Just build a loft, shower and shitter in the thing, tear down the house and build an extension to the first garage. You'll be spending more time in there anyway.

I've done a bit of work in this area, those swan units are awesome. Depending on HDD size you can go for a month recording or change it to 25 FPS for a lot clearer image and about 7 day recording time.

My fav cutting tool is the 1mm blades for the 4 inch grinder, the thin ones. If you can cut it proud (not quite to the original shape) and then finish with a file to get the right shape. A couple of points. It may seem like a big deal to cut but there is nothing that can't be repaired with fibreglass or steel. The template for the left can be flipped upside down to be the template for the other side. If you want my number i can PM you it and i'll walk you through it.

A template won't change as long as you have a reference point. The edge of the bonnet is a perfect one.

Can you remove the vents from your old bonnet and make a cardboard template of the position to cut the holes?

I made these build outs about12 years ago. Just be aware that the place that you would like to mount speakers in the door have 3 different angles.
