  1. I have read the HybridZ thread too. do the classic look anything like these ones on ebay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/50w-HID-REAL-Bi-Xenon-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-7-Round_W0QQitemZ220515145116QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3357ba159c Also there are some chrome ones on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/50w-HID-REAL-Bi-Xenon-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-7-Round_W0QQitemZ220515145116QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3357ba159c How do your lights compare to these Ben?
  2. I downloaded a 1973 240Z owners manual off http://www.xenons30.com/reference.html Mucked around in Publisher for a few hours to make the PDF print like a booklet. Printed on a Laser, Laminated the cover and stapled it together. It is a Mini Owners Manual and is printed landscape across a A4 piece of paper. Probably will fit in the glovebox better. I do have the capability of printing on A3, on which I could print a full size Owners Manual. My car being a RB25DET 240Z, I was thinking of chopping together a S30/R33 glovebox manual, pretty usless but might make a good manual for a new owner (not that I will ever sell it) or earn me a few points at an auto show. Anyway here is the results.
  3. Paint it with a paint ball gun, multi coloured bullets. I like the colour Rev has painted his car. Mustang Orange is another colour I like. In all seriousness. Colour is a personal choice, one persons preference will not please everyone, just look in the gallery or even just random car pics in google. You will find something you like. If you want to stick original, Choose your favourite original colour that the 280ZX came in.
  4. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Oil-Cooler-Kit-RB20-SR20-RB25-Skyline-Silvia-WRX_W0QQitemZ130382248801QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1e5b633b61 Seller is very helpful and approachable. Good high quality, solid oil cooler relocation kit, the cooler is larger than it looks in the pics. You can get them a bit cheaper than the advertised price on the particular link I posted above. (depends on what he list on the auctions) I will add the install of this oil cooler into my 240Z Project Journal.

  6. http://mckinneymotorsports.com/prod_240+260+280Z+parts A supplier in the US but has plenty of 240Z, 260Z and 280Z coversion parts for turning your zed into a RB or SR Powered Monster. Not sure how shipping would work out. But the parts seem cheap enough.
  7. Peter You better look after that motor. lol
  8. You know how the weather is like the TROPICS down here in Tasmania. Have to keep cool somehow.
  9. Blue Rat long time to reply I know. "Flying Finish, Post Chief" basically the person that overlooks the entire Flying Finish on the Stage, Reece Dam in my case that year, Making sure communications stay alive, between the timing station and the time handover station for that stage. also making sure everyone is doing there job, setup and dismantle of Flying Finish Station. Targa Time again soon. This year I can relax, Targa have had a restructure and have 7 dedicated crews that look after a stage each per day. All I have to do is stand gaurd at a road that comes onto the stage and watch the cars go by. Yay I have time to take photo's for once.
  10. nice work on the car mick
  11. Probably a little late, but I had 1050kg on my tare weight on an ex victorian registered car. Found it on the Rego Sticker. My car is a 1973 240z
  12. Does anyone have interior kick panels and firewall panels preferably off the car that they could trace and send me the pattern in the mail? To suit a 1973 240Z. Or if you have the panels in surplus I may be willing to purchase depending on price plus cost to post.
  13. Steve the old 280Z Flamingo has come a long way. Well Done. That paint Job is mirror finish pristine as well.

  15. Big thanks to Scotty, Petes mechanic for taking the time out to come down, help deliver my new engine and help install. Big thanks to Pete for delivering my new engine quite cheaply. Even though he got a free holiday on the best Zed Roads in Aus. RB25DET ENGINE UPGRADE MRP69 Peter Drove my new RB25DET down from Sydney, Installed in his car. RB25DET RB20DET Gearbox Intercooler and Piping Engine and Gearbox Mounts Wolf 3D Computer. With Hand Contoller Exhaust System THE MISSION Swap my L28 into Peters car so he could drive home. Swap Peters RB25DET into my car. Do a 100,000 km Service, water pump, timing belt, seals etc. In 7 Days well 6 work days, one piss up and parts purchasing. PROBLEMS Work Done Harmonic Balancer would not come off RB25, stripped bolts on original pulley, heating the pulley did not work. Made a custom Pulley Puller from a set of heavy duty spring compressors and metal plate. Finally got the pulley off at 2:30am Differences in the 72 240Z Chassis and the 73 240Z Chassis Gear box mounts were different (easy fix with slight modification) I retained my standard gearbox mounting tabs in tunnel with addition of four flat extention plates. Pete had two bits of box plate added to 1973 standard gearbox mount to bolt up to the 72 mounts. Rear differential carriers were different making neither tail shaft fit either car. Had to Shorten the tail shaft that went into Petes car so he could drive home. Mine still needs lengthening but has enough of the spline holding into the gearbox to move the car around. Done 100,000 km Service on RB25 engine. Found a cam cover was leaking on the RB25 replaced the seals in both cam covers. RB20DET Gearbox throw out bearing needed replacing. RB25 had a broken Engine mount, Replaced that. Paint stripped the wrinkle black paint off intercooler piping and resprayed Aluminium Silver. Painted engine covers Yellow to match car. Sanded back front spoiler and painted yellow. Re-wire my bosch fuel pump and misc lift pump, Plumb up surge tank and mount suge tank properly. Rear Drum brake overhaul, installed new brake hardware and slave cylinders. Cleaned up drums. Run loom and hooked up computer in new mounting spot on passenger kick panel. Cut hole in fire wall for wiring.

  19. I have noticed there is a lot of confusion with tyres/rims under our zed cars and it is hard to sift through the information on this site to find your answers especially for new members. If you would Please share with the forum your tyre/rim combo and model car you have. Please follow the exact format as below (copy paste). No BS or comments. If you need to comment or ask questions please PM the person who posted the info. If you are unsure of any details just leave them blank. (If there is any info that should be in this list but is not PM me and I will add it into this post) Year/Model: 1973 240Z Suspension: Standard, Coilover, spring type, shock type etc. Body Modification: Bolt on flares with guards cut, rolled guards, etc. Comments: Front tyres rub on full lock, rear tyres scrub guards on bumps etc. Rim Brand: Rim Diameter: Rim Width: Rim Offset: Rim Price: Tyre Brand: Tyre Width: Tyre Profile: Tyre Price: Picture: use attach feature to keep pictures small in thread
  20. Maybe from that post I made years ago we could just get everyone to post what they have under their car I will compile the info. EDIT: Topic created http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6790.msg61942.html#msg61942
  21. The Rb-25 conversion I bought off MRP69 Peter does not have those relays installed but works. I should look into it for protection I suppose.
  22. So from the discussion it would be nearly safe to say that the 2 seater 260Z door panels fit the 240Z size wise and 260Z models after 74 will fit but would need a new hole drilled for the door lock? I guess that would mean American 280Z panels should fit as well?
  23. Fair few differences in the 2+2 vs 2 Seater. A fair bit of modifying to get the 2+2 to fit right by the looks if you were to bother.
  24. I was thinking as my 240 is not standard I might as well go the 260z door interior panels if they will fit. They are cheaper and I quite like the 260z door handle, I may have to drill but I will make it fit.
  25. Title explains it all
