  1. Thanks guys, I don't think I have the horsepower for more than 210-215 so sounds like the 4.11 is the way to go. I'm actually less concernered about the top speed than I am about running sustained high revs and of course pulling up the hill. Nothing to win here, just need to be sure to get the car through the weekend in one piece and we're double entered for twice the fun. Roger
  2. We're off to the FOSC regularity event at Bathurst this Easter and I'm looking for some advice on what diff ratio to run. Normally run a 4.3 or 4.11 with a max of 6500 rpm, I've also run 3.9 but not sure if I would be better off with a 3.7 or even a 3.5. We see about 200 in rally trim but there's no Conrod straight in a rally so not sure what we need to prepare for. I know some of you guys have run there before so any advice appreciated. Roger

    MUST DO SOMETHING

    OK.
  4. Hi Mick, Michael at JH Southcott at 11 Holder Ave Richmond does my head and machine work. Give him or Gordon a call and tell them I sent you. 8352 8522 Roger
  5. Hi Mick, there's no substitute for cubes. All the valve train is common across the heads so the towers, cams, rockers and springs/retainers can all go on the N42. Not sure about the cam grind being suitable sorry. Don't bother with bigger valves, the N42 are big enough. Definately flat top pistons, you want the compression up over 10:1 Good luck with the build. Roger
  6. Also check if there is a starting resistor in the coil power wiring, someone may have installed a non resistor coil. Either way as Retro says a battery positive to the coil will tell. Do you have a points dizzy or an electronic unit? Roger
  7. I'm hearing that Pete is out of ICU and in recovery. Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery. Roger
  8. Our thoughts are with Pete and Margaret tonight. Roger

Have to agree, very fastidious owner and very well presented car. Roger
  10. "Hi, my name's Mick and I'm a race-aholic" First Collingrove, next it's Mallala and before you know it you're mainlining E85 and selling your shoes to buy tyres. See you at the NDCC hillclimb next month? Roger
  11. I know I've dug up an old thread but did you ever get this conversion done? I'm keen to do a similar thing and interested to see how it went. Roger
  12. Targa Adelaide will be shown on 7Mate this weekend, Saturday at 1:00pm on 7Mate (check your local guides!) Roger
  13. Better weather today and back up to 5th with attrition. Unfortunately Goodwin and Knappstein didn't start today both with some mechanical gremlins and I think the Edwards car might have had a mishap this afternoon too. Short day tomorrow just need to bring it home in one piece. Roger
  14. Nope, not us, we made it through the day OK but dropped a couple of spots in the very wet stages. Certainly hoping for drier weather on the weekend. Who was in the white zed at the start of the Marble Hill stage? Roger
  15. Despite the wet weather we had a good first day ending up equal 5th in Classic Outright. Tim was fast but suffered some mechanical dramas and missed a few stages and the other two Zeds are going well just outside the top 10. Looks to be wet again today but clearing for the weekend so looking forward to that. For those in SA check the targa web site for good spectator spots. Roger
  16. Just run a new wire from coil -ve, you're going to need it anyway when you install your shift light / monster tach / FIA battery isolator! Roger
  17. My rally 240 has the cage welded from front towers to the A pillars and rear towers and the lead seams still crack. Roger
  18. The Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally is on again this month and this year for something different the club are running a hillclimb up old Willunga Hill in conjunction with the rally. Check out the website for details. http://www.ahtr.com.au/ Roger

Paul, Annie's coming so put me down for a plus 1. Also think that Adam from zgarage and plus 1 should be coming with Zeds. What time are we kicking off and what would you like us all to bring/ contribute as it looks like a fair crowd. Roger
  21. Is it possible that you have mis-timed the cam timing and there is a valve hitting a piston and holding up the head?
  22. Should I stone guard the roof? There's a great picture of me changing the front wheel, didn't even need a jack....
  23. My rally car is done like that and you don't even really notice. Roger
