  1. Try not to laugh to hard but i was watchin Commando with arnie and there is a Z in a scene with the Yellow Porsche
  2. You might want to check out other datsun models around the same year as many parts are interchangeable. I did a conversion on a 180B and used two automatic pedals cut down to fit the manual pedal rubbers
  3. I'd say that's a Satan effect with the house Is that the ridgy radio in it? Damn sweet ride dude don't change a thing. Hmmmm maybe the seat covers.
  4. You can get a clip on one at most auto shops.
  5. Yea i did rattle on a bit but to sum it all up what work for one application may noy work for another and i don't think with different manifolds, displacement, cylinder heads, emission and non emission carbs and even location that there can be a set formula to tune a car. What works on one car may not work as well on another
  6. Just a couple of questions. What is the maximum speed in 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th? What is the Highest speed you have had the car up to? Is the speedo accurate? Is the tachometer accurate? This will give a better picture of what is going on. Also try to find out some more information on the gearbox and if you can, who did the conversion.
  7. The biggest part about discovery in the engineering field is to throw everything out the window and be prepared to make mistakes. There is no set formula for ANY engine or car and if one would think that they could do something as simple as join a forum and get all the Answers you need then think again. The pioneers of motorsport had no one to ask and spent more money than the National Debt of all countries combined. Try stuff and see what you can come up with. I think that if anyone here was an expert this forum would be locked down to a PDF on Z's I could not think of anything more boring than that My Bad
  8. Anyone got a spare Electronic Dizzy to suit an L26 Layin about... I pay cash and luv you long time..
  9. Just wondering if anyone has used or heard of these items http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-6-Cyl-Hitachi-dist-Pertronix-Ign-1761_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33691QQihZ015QQitemZ250261813644QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  10. They look great. I always had a soft spot for those particular type of simmons but if i was going to fit a set to my car i would either A. Paint a big Kangaroo on the bonnet and go do promotions for Made In Australia B. Color code the centres which can look really wierd with the wrong color
  11. Thats a great price. Also these guys are in Sydney (sort of) http://www.sportsclassic.com.au/ They have rolling shells and other stuff ... bit pricey but.
  12. I think this must be the stupidist question i have ever put on this forum but her goes. Is anyone else out there running Triple Dellortos and an Automatic transmission? I have been learning a lot about the progression phase of the Dellorto equipped engine band and as you may know one can often miss this phase with a manual transmission as it cuts out around 2500 RPM. Now with an auto it is not possible to miss this phase and often the gear changes can drop back right in the middle of a progression phase when just cruzin around town. This has caused me to spend a lot of time tuning and now the Dellortos are nearly 100% compared to when i first installed them. I was also wondering if anyone else has had problems with hesitation in there triples down lower in the rev range. There was always the option of fitting a smaller torque convertor. Again any opinions or advice are most welcome. Cheers Scoota G
  13. Hmmm that usually means it is gummed up really well but the diagphram is still in working order. It's not difficult to pull apart but makin sure it goes back togeather the right way is important. I screwed mine up the first time i stripped it down and accidently set the rotor button position 180 degrees out. If it helps with your problem is a mystery.
  14. So let's paint a picture here. A crankshaft does Umpteen thousand kays in another motor and then sits around for a while and then gets transplanted in your donk, does a couple of years service and then says no dice. It sounds like there may be a fault with you block. I would be very keen to see the engine apart if i were you and see tolerences measured.
  15. Sounds like you have an un-original strut. Some shops when a car has been repaired don't give two Hoots about getting the right part... The right part for these guys is the one that fits. I had a similar problem with the brakes on mine.
  16. Yea the last thing you would want to tell an auszcar member is to suck on it......but that is the best way to test it ... the vacuum advance i meant.
  17. G'day, Just thought that i would mention that there is one in the trading post website for $2950 in N.S.W. 4 k does sound a little rich but they ain't gonna go down in price.
  18. False alarm!!! The pump jets were blocked on two carbs and were not shooting into the Butterflies as they should for good atomization. There you go
  19. Do any of you chaps know where i can get pump diaphragm's for DHLA's or is it a case of search ebay. Cheers Scoota G

  21. My car was doing exactly the same thing. Check your Valve gap and adjust. The problem was caused by broken rings on mine. All the first set of rings were broken and good mate told me that this is common with japanese engines, older japanese engines
  22. Someone told me Brasso
  23. R u going to the next club meeting? That would be a sure way of finding out.
  24. I dunno if anyone knows reverend but there are some weber parts he was looking for on Ebay.
