  1. I bought and installed an Innovate LM-2 so I could data log it versus other channels. I'm hoping to log AFR versus RPM, TPS and MAP. Only have AFR and RPM at the moment. Great little unit, though its having trouble reading from my pertronix unit so I'm trying to convert the signal to a square wave. It's amazing what you can find out about your engine swimming through the sea of data it can record.
  2. The cam is out of a L28 and reground by Ivan Tighe to profile 369C (click for profile). Never used, I can provide receipts if necessary. I decided to go something less aggressive to improve drivability as the primary use of the 240Z changed to being daily driven. Oversized lash caps will be required, I recommend Precision Shims Australia. Chasing $100 ono plus whatever shipping costs. Pick up welcome. FYI I keep it stored in a crow cam box from another cam..... [Edited for correct price. Woops!]
  3. I have no idea how much the machinist took off my reciprocating mass but it won't be as much as Jason's, shit, I'm still using a steel flywheel! Knife-edged, balanced and nitrided (talk about an increase to surface hardness!!)...
  4. My LD28 was 22kg, now its a bee's dick over 19kg.
  5. DAAAAMN! Jeez that looks good! Very unique car, very jealous....
  6. Well there you go! Thanks Lurch! What oil do people use? I was going to run redline 10W-30...
  7. Well not of the flatulent kind, haha, the atomised oil kind! Herrods, my group of mates have two track prepared S13 we take to Queensland raceway drift nights, we always have a blast. They market similar things up in QLD, very fast and furious like with language I can't quite understand haha. One night there was a white 260Z at the drift practice, I thought it may have been coincidence. Funny enough, it put plenty to shame.
  8. Thanks for you replies . I think I might run the standard sump as my car will be a daul purpose vehicle. I have been looking at a crank scraper though to reduce windage. http://www.crank-scrapers.com/Datsun-Nissan.html Herrods, what colour is your car and where did you go to have a drift?
  9. Hi all. I'm at a stage where I need to consider sumps. The L28 sump and pick up I have is out of a patrol so it's a mid sump. I'm 99% sure it will work in a 240z, if it won't work for some reason please tell me now. I have looked at the Arizona Zcar sump as well as enlarging the capacity and putting baffles in the existing sump. The Arizona sump looks good but seems a little to expensive for my application. For those who hit the track or race their zed, do you have a modified sump?
  10. FINALLY got my crank and associated bits back! Knife edged, balanced and nitrided. They managed to cut 3kg out of it. It originally weighed 22kg. 13.6% weight reduction is terrific in my books!. Just need my oversized lash caps and its ready for a dummy assemble!
  11. Looks like some serious gear there! I like!
  12. Any news on the engine? Cootha Classic is drawing nearer......
  13. Sounded healthy if that was the first time it was turned over in a while. I'm looking at doing the R31 swap too and like yourself, I haven't found a great deal of info on the web. I'll be staying tuned for photos!
  14. Holy smokes Rev! That interior looks schmick as! If your ever in SE QLD with nothing to do let me know....my 240Z interior could do with a freshen up! lol
  15. I think the datalogger cost $375 AUD, the exhange rate wasn't as good as it is now. I'm dirty as I found a wiring diagram for an S15 for the basic logging channels on the standard ECU harness the weekend before Gatton street sprints. If I had have found it earlier I could have taken if for a test run then as the 240Z wasn't ready. Thanks for the link Scott. I think the base tune settings are pretty close to whats needed after dicussions with Jim for Express Engineering, his father (rallied 1600 in the 70s) and Dallas from DJ automotive but I guess we will find out when its all back together! I'm still waiting on my crank back from the crank shop, my money is on that they've buggered it and trying to fix it. They've had it since January and they said one week turn around...
  16. Still looking to sell the doors, vented bonnet and hatch. Make a reasonable offer! Need to move these ASAP.
  17. I got bored over the xmas break and fitted an RB20DET TB to the standard 280ZX EFI manifold and linkage. The RB20 TB I used measures 62mm diameter. There was a bit of porting involved and I made a 1.2mm metal gasket between the two.
  18. Both the doors (complete except for chrome exterior handles) are up for sale again as I have been having trouble getting in contact with the original buyer. They are wrapped into three packages. I'm chasing $300 for the pair. Pickup is preferred, shipping is expensive. PM for pictures.
  19. Thought I would post an update. Been busy lately. The engine is in its last stages of completion, just waiting on the crank guy to return the important bits! I'm tired so I'm going to post pictures instead of typing an essay, and besides, everyone loves a picture show right? New members to the family, triple 45DCOE152s on a cannon manifold, freshly 'delivered' today I know they're Spanish but they were new and awesomely priced! MSD soft cut rev limiter Innovate LM-2 wideband oxygen sensor and datalogger, I got sick of hiring a dyno... A crappy photo of the BR20DET gearbox to L series bellhousing, very easy conversion Ross MJ harmonic balancer
  20. That looks awesome!! There's something sexual about red zeds and rota's
  21. Sorry Alex, combination switch has been sold.
  22. I have beer........
  23. I have a 2+2 vented bonnet but it will need rust repair in the fold in the front and plus shipping would be a pain anyway.
  24. Flares are sold pending payment. PM me an offer on the front bar if your still interested.
