  1. I hope to see some nice pics of that event; Would've been good if you weren't that far away!!
  2. Another Welcome... And I'm sure that list of mods will grow in time...they always do!
  3. Looks great there Simon! I see the front spoiler is ready for all the stone chips it's going to cop at all the track events! Hehehe..
  4. Just curious if I should bring some parts if we are having a bit of a swap meet? Whatever doesn't sell, I'll post up on the forums later because postage would be a PITA..
  5. I don't think everyone can get used to the high prices they are fetching now...gone are the days of picking up a average/good 2 seater for $2500; as I did with my first Zed around the mid nineties. Now that I would love to find another one, I'm looking at least $10K! Like someone mentioned in Glen's thread; supply demand. Now that everyone wants one, prices are only going one way....up!
  6. Steve Newing does have airboxes ready for sale now. I think they are going for around the $300 mark but apparently work very well; look very similar to Gavin Strongman's airbox. I intend to get one but firstly I need my engine built first!
  7. Another welcome! You're thinking of a good combination of mods there.. Nothing beats a RB25DET for power for $$$. Sump you will need is from a GQ Patrol; Waxhead (member on here) did a great conversion of that sump to fit in a zed; search for that thread and see how easy it was. As for the Skyline diff, I think the R33 diffs are the short nose type.. Diff from a R31 Turbo 2 door (import) will fit straight in with no mods needed. I'm sure you will find out everything soon!
  8. That's what happens when you don't think! Reminds me when i bought my Z32; came with some nice wheels equipped with lock nuts and no key! Spent 1 hour making a key from scratch, worked for the first 3 then broke on the fourth. Spent another hour making a better one just to remove the last one..Didn't end up cutting my wheels apart! Hahahaha

    Rota Wheels

Ben, would those aluminium wheel nuts fit Performance brand wheels also? I assume they are M12x1.25 pitch? thanks
  10. Maybe he was distracted by the guy video taping him from the other side of the road? hahaha...Richard Cranium
  11. Common mistake I've seen done is a single filament globe installed in a twin filament holder; has anyone changed globes recently? When you park lights are turned on and a single filament globe contact bridges a twin contact and feeds power to a circuit that hasn't been switched on yet....
  12. It's better to be safe and grab a harness that's in current date with no damage like fading etc...just to be sure..
  13. Personally, I'd go for the chrome...suits the zed better.
  14. With your update i was hoping to see finished pics! But oh well..we'll have to wait a bit more. Cage will suit it real well.
  15. Dave, Can I have pics of the 240 carbs with no manifold? I may need to grab them off ya! Thanks
  16. This is as annoying as a one word SMS reply...
  17. Here are a couple of pics I took with my phone; always too lazy to haul around the SLR..Quite a few tourists took their pics posing next to Allans 311 and Dales red 240.. I caught one in the act!
  18. Welcome to the forums.... If you are near Calder this weekend, there's a handful of zeds running at a sprint this Sunday; free entry and good chance to see some zeds running around in circles..
  19. As with all ECU's, it only runs the engine the way the sensors "tell" it to!
  20. There is a reason for going to twin pipes; there are many that I have come across that argue that it's pointless but I have read a book on the scientific design of exhaust systems that state, in several chapters, that strongly recommends the need to keep exhausting and intaking cylinders apart. Pulses that travel from exhausting cylinders flow into intaking cylinders during that brief overlap period pushing exhaust fumes back into the cylinder thats trying to push out all the spent gasses. Keeping cylinders 1, 2 and 3 appart from 4, 5 and 6 does have andvantages. I still intend on building my twin "quiet" setup once my good motor is built. They used these systems in Japan many years ago as did the BRE Datsuns...
  21. With some ECU's that cannot be modified internally, one way to "trick" the ECU is to modify the signal from an input. For example, modifying the signal from the air flow meter could make it run leaner or rich. There's a fair bit of info available, just have to do alot of searching.
  22. What I see with rust like that on a car body, on the outside like that, although most of it is the size of a 20c piece, behind that is another story; expect the rust to be around 5 times bigger. With the rust in the last pic in the dog leg, I'd replace that whole section. Most panel beaters charge by time so whatever is quickest to them will be the cheapest but not the best way to repair.
  23. Might have to settle for a 2 speed Powerglide... that will be unique!
  24. Hehehe...Lurch, fierce may be the wrong word to use...costly?
  25. Running with a L24 in MSCA puts you in group C (Marque Sports 2000-2500cc) which at most events, there are only 4-5 people in that class. There is one quick RX7 though but you are in with a chance. With a L26 and above, you will have to run with the zeds running strokers etc so the competition is fierce.
