move around a bit.

    This is such a more sensible option. Sourcing one of these engines might be easy and cheap because of their poor reputation. Ubsolute buggers these older nissan efi engines are. One niggly miss could be one of a thousand sensors. And there are only usually cheap replacements available that are guaranteed to fail before you sort the problem out anyway. Now an LS1 in a Z is like two girls kissing.
  16. Just wondering what ECU is going to drive this intake/injector set-up. I can see you running into difficulties due to the lack of trumpets inside the plenum as well as the fixed diameter all the way from #1 cylinder to #6. If you look at a lot of factory and expensive after market plenums, they taper off towards #6 due to the lesser volume and velocity of air. It does look great however and I'm sure the costs you saved by making your own will far outweigh the small power loss you may experience compaired to a pro job. I'll be watching this thread eagerly.
