  1. Thanks Jason, the car is already lowered and I am thinking the lower profile will just drop it down a tad too much. The 215/60/R15 really fill out the arches and only just miss the guard which is why I thought the 50's or 55's would be OK. I have the 205/55/R15 RE003 on the Sports (15x6.5) and they are great but can only get RE002 in the 50 profile which is what I was think for the Zed
  2. Is anyone running 50 series tyres on 15" rims? My current Zed wheels are 15" x 7" currently fitted with some old 215/60/R15 Now looking at either 205/55/R15 or 205/50/R15 in Bridgestone RE002 or RE003 Am concerned the 50 series may look a bit odd and have a too hard a ride
  3. Well the RB30 started fitted just fine other than the solenoid being about 180 degrees around away from the block and needing a shorter bolt. Starts really well...... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141730936456?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. Bump with a $12k budget with strong preference for NSW rego
  5. My Sports has this noise and its normal. Do you have a early model 240 box (which is very similar to the Sports)?
  6. Forgive me if someone has already put this one up.....Z432 http://www.kenobrothers.com/auctions/1972-nissan-fairlady-z432
  7. So what and where would you get a good replacement stater motor? Some of the newer ones around really spin so much better now and my old girl sits around for a while without being driven and needs all the help it can!
  8. The Gold Coast is not friendly to Zeds....love country cars
  9. +1 to the welcome Cam...+1 on your lost too, must be tough. We need pics
  10. This guy is on our forum: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13684-des-with-a-zed/page-2
  11. From Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DatsunClassifiedsAustralia/?fref=nf Datsun 260Z 2+2, good solid restoration project, slight rust but not the usual rust buckets that you see. has been living under a tarp outside for years, hence the surface rust on the roof, motor is seized, but there is another L series to go with it. To many projects means it has to go, call me on 0413215075.Located Port Lincoln SA Price is $3000, sorry forgot to put it in the description !!
  12. I'm in, happy to go most anywhere
  13. Love the "Zed Art" on the wall in the first shot
  14. Thanks for keeping an eye out for me Gav Perfect but she keeps insisting on a manual and does not have the means to convert. This is why she has been looking for nearly 12 months ....she has time to wait except the prices keep going up.
  15. I went from a XR6 turbo daily drive to a 260Z (I work away a lot and did not drive it much) .... then from this to a XR8 ..... then eventually back to 260Z weekend driver and a boring 4WD as a daily ... plus a 2000 Sports because the Zed was too new
  16. Thanks for advice you are no doubt correct. Previous owner fitted triples and said it did not go any harder and just used more fuel....I assume he just had the wrong set or setup...keep tossing up the idea for triples but I have enough trouble with the twins on my Sports.
  17. Thanks Jason Do you need a special plenum box to fit the K&N? Do you who makes the machined tubes?

  19. Just wondering if this advise is still valid or if anyone has done anymore testing? I know there has been work on tubes fitted to the Solex's on the Sports with good success but from this it appears that the Hitachi SU's on the Zeds that the tubes make little difference? Before I read this I fitted a couple of short tubes on mine on the weekend and it felt like it went better. Must be mind over matter
  20. Yes but was not as easy as I thought. Drivers side car hole centres were 330mm and the seat was 320. Passenger side front car was 320 and 315 rear and the seat was 320. Had to slot most of the holes.
  21. Have finally fitted the set of original seats in leather. While not as supportive as RX7 seats they look much better and have a better driving position
  22. Thanks d3c0y. Have you used these guys? Looks like they have a pretty good set up. Don't know if you would get much from a dyno setup for a SU carbies ? (looks to be more around engine management setups) http://www.cnjmotorsport.com.au/
  23. Had a bit of a play with it on the weekend and attempted to use the above advise with limited success (mostly due to lack of ability some lack of gear). Checked plugs but struggled with getting from flat out to get plugs out (may have been some idling in that). Plugs looked a bit black and varied in colour (photo below) Compressor test 195-200 psi across the lot Also struggled checking timing at 4000RPM (by myself). When I revved it up the highest it would go was about 25 degrees, maybe 30. The fuel mixture was also troublesome. I have Colortune devise that I have used with some success on my SR311 but struggled with it on the Zed. Few questions: If I set the timing as per the book at 10DBTC shouldn’t that be correct at 4000 RPM? What is the importance at the higher RPM? The adjustment of the mixture only has effect at idle for a SU? The manual states to start at ½ to 1 turn out, mine was 3 turns. I though the more turns out that was more air and less fuel, is that correct? The Colortune indicated it was running rich at 3 turns out and leaned up as I closed it off Also it did not make a significant difference no matter where I had it adjusted I ended up putting a set of horns and it did seem to run much better and a little more torque. Is there an ideal length for horns on the SU’s? Also where do you buy the socks/filters for them
  24. No worries, was upset with myself for not picking it up Yes it very annoying with these old adverts, here are a few: http://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/detail/cars/unique-cars/datsun/260z/42104 http://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/detail/cars/unique-cars/datsun/260z/42105
