  1. In the book "How to modify your Nissan/Datsun engine" it shows a pic of what engine I thought was in that car; a turbo'd L28 mounted on a wild angle for a low center of gravity..
  2. Matt, the zed is in Moorabbin, parts are in Pakenham. I was going to scrap the shell while it was in Canberra but it was to good for that. So I hauled it all the way to Melbourne. You are more than welcome to come and have a look and check it if it's better than your shell.
  3. No, you must give in and satisfy that hunger... you know you want to.... Chassis number is GRS30-010441
  4. Not sure on the carby details but I know 45's will be fine for a L28 but don't run a huge cam. If it will be mainly street driven, stick to a mild cam. Anything bigger and it will be a pig in city driving. If you want to run a big cam, EFI will have to do.
  5. Don't forget these cars were hand made new so door and other panel gaps weren't up to today's standard! Get them as close as you can but don't stress.
  6. I have sold. a very good condition roller 260Z 2+2 that would make a great project car. Zed has suspension and R200 diff but is missing some parts that I can supply to the buyer very cheap! And I mean cheap as a bonus to help complete the car. There is no interior and missing panels/doors but I do have a pair of doors that are almost rust free and complete. They will all be thrown in as a bonus. Other parts will also be thrown in for free. Have a motor / gbox that can be offered cheap. Just needs someone to put it back together. Asking $600 and we can negotiate on the other bits...NO nasty suprises! PM me or txt 0413 243 760 Gone to a new home now..
  7. I'll be there Saturday so I will find some. Its very hard to find stuff as it was all thrown together when I brougt it down to Melbourne. There are about 30 boxes to look through! not to mention little metal bins wth bolts etc..
  8. Very thorough indeed! You'll want to wrap it up in cotton wool when you re all done. Excellent work!
  9. As quite a few members here may or may not know, I have quite a few parts listed as one big lot on eBay at the moment with plenty of watchers that do sweet FA each time I list. For just a short time, I'll offer it all here for $2500 for a quick sale. All the parts alone if sold separately would be able to almost triple that figure, I need these gone ASAP. For any SERIOUS inquiries, please PM me for my details. Thanks PS, did I mention that I need these all gone very soon?
  10. Yet another Welcome...
  11. Be prepared for the withdrawal symptoms... and don't let that vacant spot in the driveway get to you..
  12. It will be massive effort to keep it in a straight line and finish a lap..I don't think they can time a lap of tyre smoke!
  13. I use a bench grinder with a buffing wheel and compound to polish scratched CD/DVD's (Thanks kids!) works like a charm.
  14. Just make sure it doesn't have a "Fred Flintstone" type floor and the car isn't being held together by cobwebs before you splash out the $7.5k..
  15. I think your zed will need mini tubs to put that power down...
  16. I think you mean a diode Scoota..those little black cylinders with a silver stripe.
  17. I can beat that..every day if you prefer.... To store it just buy a trickle charger and leave it of till you get back...no need to start it every so often.
  18. I think that's the best answer so far.... hahaha
  19. Yep that is correct. If you are fitting them into a 240Z (51mm) tube, they will be a tight fit; I had to remove a couple of layers of paint off the shock to fit!
  20. Just a guess...did the Z influence the design of Iron Man?
  21. If you have access or can even buy a cheap clamp meter to measure the amps while its cranking, that will give you a good indication of the health of the starter motor. From memory, about 280-300 amps is normal; anything higher and there could be an internal short drawing all the current. Or if you have a multimeter, put it across the battery while its cranking and check the voltage.. if it goes below 10.5 volts, battery is toast. But I'd check the starter first!
  22. Yep, I do have the yellows fitted. Spacers have to be made to lift the insert high enough for the gland nut to hold it tight. Some measuring is involved.
  23. I'll be carting along some parts that a few members have asked for.. Gordon, I have your door handles!
  24. I wasn't questioning your driving abilities, I was doing club sprints with my first car (260Z!) while on my L's and what the good thing was, everyone on the circuit knew what they were doing. The shyte heads on the public road was another matter. That 260Z copped a beating from these others on the road. Lets just say the only untouched panel was the roof. Most of the damage was done while I wasn't even in the car! By all means get a zed now if you can... but just be prepared.
  25. Another Welcome.. A great first car would be a 96 Corolla...it has 2 great functions; learn to drive and if you get hit or hit someone/thing else, it won't hurt as much and when you find your first zed, great for punting around chasing parts and the like. A zed is a great second car for the cruises and weekends.
