Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
Hunter replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
I just noticed that one for $4000 brilliant for the price -
http://www.rockyauto.co.jp/video/video003.html this Skyline has carbs on it right? If so what brand?
-
Gav just to answer your question why? It is not about power etc. It is about period correctness and trying to re-create an affordable 432 alternative. Plus it will be different and fun, but I am not sure that you would call head F$@%$ and scun knuckles fun. Also as far as getting it registered, if I can bonus, if not it will be a track only car and shows. Thing is the car I have just purchased used to have an RB25 installed, I will just keep the rego up and the cops won't know the difference down here. plus only transport have the power to open your bonnet, cops need a warrant.

hey Scotty I may need some custom length -10AN oil cooler hoses, to mount a oil termostat inline with my oil cooler and oil filter relocation kit. Do you make them? or do you just sell the products? i have delt with purple pig somerset in the pasy with mine ventilation products. I work on a mine site where I can make my own hydrolic hoses, would these be suitable? The fitters at work are not sure.

nzeder thanks definite photo proove it can be done. and very close to the head which is good.

only problem with that benji is that the cam covers either side a seperate units, then the middle section is a plate of plastic that covers the coils/plugs is screwed to the insode of the cam covers. So the inside cam cover bolts would not be accessed without drilling holes into the center of the machined part.
-
The two side cam covers are about 4mm thick max. and the center cover is made of plastic. good idea but probably wont work. If it was to work you would have to make a new center cover and add some meat onto the cam covers, with a piece that comes out over the timing belt cover, and cut the original timing cover top off. I was thinking. Cut the top off the front timing cover, weld some tabs on the side cam covers, take the center cover out, and make a replica cover to bolt over the top. It would not be perfect but as long as it was a reasonable faxcimilie I would be happy.

by the way they have done alot of work to the highclere over the years. I remember going to watch the karts when I was a kid with my old man.
-
If they are carbs on that RB engine above, they look as if they would have to be mounted fairly closely to the head like the picture below of an S20 engine. Also that exhaust manifold looks dangerously close to the battery, but could be the veiwing angle.
-
it did have solex written in the description, bit hard with google translate. but if you look carefully it looks like the top of carbs on the intake
-
To answer my own question yes it can be done. The Carbs are hiding over the side of the motor. Found this on Rocky Auto. http://www.rockyauto.co.jp/stock/comp_detail.php?id=1641 Maybe I could buy parts off them to get it done.

My 260Z 2+2 must be that 110 red to looking at the colour chart, I will look at the paint code when I get around to it.
-
None are going at the moment. The RB25 240Z is driveable just not registered or engineered yet. needs suspension and brake work. My L26 2+2 has donated most of its parts to my L28 that is in MRP69's car in Sydney at the moment. My l28ET 2+2 is rotting away is just a storage place for the engine.
-
Thanks for the info nzeder and dimitri. and on paint colours. I will check out both posts. I will have to find another car for this project, a 240Z preferably. I will keep my yellow one as a RB25DET.
-
Thanks for the info, I could always get different motor mounts and tilt the engine the opposite way. But looks like it would fit. Would it fit with an airbox though? Also would the throttle linkage out of an American 240Z fit? Seeming they were RHD and the linkages come from that side somewhere. But the cable setup should fix those problems.

Rear CV's on a Zed advise wanted on beefing them up!

I may be looking for a conversion my self, tell me how you go. -
lol scotty I sent an email as well, maybe we might be able to pick up one each in the same area and do a trip together lol
-
Just another thing I noticed is that the 432 has front fender indicators.

I thought it was. I drive past that track quite often on my way to Burnie. Small tight track!
-
Dimitri, I was thinking I could make a cover to go over the top of the motor whole motor, weld tabs onto the cam covers and screw it on that way. Do you still have the RB Triple carb manifold? That I could either copy or buy? I would like to plan the project first though to make sure it will work, and I will also need another shell. The 280ZX wheels would be a good option as 432 I am guessing come with 14" wheels. but from reading the 432-R was released with steel wheels and was mainly sold to race teams, who put their own wheels on the car, Watanbe's or similar.
-
The factory orange was. "Permisson Red" I know I spelt it wrong. I will see if I can scrounge up some pics of my old 2+2 when it was polished, It looked pretty close to that one. But I do agree it is fairly dark.
-
The reason I ask, is I want to make a Z432-R or Z432 Replica. Basically a RB20 to match the 2.0L donk in a 432. possibly a RB25 Triple Dual throat carbs. A custom made airbox made to look similar to 432 air box. Extrators 6 into 2 with twin exhaust. Doubt I will find 432 mags, so Black Rota Grids would do. Custom plug cover to match the 432 motor. Paint the plug cover and cam covers to match the 432 motor. Possibly 432 rear spoiler. Possibly source all the extra little things that makes a 432 a 432. clock, tacho, rear bumber rubber, etc etc. Car body colour would be Orange with black bonnet. or 432 Gold with black bonnet. Does anyone know the paint code or equivilent for the 432 Gold?
