  1. Its been a while since I've had the opportunity to play with the Zed. Time seems to fly by when your older and have distractions. I finished my registered engineer status for QLD and my national charted status a few years back. I suppose this has kept me (too) busy with work . If someone wants some structural/civil engineering let me know (shameless work plug haha). My weakness for the insane sound of the Group B Audi Quattro got the better of me and bought an Audi RS3 last year. My god they are a beast! The 5 cylinder sound when giving it some stick is an eargasm! Backfiring on downshift also makes anyone who has an iota of car appreciation giggle! lucky it has ISOFIX seats 'cause my wife and I are expecting our little boy around April. I will try an upload the 'casual' backfiring video I took when the novelty value was high...... Anyway, back to the zed baby. It hasn't rolled under its own power on tarmac since April 2012 which is almost abuse right? I have started it occasionally and installed an MSD 6A ignition. That seemed to make starting and idle more stable. I also found out I munted my cam selection. I don't know what i was thinking when I ordered it but I have a 292@0.003", 225@0.05" and an overlap of 76 degrees which explains why it runs out of puff and hits the hard imaginary ceiling at bout 7k rpm. I totally thought I bought something more at the 'racer brown' end of the cam shaft scale to match the knife edged bottom end . After this discovery I think my webers may be incorrect for the setup. The main curcuit gives around AFR 11.5:1 at WOT so I'm not worried about that. My concern is off idle performance. it has a bad habit of stuttering and hesitating around town (from memory....). I think the two things I need to change are the choke size and accelerator circuit. The acceleration pump jet is 45 which seems right but the discharge valve is 00 so there isn't any bleed. I'm thinking the the discharge valve needs to be 50 minimum. I'm not sure what size chokes but I have a feeling I asked for "the biggest you can get" which probably means they are 40mm chokes. I'm thinking 36mm would be enough for a 3.0l stroker with a rev shift point of 6.5krpm and a 7krpm cut? Does anyone have any thoughts?
  2. All still for sale. I am willing to take anything for the RB20 stuff...I would really like it all gone. I have a 280ZX gearbox without the bellhousing sitting here too. It was in perfect working order before I swapped it for an RB20DET box.
  3. Guys, I'm trying to clean the shed out again! Everything is located in Toowoomba. I can get a price for posting some of the smaller things. L26 from a '76 260Z 2+2 E88/P30. It did run but has been sitting in the shed since '08. As is $150.00 Pickup. ROSS Metaljacket balancer with single vee pulley for all L series Part no. 306500. I bought this a few years back new but never used it. The part no. stamped in the balancer is incorrect. I did a quick fit to an engine just to make sure. I longer crank pulley bolt is needed and I'm pretty sure SWM sells them. $660 new, will sell for $300 ono. L24 balancer on the right The reason why a longer bolt is needed. L28 EFI manifold with RB20DET throttle body on 1.4mm adaptor plate. I have ported the manifold to match the throttle body. Fuel line included (pending finding it in my mess of a shed). $150 ono. Two RB20DET long motors. One is in pieces. Plus boxes of RB20 ancillaries (AFM, idle control thingy, manifolds, cover plates). MAKE AN OFFER. Pickup only. Thanks guys!
  4. I don't know about the gauges but avoid i\Innovate LM2! I can't for the life of me get it to log RPM so matter what conditioning I do to the ignition signal. Having said that the O2 function on the LM2 is reasonably quick so I would imagine the gauge would be similar or better. The wideband seems accurate too....it tells me that my off throttle cruising AFR is 17:1...thanks to the crappy location of the progression circuit holes on DCOE152's.... There is also Jaycar DIY options and using a commonly found 3 or 4 wire O2 sensor.
  5. Guys, I'm chasing crown wheel and pinion for a 240Z 3.9 R180. I'm not really interested in centres at the moment, just the ratio. The parts need to be in working order and in SE QLD area. I can pick up. I would prefer to use the 'beer economy' if I can too .... Cheers, Neuby
  6. This car competed in Gatton Sprints 2010. I'm sure I saw it in a pit accross from ours! I remember the sticker on the back window. It was reasonably quick too.
  7. Any idea if these will fit a LD28 stroker motor?
  8. Only the bonnet and dash are left. Thanks
  9. Bonnet and dash is left, I think Greg took everything else including the bonnet vents. Pickup my not be achievable for a while, the roads in and out are still damaged.
  10. Good to hear everyone is ok! There have been plenty of helicopters and aircraft flying over the last few days, lets hope they're going out west.
  11. Sometimes you can't escape it on top of a hill.... The clean up is in full swing up here. It's amazing how much debris there is. I can't seem to get the smell of flood out of my skin :-\ I've inspected a few of the construction sites and affected buildings the day after.....one building had subsided near 100mm in a 24 hour period....
  12. RB20. There is probably enought to make two motors with the parts I have in boxes.
  13. We copped it good in Tbar and we're on the top of a hill! These are out the back of work which backs onto East creek. The cars against the bridge were ones from a carpark up stream and were empty. I need a new work car now, subarus aren't very waterproof haha :'( Water peak
  14. Some pics attached....

  17. Holy shit thats awesome! Can't wait to see vids!
  18. Dammit! I could have used one a few months ago! :'(
  19. What were the results for the weekend?
  20. That looks like a SWM unit on the engine. I originally bought a Ross balancer (solid) but it requires some machining for the bolt and washer to fit so I got the SWM unit to fit instead. I didn't particularly want to machine a factroy balanced unit. Though after hearing about this, I'm not sure which unit to use....
  21. I haven't seen Milton is a long time come to think of it! Last I heard he was really trully giving 'it' up. Haha I bet you he won't. I will have to swing by and visit him. How is your brother's RB conversion going?
  22. The stroker motor is back in, only have about 80 more mile to do then its another oil change, thighten the head and give it some real curry. Had a few issues with getting to run and still have a few things to tidy up. I gave up waiting for some new idle jets so I am having an old set of 50F9 drilled out to 60F9 and that should cure a lot of issues. I still have to install a Stewart Wilkins balancer as I am still running the original item. The L28 ignition died, the magnet under the stator broke which create lots of poles and a weak signal that the module couldn't read so I ended up getting a new Pertronix module for less than $100AUD landed from the US, best investment ever. I should probably write up something a bit more detailed on of these days.....but a quick vid will have to suffice for now....
  23. The whole thing was $400AUD landed from the US with an extra weld in bung from memory. Probably much cheaper now that the oz dollar is stronger.
  24. I assume you'll running on the extended track? It's a pity it falls on the same weekend at the Jap Nationals at Lakeside :'(
