  1. Thought I'd dig up this thread rather than start a new one. I'm going to replace my floor pans at some stage and I'm considering buying some steel to fabricate the custom rails as per the link above. Has the rail situation changed in two years?? Is there still no local provider? The bad dog rails from the US look brilliant and a good price but sending them here would be poison. Have you guys fabricated yours yourselves? I'd like stronger steel than factory obviously to help stiffen the chassis but then I don't want to add un-necessary weight to it either. Anyone tackled this recently and have advice or wanna throw some pics up?
  2. Surely he didn't type all that, perhaps a talk to text function or something. Definitely drugs involved.
  3. Hmm that engine strut brace looks delicious, and I'm in Caboolture atm too..... Not sure if it bends up enough the fit over the LS1 though?
  4. Well I thought the car I stripped them off was a 74 but I've never measured them to tell the truth. They are currently in a shipping container with the rest of my life which won't be getting unpacked until late next week.
  5. I know you said 240Z Benny but I've got a pair of rears from a 260z if that helps. cheers
  6. Plan on getting in S30 floor pans etc? cheers
  7. That measurement might be different to your glass door Peter if someone measures their steel door. Wouldn't it be more to do with the outside lining up flush. Weather strips make a big difference too, once installed.
  8. You put these in yet Gareth? Looking at doing floors and rails in mine now so just sussing the scene out.
  9. I'll swap you a NISSAN one for a turbo one?
  10. Big thanks to those who have repsonded here and expecially to Scott who let me jack up my car at his place today and suss out where this racket was coming from. Turns out there are a few issues. One of them which we solved was the front diff mount seemed to be a customised jobby and the rubber had gone on it so the mount was letting the diff move up and down. This was temperarally fixed by inserting a piece of belt coveyor rubber where the gap was. This stopped the mount touching the exhaust too which was causing a lot of vibration during acceleration (like bring your kidney belt). Not anymore. The second issue was there was 'some' play in the CV's and possibly even some back lash in the diff which is still causing the initial clunking, although it isnt as bad now. I got to see Scott's sweet ride and swap a few stories. I'll look foward to doing it again one weekend soon to get that wicked engine into your car Scott. Cheers
  11. Hmm good call on the bolts undoing themselves. That could explain why it has gotten worse over a few weeks. I don't believe it is a backlash issue as this has always been fine and shouldn't progressively get worse. CV's are standard items too which doesn't help. What are upgraded ones worth these days. From the US I suppose.
  12. Hi guys, I pickeded up my zed yesterday in Gladstone and I'm pleased that it is safe with no damage. I have noticed in the last few weeks of driving it that it has developed a pronounced 'clunk' when you accelerate then back off. Even when you do it slightly, as the drive changes the clunk is there. I'm guessing this could be CV shaft related as I have an R200 with the CV's from a later model Z with the circular flange at the stub axles. Or it could be a drive shaft CV I suppose but the noise definitly from the rear left. Is there a way I can check that a CV might be on its way out?? I'm without any of my tools at the moment. :'( thanks
  13. How do these install?
  14. I think we all judged you a long time ago stiva ;D Especially after seeing what you had on your head in that latest magazine
  15. The number plates say it all mate.
  16. Buy a Haynes manual, they have the wiring diagrams for each year in the Z series. Still not easy to follow if you're a novice though.
  17. Got the mag yesterday and had a flick through it. I think its an impressive job, well done. Certainly managed to collect some of my favourite HPI articles in there. So this is going to be a regular edition aye??
  18. Sounds good mate. I'll take you for a ride in the old girl if we can find a place in tannum sand where the rent is less than $700/week.
  19. Peter your humor is dryer than a nuns nasty. Cracks me up every time. LOL. You are the envy of anyone on this site who enjoys classic cars. Good on you for taking the trip. You should also tell the boys about the other research you did! Oh and you've obviously got lots of pics to share so do yourself a favor and start up a photobucket account and load them all up at once and just link them here and there.
  20. Thanks Locky. Both he an I took lots of photos including the odometer. It's all insured but hopefully I won't have to go there. :'(
  21. The whole car is definitely an S15, but three stamped vin numbers say otherwise?
  22. Dare we ask how? I just threw two in the tip cause no one wanted them.
  23. Nice ride. For what its worth, does the ID plates and chassis stamp inside your engine bay say S15 at the start? Strange question I know, but my mate recently discovered his early S15 has S14 plates and now he's freaking out thinking its a chop job or something.
  24. Too true. And dont you love how the owner has "completely customized the dash by adding three gauges where the three round air vents used to be"?
  25. I dont believe the Karma thing is necessary either. If anything, a trader rating could be benificial. If you buy something from someone here and they are genuine, then you add to their trader rating. Those with a few hits on their name will 'appear' to be genuine fellows and thus their post will have the respect of their peers. You'll never stop dreamers from signing up and posting here, but its the regulars that act like pitbulls and bite in their responses that lets this forum down. If no one responds to them, they'll get the message and leave.
